You got me thinking there Ed ............. 12 fret......... 14 fret ......... I was imagining very short guitars as I usualy use the term to signify the total number of frets smile.

Typically a classical guitar has 12 frets to the body and an acoustic 14 so the Blueridge is rather unusual, but she is a very attractive lady and she does sound great.

second you should take off and replace each string individually, rather than take them all off at once. That way the pressure on the neck doesn't go from high to zero and back to high tension again.

My 12er was made is the 70's, so she is no spring chicken, but I always remove all the strings when changing them and I have never had any problem. It is the only way that you can clean and oil the guitar and fretboard properly without restrictions.

Roger

PS. I remove the strings by cutting them in half with side cutters so there is a very rapid change from full tension to none and my old gal don't object lol

I use a Dunlop capo that fits my electric, my acoustic and my 12er. There are other good quality capos that are wide enough for a 12er. Check them out at your local store.

Hi John,

I re-string mine every 8 to 10 weeks and I have not had a problem. I normally fit the strings and tune them in. Then I will take hold of each one in turn at the 12th fret and tug on it and wiggle it before the final tuning.

Look for sharp edges that can cause a break or you could try tuning a semi-tone or even a tone down if you continually have problems.

My caution with USB mics is that you're limited to one track recording. They limit you to plugging into a computer.

Jerome, there are some microphones that have an XLR and a USB socket built in which can be used through a mixer in in a PC and so ared more versatile. Off hand I cannot remember the manufactures.

Hi gtx,

It is surprising what people will do for their 15 minutes of fame. The one that always surprises me is the Jerry Springer Show. Anyone going on there knows that they are going to be humiliated and get in a fight (of sorts).

Thanks Jerome,

I had wondered if there may be an agreement by both parties to abide by her desisions. I only hope that they honour them otherwise a proper court case with expensive solicitors will be needed.

Still it is fun to watch.

I sometimes see an American programme called Judge Judy. The Plaintiff and the Defendant stand before no-nonsense, straight talking Judge Judy who quickly sorts out the disputes and issues rulings.

I am curious as to whether this is actually a legal court or just a TV show?

OK in all seriousness I have never tried alternative tuning.

I know some people use alternative tuning to great effect but I have been playing standard tuning for 50 years and I am still learning so I do not want to confuse what few brain cells I have left with different tunings.

Roger

My take on alternative tunings is:

The guitar is re-tuned to play a chord with all open strings. Then someone can work out the order of where to press a finger along a fret and strum to make it sound like he can actually play the guitar.

I sit back and wait to be shot down in flames lol

It sounds like fun so I would love to hear a recording of this, or at the very least, see the lyrics and chords in the Songwriting section. wink
