I think he should try an easier song perhaps mary had a little lamb but from what I heard him play he would screw that up as well he might try bowling a few frames to release the anger or even switch to drums.

I have been playing this song since it was released the song is recorded in A some people use a capo on the 5th and play open leads(I dont) there are several options I cant say that D is the best choice but try and learn it in A and transpose to D heres a link that offers several guitar players with a vararity of choices on how to play this song.

Re: Need suggestion for how to play a chord progression (11 replies, posted in Acoustic)
you can make this accending run using an alternant A fingering try
placing your 2nd finger on the 4th string 2nd fret and your 1st on the 3rd string 2nd fret and 3rd on the 2nd stiring 2nd fret then play the chord on 4 while holding this form add the b with your 2nd and the c# with your pinky for the 2 3 acctually the 4 2 3 is the end of the 4th measure. I use this form on several songs its flexable ![]()

From my experience if you play with musicians who are on the same level as you the chances for friction are reduced, problems arise if you find you are teaching or the other way around.
