Quite Cool Doug ! Wish I could've gone as well.
A poor pic is better than no pic

Wow ... that's powerfully-written high-calibre stuff, TIG. Reminds of something the late great Leonard Cohen might create. Beautiful!
Thank you TF !
To be even casually mentioned with the name Leonard Cohen blows my mind. ![]()
I really do believe it to be true though, we were so fortunate to have such great poets and songwriters that took incredible stands, on important social issues. Today it seems that not many do because they are afraid of the PC backlash. ![]()
I really am hoping for and looking forward to a Graham, Phill, or someone else's version because my voice and playing sure ain't gonna make it ![]()
Thank you so much for your kind words Rick! ![]()

This is just amazing TIG you are such a talented writer. Quite close to me we have a pub called The Dead Poets, and once a month theirs a meeting of The Dead Poets Society where talented poets and musicians showcase their latest works. This would raise the roof. Great work.
Keep It Real Thank you - That would be awesome, I'd love to get it to them. Is there a website they use ?
My suggestion would be 1999 song by David Grey - Babylon
Sweet snag there JJJ. I also like the dedication - honorable sir !
Thank you for your kind words.
I am looking forward to Graham's version (or anyone else if they so choose to).
this is the link to the chordpro version which I think is easier if you want to print or transpose keys.

Thank you so much again for you comments! ![]()

I've been working on this for about a week or so. I think I'm pretty close to where I like where it is right now. (I'm sure it needs some tweaking)
I was thinking back to all the great poets and songwriters that used to standup for people and shake the sh*t out of people's conscience. Doesn't seem that we have that anymore - hence this song. Hope you like it
[song]
{t:Land Where The Poets Died}
[C] [Em] [F] [G] [C]
do you
[C]remember when the world had it’s conscience [Em]wakened
[F]when poets dared to speak words others had [C] forsaken
[F]with choices to make and chances we thought worth [C]taking
[G]hoping that change could be a miracle in the [C] making
Chorus
[Am]They spoke of justice and freedom in an unkind [Em]world
[Am]Cried out in a voice that would not be de[Em] nied
But [F] in the shadows of time those verses have faded a[C]way
And [G]now we’re living in the land where the [F]poets voice has [C]died
[C]Words that healed, and somehow seemed to [Em] last
[F] words that changed our lives in a world so vague and [C]vast
[F]Defiant voices that put new colors upon our[C]masts
Our [G] champions of hope, fighting to fix the wrongs of the[C] past
Chorus
[Am]They spoke of justice and freedom in an unkind [Em]world
[Am]Cried out in a voice that would not be de[Em] nied
But [F] in the shadows of time those verses have faded a[C]way
And [G]now we’re living in the land where the [F]poets voice has [C]died
[C] truth spoken with the power of a rolling [Em]tide
[F] With strength in their voices and anger in their [C] eyes
[F]They would not be silenced, though many, many had [C]tried
But [G]now it seems we’re the land where the poets [C] died
Chorus
[Am]They spoke of justice and freedom in an unkind [Em]world
[Am]Cried out in a voice that would not be de[Em] nied
But [F] in the shadows of time those verses have faded a[C]way
And [G]now we’re living in the land where the [F]poets voice has [C]died
[G]now we’re living in the land where the [F]poets voice has [C]died
[G]now we’re living in the land where the poets voice has [C]died

I love the last lines !! That will be or (already was) a great hit at chordiestock!!!
Your voice was perfect for this song. Superb performance.
Jim
Mojo - That is just fantastic! Skillful playing, superb voice. I 'm liking that a lot and I'm a huge Robbie Robertson fan
Way to go --- perfect demonstration of the phrase " NAILED IT !"
Jim
And the keyboard singer reminds me of pro wrestler of days past - Rick Flair https://i.ytimg.com/vi/f_hQjgsmHf0/hqdefault.jpg
Great poster. Looks like you " Fab Four" will be having a great time!

Hope all goes well!
What branch of service did you serve in? I am in your debt for it!!
Jim
Very nice Mojo.
That will be one that Zellie can play and sing a generation or two down the line.
A great love story told there my friend!

Jim
Perfect. Thanks Doug!!!

I'll get in on this. I wanted to use them to just practice strumming along to sings. I bought a trio which you can record your chords and then it plays back. That is a great idea if you play like Russell or one of you guys, but for me it was (At least for now ) a wasted investment . I tried to use audacity but again it was way above my pay grade and patience. So I just use the record button on my computer and watch stuff on youtube
Doug
I'd like to that. How'd you do it?

I just spent some time going through the photos of the luthiers on the site.
They are so impressive. I cannot fathom the time, talent, and passion that went into creating such masterpieces.
This is art at a whole different level. I wish I wasn't 3000 miles away, I would love to see them in person.
In addition, the performers (I would anticipate) will be of matching quality - making this a really unique and worthwhile event.
Be sure to post some pictures of your visit.

I think I had that same thing happen, but then realized that where it list your songbook there is a little arrow and other song books you have are listed there . For example, I loaded a song and it created a new songbook. I had to move it to my other songbook which had over a 100 songs that wasn't initially showing. After I moved it I just deleted the songbook with that new song. s
I'm not sure that is the same issue as yours, but if it is - it may be the solution.
Have a great day
Jim
Phill
Brilliant suggestion..... just changed it !
Makes it a pretty cool story that way.
Thanks !!
Love to hear you do a version... and as always you have free license to make adjustments.
Thanks
