Hello Sumelton1, a question, can we make this topic together? Not because of my sudden promotion, but I was without seeing your topic, writing this morning a similar topic titled NEW ALBUMS. I wrote about "fresh and new" recent albums, in this case: the brandnew John Fogerty album REVIVAL and also the new Springsteen: magic. Including the fact of a possibility to discuss and talk about songs. As you know, talking or writing about new albums is very subjective. It is far more difficult to stay objective, because there are some groups I don't like, and others I like. Better: you don't like an album, but you are "in love" with only 1 track?
Shall I join yours? Your topic has a far more nice title, but can I do a suggestion: keep the title and add maybe : Which NEW album is on your player this weeks, far more better than my title.
It is always a real good IDEA to see what's new this week or this month, I will delete my topic and place it in your topic.
Where do you live in "North Europe", I am from Belgium.

Well rogersttxczf: If you live in Europe, I love the $$ being low, but I think the Americans are not so happy, because when they need European stuff, the pay a lot.
I just was looking for an electro-acoustic Martin: 600$, in Europe: 450€
I can just add that if you are able and got the money and live in Europe, it is even worth to go to the USA.
But unfortunately I am not a prophet.

Re: THE MICROBE SONG (5 replies, posted in Songwriting)
ANSWER FOR JAMES: you are 100% correct, but I use in that song, some more difficult chords too, and I sing it using some licks, like descending on a string and singing at the same time.
Examples of the string thing, is (excuse me to compare me with him) the George Harisson song: "SOMETHING" where he starts in A and goes to A major 7 to A7.
He sings along with A, A major 7, and A7 before taking D

Re: guitar shows (5 replies, posted in Acoustic)
If you mean big events like NAMM, it is only for dealers. But a few times a year you will find guitar shows or guitar players, showing there "collection" and also to sell guitars.
10 years ago I went to a professional show, with friends who opened a music store, and this is maybe painful, there is too much to see.
Solution: prepare yourself by a kind of "preselection"to make it easier to find super brands, next to Fender, Gibson, PRS, made by luthiers who try to show there guitars you will not be able to see often. Bootleger is the man who knows a lot about such beauties.

Re: THE MICROBE SONG (5 replies, posted in Songwriting)
So this a part of second MICROBE SONG, pt 2, if Pink Floyd can write 6 songs about "shine on your crazy diamond, I have the right to do this too. I even don't think in my language, but in English, when writing or speaking (NO TRANSLATION FROM DUTCH to ENGLISH)
Why 2 songs? and similar title?
ANSWER: I can and will use them both. 1 acoustic
and 2: AND THIS REALLY HAPPENED, NAPOLEON lost the war because of the diseases, I think cholera 75% and Typhus 25%
If it wasn't about Napoleon loosing in Russia
NO PANIC FRIENDS, Chords will be added soon, and I knew that those lyrics are funny in a certain way, but I have 2 or 3 lyrics, so "if" I post them, you'll see a differnce.
One song: for electric is aggressive and true, with some, what I found nice events.
If it wasn't because of Pasteur's microscope
we should be afraid and have no hope.
If the "mics" were not outnumbered at the Russian borders
Napoleon's soldiers were to sick to follow his orders.
Microbes are nice, when it's light or when it's dark
But always be aware, they attack you like a shark
The mostly sing a song silence is golden
If protecting you, sometimes you can not hold them
I see some virusses, I see some microbes and I know them well
You have the good ones, you have the bad ones, the in betweens
You can destroy them, but you can love them, as I will tell
and if you nuke them, it will affect you, because you need them, the has beens.
Please do respect them, and treat them good, they do like also your food
Here I am convinced that there are no misspellings, and I love this one really.
It is sad, because I forgot some lines, started to sing this on my way to the hospital, that word is also somewhere in the lyrics. I say or think that the lyrics you forget, were not the right ones.
Right now, some words are coming back: it is about diseases spread by the first settlers killing a lot of Natives, and they blessed us with "syphilis" which was used as "syphilips" (my name).
I love to play with words, and if I shouldn't laugh with my physical condition, I should feel worse

Re: GOOD ELECTRIC GUITARS? $$$$$ or $ (17 replies, posted in Electric)
If I wouldn't have my collection (fender US strat 1964, my martins) I think I should go for an EPIHONE SG SPECIAL, a cheap but amazing guitar. I compared it with the normal Epiphone SG 100$ more, and my choice was made, definitely the special.
What I also like is Takamine, compared to a few years ago, they became a lot more expensive.
The more they sell a brand the more expensive they become.
But GIBSON has some great affordable guitars, in particular the stripped of Gibsons, like SG Menace, Flying V (difficult to play for me).
You can find on zzounds a gibson sg special faded for 579$ for people in Europe 407€ and 248£ for our British friends. Here in Europe, you will pay at least 900€, there are always many different roads to buy it there and when it arrives, you will pay approximately taxes included, the same price you paid in $$$ after clearing by customs

Don't worry Roger, even having a lot of time, I love it and he earns it. Maybe sooner or later I can be used, but I am so glad that I start knowing so much nice people, and that is where it's all about.
I told you that chordie gave me a new energy injection, and you know my condition, I can't sit for 15 minutes, I can stand, and if I cross my physical border, I loose concience, just caused by the pain, resulting in 3x broken ribs, a few teeth, bruces, in fact I can't describe it what I feel, the pain is part of my body, and even having a high tolerance... It is difficult to explain, and to understand.
I never skipped a day when still practising, even having twice a pneumonia. MY REAL PROBLEM IS I CAN NOT ACCEPT THIS SITUATION, but I trie to live different. And 1 day Rog, I want to knock on your door, with my guitar.

As you can see there are still no chords, because I am still thinking if I will start in Em or in C.
Please, my mother tongue is NOT ENGLISH, that' why I ask your help. PLEASE HELP ME TO CORRECT THINGS, BECAUSE INFECTIONS ARE FAR MORE COMPLICATED, AND I JUST TRIED TO WRITE THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS, THE COURSE AT MED SCHOOL = 500 pages (ONLY MICROBIOLOGY).
I am not selfish, the lyrics were written 6 weeks ago, corrected, with a melody, starting from C to Am and using Em, F, G G7 D Dm D7, like the strophe from G followed by C, a nice combination, because you can scream for help going from G to C. I don't want compliments, but advise. If someone sais "it sucks" well write your lyrics and I'll be glad to use them. I do have a lot of songs, most with just simple personal lyrics THANKS
C Am F C Am F
This is a song about some microbes, you can add a virus too
C G Am F D7 G G7
They are not all aggressive, because some of them will protect you
You have a lot of strange, weird names but is this worth to mention too
We can live sometimes together, but we’ll have to spoil them too.
Staphylococus, streptococcus, cholera and typhus, are not more funny too
They can harm you even as good friends, so don’t try to wash too much your body
Or to loose your skin in fire, because you turn some of your friends into enemies,
giving them a chance to attack you where they can, those are sad stories.
They often stay quiet and do not disturb you, thanks to our soldiers
You see with have are own protection, but what if soldiers are asleep
Like AIDS can kill a lot of people, because protection doesn’t work
They have to cross our human border, and sometimes the customs are not there
Malaria is coming with the mosquito flight 230, lands and kills a lot of us
Be always ready for invasions be aware they can attack you like our little ebola bug
So you have to fight back, there are some microbe killing drugs boy
Use them good if you can, if not they are joining the resistance without mercy
A hospital is full of microbes, you’re more safe at home, because we trat them wrong
Some nasty problems will occur, if you don’t use your common sense and listen well
Your body gives you all the information, like fever, tired well go to bed
It is amazing how they spread, they multiply by dividing, this is all so strange.
I wrote already that some of them protect us, but suddenly they can attack.
A burn wound gives them food, fresh meat without a skin, because you loose protection
Loosing skin. Rest and sleep are so important for the church your body is, you can’t prevent they are there. I hope all this won’t happen, and if they do, nuke them using drugs
Dear chordian friends, I put some chords on the 2 first lines, repeating the same on line 3 and 4
Style "light strumming, using some finger picking, and you have a catchy tune. What I really should love to see, is how others would sing it, I saw some linguistic problems: they are fixed. Despite of some microbes being scary (like anthrax) I used a more FEELGOOD melody. WHY because I have 3 completely different microbe songs in stead of struggling about the style.

What Rockerchich writes is at least 75% true (sorry chick), because he tells what most of us think, you are on the right address here. The other 25% was how I played already (30 years) before I transformed in a Chordian. You can ask as much as possible, there are NO STUPID questions, and sometimes you can get a lot of advice, not always the same, but enough to help you, and also, read "between the lines" GO FOR IT.

HE SouthPaw, This is what I like about chordie, and SORRY to ALL READERS OF THIS TOPIC.
I wrote some personal feelings BUT I USE THEM NOT TO COMPLAIN, (usually, because I like to talk about the crash sometimes. When I talk about it, it is just to try to tell people: It ain't over 'till it's over. Happiness and inner peace, and talking sometimes, are the KEY WORDS.
Yesterday: sad day, Today: a lot better. Same thing as playing guitar, 1 day super, the other less.
SouthPaw this fact I didn't know, WERE YOU PLAYING PROFESSIONAL, or HOBBY? And an unpolite question, WERE YOU ABLE TO MAKE A LIVING, playing in those 24 years?
You know MOST OF US think: look how nice it is, playing for just a number 10.000 people. THE MISTAKE THAT (MOST) PEOPLE ALWAYS DO, is telling how wonderful this must be playing and performing. THE CORRECT ANSWER IS: how many time you USE to be a "star", practising every day, until the skin on your fingers looks like concrete. While we sit in our lousy seat in the weekend, the musician has to perform. And so far as I know (I was MD for the most famous actors here, the same person you adored as a 12 year old kid, is now YOUR patient) honest: you are quit fast back on the ground. They perform on New Year's Eve, on Holidays... and you need as Southpaw sais: a nervosity, just like when you were still in college, defending your thesis, or exams.

Well, rebel, music is like art and woman.
If we should all have the same music style to love, it is subjective.
About and why woman? It is also about a person, you like that person or not.
It would be a little bit silly that we are loving 1 girl.
Nobody has exactly the same character and desires than another person.
Studies with IDENTICAL twins, teached us a lot, they are identic but 1 is growing up in a very rich family, the other in a poor family. When they meet each other, you will see that they still act more or less, in the same way, but they are different caused by their education.
I asked this question, because here in Europe, SRV was well known, but absolutely not as good as in the USA, and Jimmy almost not, except for blues and rock fans and ANOTHER point, he was part of a group THE FABULOUS THUNDERBIRDS. This is the reason why I asked about the similarity or difference, olaying guitar

Re: Different Pickups on a Fender Strat (7 replies, posted in Electric)
I agree with snailspace7, and nice to meet you here.
Once upon a time, when the animals were still speaking, you had 2 important brands, at least here in Europe.
- GIBSON: LES PAUL STANDARD, LES PAUL CUSTOM and GIBSON SG.
- FENDER, even more easy: A STRATOCASTER, OR A TELECASTER.
Today it is almost impossible to make a choice, I don't know how many different stratocasters, and I am only talking about US stratocasters, are on the market.
An important factor is: how much do you want to spend? A good advise is to go to a guitar store, and let's supposing that your budget is between 1000 & 2000$, try a few of those if possible in the store, the neck is also very important, some guitar players like a bigger neck, others a smaller. I have a US Strat 1964, and if I should sell him, I would have enough $$ to buy a few other Fenders. A pretty good choice is the relic, or a custom made, but the price is high. You can take a look to see prices on www.zzounds.com or www.musiciansfriend.com, giving you a pretty good information about prices, wood, and in fact all different guitars.
The Fender H-S-S combination: around 1200$ and a maple US standard S-S-S (coil) 1000$.
If you want to spend more (I don't have an idea about the tone) you have to go to the vintage Fenders, like a reissue '57=1400$artist serie (Clapton,...) 1500$. A cheaper US made Fender is the Fender Highway = 750$. But about the Highway, you will find different opinions.
Maybe the best choice would be a Fender Stratocaster US for about 1000$, but try to compare.

Fantastic here, eveybody helps eachother.
A chord is like this, I will try to take DO AKA C (major) chord.
ATTENTION MY CHORDS ARE LIKE THIS: O= place to put your finger, X = NO finger, name of the frets on your guitar.
x x x x o x fret: 1
x x o x x x fret 2
x o x x x x fret 3
My example is correct but a little bit strange.
www.8notes.com is a website where you can see most of chords, or else, just google guitar chords

Re: questions for a beginner (12 replies, posted in Electric)
TABS are 6 lines, each line corresponding with a guitar string, and tells you where to put your fingers, to play some intro's, songs, solo guitar.
CHORDS, they usually have a letter: A B C D E F G, these are the 7 major chords.
You can google guitar chords, and you can find a lot, not only the major chords but almost every existing chord. Here you can find songs, with tabs and/or with chords.
It is, depending from person to person, not too difficult and a chord shows a diagram where the black dots, on different strings show you where to put your fingers.
I hope this info is useful

Re: ABOUT AMPS (2 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
25Frankster, I was again lucky, also for a few guitars, and INFINITY speakers, to have one of my patients working as a high ranked custom. So when he found something special, he was really loved by people importing guitars, hi fi, by being CORRECT. So I got my Marshall valvestate 100W for maybe 250$ because there were a few scratches, and not longer to put it for sale in a Music shop. After my car crash (2000) insurance paid me really good (don't forget I paid a lot, and also the price was and is still very high, being disabled). I remember me surfing on the web some years ago, and I couldn't believe my eyes, FENDER CYBERTWIN 2x65, combination digital & tubes.
Almost all the "popular amps" Fender produced are in that amp. A lot of people I know, use Fender amps like Bassman, Twin Reverb, they told me that the sound was exactly the same(?), amazing is the fact that all the knobs for delay, distortion etc are turning automatic in that position, and than you can change a few things. I still don't understand how ingenious a human being can be. The acoustic Marshall, I didn't want at all the 100W, but they gave me time to try 50 vs 100, after 2 chords the decision was made. It seems unfair to have such things, but it was probably my way to keep myself psychological better, but after starting again, I was seeing again so much patients and I was destroying my body and mind. IT IS NOT FUNNY, at first a big relieve, followed by a huge dark period. I am so grateful that I found this site, I can even chat about other things. I LOVE CHORDIE AND ALL THE CHORDIANS

Re: WHO PLAYS GUITAR WITH THE INTENTION TO BECOME FAMOUS (20 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
Dollie, we all started to play because we love to play.
Maybe my question was not phrased like I would.
It is a common knowledge that we all dream of something, some of us wanted to be a pilot, others even wanted to be a priest. AND I AGREE 100%, I also started to play guitar, because I liked it.
Reading sometimes about famous singers, there is the eternal returning answer, I WAS CALLED TO BE FAMOUS, because they always tell you that they were singing and performing in the family, at the age of 3 to 10.
I have to confess, when I started to play guitar, and once I knew 5 chords, even composing songs, there is one I "created" when I was 20, and yes, I admit that I wanted to be a star, just because you are so happy that you play own songs (if I should listen to a song recorded on my little tape recorder, I would try to hide me or disappear in the crowd: BLENDING IN THE CROWD), anyway I think that all chordians who play guitar are playing for fun. But Doll, isn't it beautiful to dream? My biggest dream was to be a MD on a cruise ship, even worse, I was accepted on valentine's day 2006 to work on "carnival cruise lines" when talking in a restaurant with the responsable who recruited all people working in the medical sector. I was stronger than my pain that day, and despite the fact that all my friends told me that this was impossible due to my lesions, which of course I neglected. They had the right to contact the doctors who treated me after my car crash, and they did, because I had to write a new CV. This was one of the most painful moments in my life. I was promessed to start in April, and it was real hard, because even today I CAN AND WILL NOT accept my condition. Sometimes dreams become nightmares. I am also a skilled hypnotist, and I could try this, but with a paralysed leg it won't work, WHY, I will explain it Doll, by sending you a mail. I learned a lesson there: it is good to dream even to be famous, but it is real hard and painful if you are obsessed by your dreams if you are so close, to hear a NO
Sorry for this maybe "sad" answer, it can be useful for all the dreamers.

I can't remember if this topic exists, but an amp is in fact as important as an electric guitar.
What are actually the best amps?
I have a MARSHALL VALVESTATE 100W (when I push on the start button, I have to use an old piece of a credit card, because the start button jumps back).
I also have a MARSHALL ACOUSTIC AS100D, I use this one a lot to play electric, because this amp gives you a freat sound, crystal clear.
My best amp is a FENDER CYBERTWIN 2x65W a monster, and this amp is quit unique because he has tubes and digital at the same time.
These are my amps, I like them all and use them all. With a floorboard, I can connect 1 guitar to use 2 amps together.
Best amp? DEFINITELY THE FENDER CYBERTWIN, having most of the amps made by Fender and a lot of effects on board.
WHICH AMP IS CONSIDERED AS THE BEST AMP or WHAT BRAND YOU USE TO PLAY?
I am trying to search a best price versus quality amps.

Re: Problems with guitar. Need help. (4 replies, posted in Electric)
Try a guitar of a friend using your amp. After doing this there are 2 possibilities:
- Your amp, and reading the topic I noticed that there is no topic concerning amps.
- Your guitar: a little story:
In January 2007, somebody I know, wanted my "acoustic" line 6 guitar, this guitar sounded on my acoustic amp like sh**. He wanted this guitar and so we changed. I got his 12 string Burns + 400$. The problem of the noise on my amp was caused by the Variax. He went to a music store, and there they told him that a lot of acoustic variax guitars made in a certain period, were bad sounding, they gave him another, and he is happy.
So the 2 things you have to do are: using another guitar on your amp, and/or using your guitar on another amp.
So basicly I tell the same thing as SouthPaw41L and Cytania.
