Dino

I think I went through about 10 different progressions and finally went with this one... I actually like how it sounds now.  When my voice recovers from this cold, I will put a copy up on sound cloud. (not that it'll sound any better, just not as painful in my throat) If anyone else wants to slam a go at it, be my guest! smile
Thanks for the advice though dino - Iapprciate it.

Amy

My Grandson Ashton  is born on same day as you - but it's Milestone #1  this year.

Hope your Birthday was fantastic!!
When we get older we tend to minimize the number in a creative way... This summer I plan to celebrate the 50th anniversary of my 15th Birthday !  smile

After a great deal of rewriting of lyrics and changing chords, I have finally reached the point where I am satisfied ( at least that I can't probably do much better than this). It did not start out as a love song, but somehow managed to twist and turn and eventually get there. Still is kind of a sad song, but not played in the blues style at all. I am going to delete the old post of the original that I posted to avoid any confusion.

I hope you like it....  I will try to get my version out sometime soon.

Jim

[song]

{t:The Other Side}

verse 1

[D]Tonight I heard a cryptic [A]message
Oh it[G] came from the other [D]side
[D] it knew my troubles,  and [A]every heartache
every [G]reason why  I 've ever   [D]cried

[D]Said it knew the pain that [A] I was feeling,
Be[G]neath  my crooked [D] smile
And [D]all  the lonely feelings, I’ve [A]ever  known
That [G]haunt me  all  the [D ]while

verse 2

[D]The other side knows the [A ]buried truth,
and my [G]deep secrets never [D]told
[D]It recalled those  loveless  [A] memories
that [G]has turned my heart stone [D] cold

[D]It knows all  fears  in[A]side my head,
that [G]sometimes scream with [D]rage
As I [D]cry out for love to[A] help me  escape
from [ G]  this cold, steel like[D] cage

Chorus
[G]Oh the message from my re[Bm]flection, as I [G]look into the[A] mirror
it’s[G] mired in lyric, yet  be[Bm]tween the lines i [G] now see it so much  [A]clearer
but [Bm]hidden within my[G] inner self, its [D] always been my  sweetest [G]lie
that [D] there was no reason for [A] you to leave , [G] you never even said good[D]bye

Verse 3
[D] The other side sees my [A]demons
and  [G] allthe false dreams I [D]chase
[D]It knows my fears and  it [A]knows my hopes
and [G]the harsh  reality I [D]face

And it[D] hears the quiet voice [A]inside of me,
When[G] I softly call   your [D] name
and[D]  whisper that I'm still   in [A]love with you
and [G] wonder if you feel the [D]same

[D] there was no reason for [A] you to leave , [G] you never even said good[D]bye
[D] there was no reason for [A] you to leave , [G] you never even said good[D]bye
[D] there was no reason for [A] you to leave , [G] you never even said good[D]bye

I believe there's a mathematical formula that Joey uses to calculate what can go into that space....... it goes   -      room area size x 2 /divided by the # of guitars/   (x + c)2=x2 + 2xc + c2  ...... a = √(GMa0/r),         if c = bread machine and x = cash on hand

Kevin

That was awesome !
One of my best friends has a similar church in a community just outside of Orlando that does a similar production.  Their church encourages  young people to participate in their music programs year around. His two sons did so - the church actually provides lessons through their youth group programs. His older son now plays lead guitar for Country star Linda Evans and his other son has his own touring band which is Christian themed.
Thank you so much for sharing this - it was very enjoyable.

on a side note - pretty long trip from Genoa to Atlanta ! smile
I also see by your avatar that you like soccer _ I played soccer in college, played briefly in the Old ASL soccer league, and have coached for over 30 years.

Have  a great New Year!

That was very good. I had never heard that version and I had always thought Johnny Cash wrote that song.  Good detective work badeye.
I also clicked on the song in the next up list by Larry Van Dyke called "the auctioneer"  -   really good as well.
It is amazing how the stories of people that these country writers knew become such classic musical hits.

A lot of talent back there in the old days !

I hope you don't think I was criticizing it - I actually thought there was something wrong with my video player on my computer. smile
Your technological abilities are way beyond my capabilities.

You guys really have it going ! It must be a blast!    I certainly wish that I could play and sing as well you .

Keep'em coming Russell ( with or without the cymbals!)  I enjoy your performances

Green Bay is not in yet- Lions could ruin their season with a win.  ( Doubtful, but possible.)

Steelers are gonna surprise someone - IF - they cn some support from their D- Line.

Amy

So sweet of you and Jim !!

Bill
Hope all is improving and you bless us with a little tune, maybe a duet by you and Dondra. smile

Thanks everyone
It is cool to have something go from how I play it and sing it to what Jim and  Rachel can do.
Jan I told them about your Dolly and Ken comment - they loved it.

With that  being said ... I love it just as much when the talented people right here on chordie do covers of my songs as well.  I certainly wish I had your abilities to sing and play.

I wish all of my Chordie friends a very Merry Christmas and a healthy, safe, prosperous, and LOVING New Year !
