Well, Badeye, we meet each other a lot here, and MORE, I have the impression we agree about a lot of things: called the same "frequency".
That's the reason why I wrote this topic, watching and checking every single letter.
You noticed probably that I mentioned "the show element". Except for the WHO, and I mean here in particular, Keith Moon, or MOONATIC, who destroyed almost always, his drums, and besides this: hotel rooms. I can not believe that "NORMAL" musicians destroy their instruments. You, me, and so many other music players and lovers, have to work more than hard to obtain your, our "dream instrument". Well, this can be an interesting topic, about chordians versus destroyers, see you probably there again.

KILLER KARAOKE SONGS:
10 songs routinely murdered at karaoke clubs:

- American Pie by Don McLean
- Angels by Robbie Williams
- Crazy by Patsy Kline
- Delilah by Tom Jones
- I Got You Baby by Sonny & Cher
- La Bamba by Richie Valence
- My Way by Frank Sinatra (best known cover, original: Comme d'Habitude, by Claude Francois)
- Paradise By The Dashboard Light by Meatloaf
- Summer Nights by Olivia Newton John & John Travolta
- Sweet Caroline by Neil Diamond

Like Always: add some more titles.

Badeye, that's just me. I started following SIMON SAIS, a kind of comment, using words, in fact playing with WORDS. I love to do this, and sometimes I use names of artists, here I used LED ZEPPELIN, PRINCE and MADONNA. It is just fun for me, and I hope for the others too.
Most of the information in this topic, is based on real facts. Take their first album, and then the next, and so on..., you will see and hear that even "easy songs" at first sight, are a lot more complex, than you think. I don't know if there are other groups, or musicians, had a similar evolution.
Take Pink Floyd for example: you and most of us, me included, think that their songs are difficult. I was surprised that I could play along with almost every song, from the beginning to the wall. They use almost always 3-4 chords, and the rest: fantastic engineers, using sounds and effects to create their sound.

For some people: SRV is not a car, but STEVIE RAY VAUGHN: a GUITAR PHENOMENON from TEXAS.
Is it just a matter of taste? But everytime I hear SRV, I get more and more amazed about the way he approaches the guitar. HIS BODY & SOUL are so loud and clear. Also JIMI: that man could almost everything, BUT DON'T FORGET THE "SHOW" ELEMENT. His show and performance was far "futuristic", I can't find a proper word, but he did things people never saw with a "wooden piece and strings"
About JIMI: 3-4 years ago, I was still working, someone had the "authentic neck" of one of his guitars, he smashed and burned. The BIDDING price, still 6 days to go was already 30.000$ (23 bids) with still 6 days to go. BUT DON'T WORRY, you received a certificate of authenticity.
Playing with his teeth, smashing and burning guitars, are things people will remember next to his music. He did that only 3-4 times, BURNING and DESTROYING HIS GUITAR, but isn't that what we call, it stays burned, in our "collective memory".
SRV: I remember me being around Vancouver, when it was on the news. Eric Clapton should have been too, in that helicopter.
SAD DAY for GUITAR PLAYERS: we lost already JIMI and now SRV.
OTHERS stick on ELVIS and JOHN LENNON. But I remember me, even having ZERO, ZIP, 0 albums of SRV where I was.
So, who is the best: we'll have to remain in the dark. SRV could play Voodoo Chile, just like Hendrix
I think a proper answer should be: ALMOST NO DIFFERENCE, but, Jesus, I would love to see them playing together, just like the G3, VAI & SATRIANI + guests: JOHNSON, MALMSTEEN. All fantastic players.
CAN SOMEONE TELL ME MORE ABOUT THE GUITAR PLAYER Jimmy, RV, yes his brother? He is real good too, and wasn't it so that Jimmy learned him to play? Fabulous thunder birds, are they still active?

Hi Weaser, buying a good acoustic guitar is always difficult. WHY: in most cases $$$$$$.
But I did some pretty good business on eBay, we have a very strong currency, the EURO, and a guitar with a price like 2000$ will cost me 1450€, and that guitar will have a price in an European Music Store of 2500€. Even after paying the import and VAT, it will cost me about 1700€.
In fact, at this time, I don't have the money to buy a guitar like Santa Cruz, ot Taylor. (I had a car crash in 09/2000, started to work again as a DOC, but had to stop, because I suffered too much, I was destroying my body, and I am not joking, they did surgery again in 09/2005, with the purpôse to being better, and I even was so convinced that it would be allright a few months later, and I was even accepted as MD on a cruise line, my ChILD DREAM. But I was the only one, all my friends told me that I was crazy, and they were right: I WAS BLIND. Today, it is even so difficult to accept the fact that work ends for me here. The only +thing is, I am overinsured, even the taxman told me that I was probably the best insured independant in Belgium, you need 3 people to earn what I earn. BUT give me all the money in the world: NOTHING WILL CHANGE, and I can ABSOLUTELY NOT ACCEPT that fact. I have it real difficult, depending on a lot of people, and the only thing that keeps me acting positive isn't my family, but MY PC, and CHORDIE, also my guitars, and the fact that I was never a sportif type, my passion are watching movies, and I do hope that nobody suffers like I do.) My BIGGEST passion, except watching movies, are my collection of guitars, and the fact that I can write about my feelings, also here on chordie. The time I started on Monday with 50$, and returned Friday with a lot more is over.
But HERE I MAKE FRIENDS, and I love chordie because they support you, they help you...

Hello all you chordians.
I wanted to tell you something about the CHINESE people. My brother in law, owns a factory in CHINA, producing every plant, flower, Christmas trees, and a lot of other "trees". If you want a tree 2 metres high, with coconuts, they can make it.
The CHINA adventure was risky business back then. Father was a florist, but he was far intelligent. Some years (20-30) ago, the fashion was "dried flowers", and it is all a question of jumping on the right train, on the right moment. I always tell people: that train is passing your house only twice. It is a risk, but my biggest skill, and "money maker" was working with a LASER, surgical interventions, like removing spots on the skin, even correcting wrinkles. My first laser, and they do this always, was so called limited: 1 for 10.000 people. It ended up with 10 lasers for 18000 people. BUT, as I told, I had the occasion to buy a brand new laser, also capable to perform surgery (not with the first), and here, the price was 70.000$: not so funny for the wife. I write this because THAT DECISION, was the best decision in my life. AND MORE, the other doctors, were afraid to spend so much for an unknown machine (in 1988) and didn't follow. I was the first doc in Belgium having this, thjey laughed (dermatologists, surgeons) but thanks to that machine...$$$$$ and happy patients. So the CHINESE workers are REALLY ALMOST THE BEST IN THE WORLD, happy to work, they live in a village constructed by my B i L, received bycycles, food, but they earn not much. They had choises: INDIA: no & kids working, INDONESIA?? trust me, Chinese work even better than people in Korea. So I am convinced that if you start a factory to produce guitars, you HAVE TO BE IN CHINA, and you point some real good luthiers as managers.
About guitars: my first electric was a beautiful black and golden hardware, GIBSON STUDIO LES PAUL, but I had to tune her after every song, or every day, so I had the opportunity in 1996 to sell her to a big MUSIC STORE, for 3x the price I paid 1 year before, and the guitar I bought was a PRS CUSTOM 24: since that moment I am a PRS addict. I also had the luck to buy a Fender Telecaster California Beach, only for the European market in a very limited quantity. The Tele is light green and is a reissue from 1952 Tele's. Far the best guitar, and I always admire the simplicity. To find a GIBSON LES PAUL: I have ordered already 2 guitars, half the retail price, and never problems.
I think that it is better to spend some more money to buy my "dream guitar": patience is the most important word, and $$.

BOOT, you never surprise me, HOW long id you work on these guitars.
You know, I wrote it already, are there places in the USA, near you, because as I told, it is still a dream of me to build an own guitar.
Of course, in work shops they show you different models in wood, and you do the difficult part, like placing humbuckers, single coils, let's say the hardware and the finishing.

A maybe impossible question to answer, do you have an idea how (I use here a Gibson, naked) it will sound if you put, let's say 2 humbuckers, and 2 single coils, all together in 1 guitar?

GITAARDOCPHIL SAIS: MAKE THE IMPOSSIBLE POSSIBLE

To really look at what made the Beatles great, you have to get past some of the earlier, catchy-lyrics filled songs, and look at their whole body of work. Blending a mix of extensive harmonies, beautiful lyrics, and the soulful singing of the very talented Paul McCartney and John Lennon.
The Beatles really set a standard that will be measured against until something better comes along. Will there ever be something better? Well that is a debate that lover's of music will be discussing for as long as music is around.
So this topic is not about who is THE BEST, THE BEATLES OR THE ROLLING STONES.
This is more a STATEMENT, and considered as a fact.
I agree, there must be fellow "chordians" who are really pissed off reading this.
There were a lot of groups, and there still are.
From THE KINKS over THE WHO, LED ZEPPELIN, PRINCE, MADONNA, NIRVANA, and so many more.
I have to add the fact that I have a book, about the beatles: the evolution of their sound and music.
They started, as so many groups did, with "catchy tunes" 3-4 chords and they ended with some real ingenious songs.
DISCUSS!!!!!
THERE IS THIS QUESTION, AND A FACT. AS FOR ME, AND THINKING ABOUT THE ALBUMS, Never a similar album, like most groups have. Track 5 from an album=track 5 on the next, look pretty much to each other. The Beatles, it was a "NEW" ALBUM, and the evolution of tracks or songs: IMPOSSIBLE to COMPARE. You can't compare a song like PLEASE, PLEASE ME, with A DAY IN A LIFE.

Well Detman101, I don't know the brand.
I wanted also to know if it is normal to, if you know brands, you have choises. Big Brands make big $$$. I visited in 2003, Nashville, and Memphis. You can't visit the Nashville plant, but you can have a tour in the "hollowbody section" in Memphis.
When I saw the precision, making a guitar, like BB's King LUCILLE, I really was overwelmed, they always speak about "a factory" in one way yes. But I saw the love for the hollow bodies, and they just make a guitar, using a machine to cut wood, they are really concentrated while winding an placing the humbuckers. Most amazing thing: the guitar goes in a special "PAINT ROOM", just as they do when you had an accident, because the cars are also treated that way.
- Every guitar maker (it is not a luthier in fact) receive a Gibson every year, if their evaluation was good: absenteism due to an illnes, coming too late, well no Gibson.
- All the guitars are played by very good players and they play almost everything: jazz, blues, rock & roll, and after "testing" it by playing 30% of these guitars are destroyed. Why don't they put them on the market, half the price, maybe with a name like Gibson 2.

Well, this is an easy one. CHIP TAYLOR, see wikipedia, wrote that song, BUT what happened was that WET WET WET used a song written by the frontman of the troggs (calls himself Reg Presley), from which he received so much $$$ from royalties, that he said indeed: those guys make me rich, which is fantastic as retirement present.
The SONG IS USED IN THE MOVIE 4 WEDDINGS and A FUNERAL, and the title was:
LOVE IS ALL AROUND.
I feel it in my fingers, I feel it....
I suppose they both received a lot of money: WET WET WET as performers, I believe it was their greatest hit, and Reg Presley, because he got the royalties. Funny, 30 years later.

I deleted the other topic, because it was more a statement.
But here is the topic I wrote: I (re)discovered my Fender Telecaster.
I want to know if there are "chordians" who have similar experiences. You like a guitar so much, and it becomes your favourite guitar.
Well it happened to me, 11 years ago. I had the opportunity to buy a brandnew Gibson Les Paul Studio, in beautiful black and gold ware: attracted by the looks!!!!! The guitar was not longer available here on the market, because of a few scratches, so I paid less than 250$, and the Studio was at that time the "cheapest" les paul.
PROBLEM: Everytime I played a song, the guitar needed to be tuned, a real pain in the a**, and no more joy in playing a song.
So: Are there fellow chordians, having a similar problem? I was attracted to the guitar because of the looks, and I had my very first electric guitar: A GIBSON. Even in the store, a thing like this can happen.
I went to a music store, saw a PRS guitar, in 1997, while almost nobody here in Europe, except some professional musicians, knew the existence of that brand. I get 3x more for my Gibson than I paid it. Since that moment: I am a PRS addict. And here all discussions are open: what is your BRAND, the GUITAR YOU KILL FOR?and WHY.
In my case: the sound, versatility, always in tune and beautiful. But I also rediscovered a guitar, a Telecaster California Beach reissue 1952 and painted in the colours of cars, here green. The sound is amazing, if you see the simplicity of this guitar, and the sound you get. The times that you could choose between a Fender Stratocaster and a Telecaster are long gone, you find these guitars now in all categories, from cheap to expensive, if I would make a movie about the guitars we see today, the title would be LOST (but this is already taken)
What is your opinion on this topic.

PATRICKJACQUES: do you have your new guitar?
I think to be complete we have to add also, we speak here about "expensive acoustics", SANTA CRUZ and COLLINGS.
I have only experience with Gibsons and Martins.Acoustics, having a beautiful collection:

- MARTIN: D-1 (electro-acoustic) D-1 12 string, D-15, HD-28 a BACKPACKER and a D-45V (Straight from Gruhn, and comparing the US $ with our €, it is even worth to travel to the USA to buy guitars). About the D-45, she sounds unbelievable. Here in Belgium, being a quit good customer, without playing in a group, the music store asked me several times if I wanted to sell this beauty, receiving twice the price I paid it. Some, even big stores, don't have the top of the line guitars in stock. It is a real investment to try to sell a guitar like a D-45V, because, as I told, they are ALMOST NOT to find here (a D-35, or D-42, are easier to sell). So they liked to buy my D-45V, because they probably had a customer.

- GIBSON: Hummingbird, 1 early sixties, another end seventies, a Dove, and a SJ-200 Montana Gold. If you ask me which one is the best: probably the D-45V , the DOVE and SJ-200, producing a deep warm sound, and not too many bass.
I can only tell that the brand and type I play, depend on the mood, the song. Martin HD-28, is far one of the best guitars I own, without an amp, she plays easy twice as loud as the rest.
I compared, a Martin, with a taylor, and my conclusion was that they are quit similar in producing sound, the difference is not that big.
If I have money again, I would go for a TAYLOR, but which? or a SANTA CRUZ.

Every living person knows that there was a great country star, JOHNNY CASH who's career started also in Tennessee.
He was married with another famous country star, named JUNE CARTER.
There is another country player born as  Donald Eugene Lytle. It is no joke, but it is really funny that he changed his name in JOHNNY PAYCHECK. Reason: much easier to remember his name as a parody on the (real name) JOHNNY CASH.
But PAYCHECK was not a saint, he was aggressive, addicted, and spent two years in prison.
I don't know if he is "famous" or "well known" in the USA, but his records sold quit good.
Looking at both names: CASH and PAYCHECK, was funny for me, because, not being an US citizen, but living in Belgium, EUROPE, we are really kind of "retarded" concerning the Country & Western music. This music style is typical American.
Second funny fact: ask anyone you see who wrote the song "WILD THING", the answer will be the same: "The Troggs". BUT!!! They didn't write this song.
More it is written by CHIP TAYLOR, born as James Wesley VOIGHT, and this name rings a bell.
YES he is the brother of the actor JON VOIGHT his 2 year older brother, and the uncle of Madame Jolie. He wrote a lot of songs, including another TROGGS song: Any Way You Want Me and also for Joplin: Step Out of Your Mind, Country Girl City Man, I'll Hold Out My Hand, and Try (Just a Little Bit Harder) (Janis Joplin). YOU SHOULD TRACK WILD THING ON THE INTERNET AND LISTEN TO IT. The song is made in a way, that it sounds like a Senator, who sings this after a dozen of "takes"

Are there "chordians" who like to react on this, or correcting me if I am wrong? I like to know and to hear, how many of you did know this facts.

Jerome, you are 100% correct. It is not because they earned BILLIONS, that we have the right to do this. But I paid a one time "fee", 2 years ago, and I have WINMX (far the most complete site) and because they were changing winmx, I got LILMEWIRE as bonus.
But the real "thieves" are record companies and managers.
If I should finish my songs, like the microbe song, and others, I would first bring them in, to avoid other people using my songs, and put them on "myspace" and "youtube" giving people the opportunity to listen 1 minute, and than asking maybe 50 cent (no not the rapper) to download a song I wrote. Some guys made already NAME, FAME and $$$$ doing this. The internet is incredible. You write something, you mail something and what I wrote comes 1 second later in your mailbox.

As I told: GEORGE was PROBABLY the most talented Beatle, or absolutely not inferior to JOHN and PAUL, he just wasn't part of the team. See the Rolling Stones history: the person who started with the Stones, was and is still BRIAN JONES. It must be very painful to be excluded in the songwriting by MICK and KEITH. He gave birth to a baby called Rolling Stones, but he wasn't longer involved in the education of his child.
I do agree, he was a spoiled little man, good looking, fancy, a dandy and a multi instrumentalist.
It is a pity, but did he write songs?

It all started in the SIXTIES, Beatles even end 50ties, 1957 to be precisely, when a guy named Lennon started the quarrymen. From one thing came another, first Paul (GUITAR!!) and his buddy George Harisson. They had TOMMY MOORE & later PETE BEST as drummer and finally they kept RINGO, because he was more advanced. Other members: STU SUTCLIFF Bass guitar and JOHN, PAUL, GEORGE on guitar. Finally they thanked  Pete Best for his services (didn't fit in the "managers" profile. Lot of law suits, but when the serie ANTHOLOGY came on the market, BEST received quit a lot of "legal" money, because in a few songs HE played, and 30 years later he got his share. Some people say that he was more popular, followed by frictions, and he couldn't drum because of not being able to keep time.
ROLLING STONES: more or less very similar in the beginning, they both played the rock and roll, discovered in England by sailors, bringing a lot of albums from the USA. At that time BLUES & ROCK and ROLL, where played by a minority, Afro Americans and a lot of US citizens didn't even know what that music was: dark, diabolic, not done. The original line up: Brian Jones (band leader, Mic on the mic, "Kieff" Ricahards, Bill Wyman, and Charlie Watts. They had another member: Ian Stuart, kicked out of the group because "too ugly", but playing every concert and in studio, until he died.
WHO IS BETTER?
The Beatles changed the music, for ever, AND knowing that the Stones started in 1962, they had already more fame. As I wrote, they both started with R&R, like "Twist and Shout" and John always claiming that he was "petrified" when he listened to Elvis, oops, he did it again. But they started almost immediatly writing own songs, like "Please, Please me", "Love me Do", in 1962, the year the Stones started, and wearing a stamp on their faces, that they were like a rebel. Who remembers the nice suits the Beatles were wearing in the beginning.
But about who is the best? It was like a competion: FOR or AGAINST, and you have to admit, that even the Stones writing beautiful ballads like "ruby tuesday", "lady Jane"their music staid real close for years, even decades, to blues and R&R, while the Beatles starting with 3 chjords songs evolved to a group composing in fact more and more complicated songs. I have a book: "the evolution of the sound of the Beatles". What they did 40 years ago, recording an entire album in 1 week, now groups record in 1 year, was incredible.
In fact, the question Beatles versus Stones, who is the best? is a retorical question. I was once a die hard fan: "deep purple", "pink floyd", "led zeppelin", but in fact ONLY ONE THING MATTERS: DO YOU LIKE THE SONGS?
But if you want to see who wrote what, in the Beatles, I give you the following link:
http: // en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Beatles. (Google: the Beatles: wikipedia, and one of the last lines is the DISCOGRAPHY like list of Beatles songs by singer.
Also check out the songs the Beatles gave away.

Well, there you have a point. They try to make double profit.
I had once an ovation, by the way I just surfed to the Ovation site, and what did I see: a baby ovation, 2 different bodies, but the nicest is the Ovation TREKKER Model TS012 with prices near 500$, but at first sight they have a SUPER NICE LOOK. If the sound is good, better as good as their father, it looks interesting. The major problem with Ovation is, if you use it acoustic: we can speak more about the "sound of silence".
ROGER, wouldn't it be nice, and splendid to sell AIR GUITARS on eBay? hahahahaha.
I am sure, that if you ask 5$ for an "air guitar" that some people will buy it.
About the Ovations I mentioned: you have an Ovation CC012 Celebrity Trekker Travel for $179.

Zurf, my chordian friend, sorry for this response, being a little bit late. I was not feeling well, (still too much pain, and it was a little bit difficult, just because I was to much focused on my car crash, still having it hard to accept, with the decision to stop practising, a decision made at the Hoover Dam). I found strings, Martins, at least 5-10 years old, but they still look nice, and I think I will use then on my ONLY electro-acoustic guitar, a Martin D-1 acoustic, but with a preamp.
This is again a reason why I love chordie: you ask something, and you get an answer. You can make a topic, like a list of musicians, where no answer is needed, but where additional information is welcome.
I think I neglect too much, the fact that strings need to be changed. Even if your, acoustic guitar, because you can really hear everything, compared to an electric chased through an 130W amp with effects.

I was surfing (again) and I found this information, all former members who were part as musicians from the in Europe, well known group John Mayall and the Bluesbrakers
The Bluesbreakers were formed in January 1963 and became an ever-evolving lineup of more than 100 different combinations of musicians performing under that name[1]. Eric Clapton joined in 1965 just a few months after the release of their first album. Clapton brought the blues influences to the forefront of the group, as he had left The Yardbirds in order to play the blues.
So here is a list of former members, even a guy named Larry Taylor, who played with Canned Heat. Walter Trout, who played in a few famous groups, and later formed his own band. I was really in "a state of shock" reading all those names and events, like Clapton, when he left to form Cream with his buddy, see list, and being replaced by Peter Green, who left for Fleetwood Mac, and being replaced by Mick Taylor who left too to play with the Rolling Stones.
Has anyone an idea what he is doing now?
Eric Clapton
Jack Bruce
Peter Green
John McVie
Mick Fleetwood
Hughie Flint (formed with Tom McGuinness, McGuinness Flint)
Mick Taylor
Colin Allen
Don Harris
Harvey Mandel (played 9 months with Canned Heat)
Larry Taylor
Aynsley Dunbar
Dick Heckstall-Smith
Andy Fraser
Johnny Almond
Jon Mark
Kal David
Walter Trout
Coco Montoya
Soko Richardson
There was a second band: ALEXIS KORNER, in which group played also some FAMOUS musicians: some names: the group included, at various times, such influential musicians as Charlie Watts, Jack Bruce, Ginger Baker, Long John Baldry, Graham Bond, Danny Thompson and Dick Heckstall-Smith. It also attracted a wider crowd of mostly younger fans, some of whom occasionally performed with the group, including Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Brian Jones, Rod Stewart, John Mayall and Jimmy Page.
If you see and read all those names, it is almost not to imagine that 2 guys: Mayall and Korner, with all their former members, are almost "THE FACE" of music, rock and blues influence still today a lot of guitar players.
This is far the most important list of musicians who became real great names.
