hi vic
this might sound like a joke response but i am serious

go and play! even if you mate ha said he has got a singer and heres why

if you are not to everyone's liken then it is your mates fault.
if they are all drinking and hear you playing live music the chances are they will love it, especially if you can pull it off through busking
dont play all night. let them wait a while, let them play some music on the stereo or ipiod etc first, let them get a few drinks in them as well as you if you drink. Have a laugh and join in the party and see yourselgf as one of the gusts and not the entertainment even though you will be.
tak to the folk inbetween songs. ask if they want to hear anything you know.

you will have a great time and so will the party goers.

let us know how ye get on.

easy song to sing. lol lol
but i have to improvise with the guitar playing.

although this great masterpiece was written in 1975 I think a few of THE WHO songs from who's next might match it and they were out in 1971..... pure and easy, wont get fooled again, song is over..... I am biased slightly, although i do love queen too...the band that is.

I think this rhapsody song gets too much attention and is hyped up a wee bit. it is like an unaware physicology thing, the more we are told it is great the more people believe it.
I do think it is great though so I have no idea where I am going with this one.
But I do know I am going out very soon to a family get together ( wife's side) a big massive one and a few of us are going to have a right good jam session.

So before I talk more dribble that I cannot explain I will go out and buy a botle of Jura single malt.... defininetly the best whisky to come from Jura...it is the only one as well but what a great whisky it is, this is better than listening to Queen again

I still cheat wit hsome chords B,Bm, F, C#m, even A and Gm and probably a few more.
I have been playing for roughly 18 years and I still get away with it.

It is maybe best to try and do the chords properly but not essential.

Kaj,
very good advice there.
I remember my first gig. We had 10 songs and timed it in the studio to last 40 minutes. We had finished in under half hour. People thought we were doing cover versions deliberatly as punk songs.

Not got music yet for this and i am writing it as I go along. This was inspired after a guy in my work was skiving. He was pretending to be busy so he didnt have to be busy.

Chorus
I'm busy being busy at looking to be busy
so I dont have to be busy

verse 1

Im busy looking cool but really I look like a fool
but fools can be cool by the pool
im busy working I got no time for lurking
coz lurking isnt what you do when working

Chorus

verse 2

im busy driving home I dont want to be alone
being alone is not what I want at home
im busy finding a wife to settle down and have a life
coz I  want a life with a wife to live in Fife

chorus

Verse 3

i'm busy, paper in my hand I look out across the land
across the land I have the world in my hand
im busy but I get nowhere, somewhere or anywhere
im so bone idle I dont even comb my hair

chorus 6 times until folk tell you to shut up

Hi Selso,

I had the same thoughts before I done a few.
Over here I am pressuming is the same everywhere.
You get different sorts of open night mics. You get ones like a folk night where folk can all jam together or it goes round in a circle to have a turn of playing. If others know it they will play along, if not then they keep quiet and you play the song.

Other ones where you have to put your name down and they call you up. It can be for 1,2 3 songs or whatever, depending on how busy it is.

As for do you play your own or do a cover... I would say it depends on if anyone else is doing there own songs or just covers. Covers I would say would be easy to do for your first few to give you the confidence fi someone is lacking any to play in front....the nagain maybe better doing your own since any mistakes will not be picked up so much.
Mistakes!!! dont let any wee mistakes put you off, just carry on. Folk that dont play will not mind unless they are **&^$%%^ 's and any other musicians will have made one or two in their time, they know mistakes happen.

I prefer the folk sessions, I have a better laugh at them as well as good music. I sometimes play a toned down stiff little fingers song so it is not always folk music etc that gets played at these nights.

Whatever you are happy and confident at doing I would say go for both if you get 10 minutes. Do a cover and a song of your own. Cover first to get attention then yer own and see what reaction you get. But a song of your own will not probably get as good a reaction as a cover as folk will not know it. If they do give a really good reaction you know yer on a winner.

good luck and let us know how ye get on if you go ahead.

I tihnk I may have had a problem like this before ( maybe not) I tihnk it was a bug but Per fixed it.

Apart from what Alvee says which works very good and all the time here is what I do ( in case it is slightly different what you do.) But if your first book is full then there is no point in having that opened to add more into.
But anyway blah blah blah.

Here is what should happen

When on a song and you click on the " change songbook" option the page will refresh but have a choice of all your songbooks, in my case I have 6 to choose from. You click in the wee circle option for what book you want, the page refreshes again and should show the book you chose.

If this is not happening then there is something wrong. Only Per could help. he can be contacted at admin@chordie.com

Tell him what you are trying to do, tell him what you are using, internet explorer/ firefox etc

hope this helps you

Hi CW4

As Ark says there is no way and best thing to do is to print it or copy and paste into WORD.

At the bottom of your songbook index there is the option " View/PRINT SONGBOOK"
If you click on that then print you will have a book you can put into a folder. This will let you still have access to your songs while you are offline. Or just have them in as a WORD document.

When you get back online your songbook will still be here in chordie.

Enjoy CR. I dont think I could go 6 months without being online.

Spam! I have not seen someone spamming for spam, either the meat or junk emails.

I was thinking of entering a link here to spam but that would be spamming for spam.

If you keep saying the word "spam" it starts to sound really silly and not like a word at all.

Ken

cheers Ark,

I did not notice the date. Usually I notice that first to see if it is worth replying to.

Still, what happened in august 2007? lol, seems like a long time ago

Omelette de ken

6 eggs
salt, pepper,
Grated cheddar cheese
splash of worstershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon of mixed herbs
half a small onion chopped finely
2 slice of back bacon with fat removed.

take the eggs out of the shells and chuck them into a big bowl.
Whisk them a lot until the egg looks like it is going all frothy.

Add salt and pepper and herbs and worstsershire sauce.

Cook the bacon under the grill but not too much, just enough to cook it but not make it hard.

once cooked get scissors and cut it up into little teeny bits. Chuck it in the eggs and give it a mix.

Now on a high heat strart frying the finely chopped onion in a teeny amount of sunflower or veg oil or any sort of oil. Dont let them cook too long.
Whisk the eggs again then add a little bit of the cheese in the egg.

Still on a high heat chuck the eggs etc into the frying pan, mix it up a bit to help it cook quick. Once it looks like it is settling down, turn the heat down low.

On a high heat the eggs should rise and the omellete should get puffy looking.
From the heat take it off and put under the grill to start coooking the top of the omellete.
Keep taking it from the grill to the hob/ring every few minutes. Once it is set enough you can attempt to flip it. OR get a plate big enough to cover the frying pan and flip it on that then return to the frying pan with thefirst cooked part now facing up.
Add the rest of the cheese. It will melt away itself.
after flipping it over it does not take too long.

You can also cut up half a chili pepper very finely and add to this but if your wife is like mine she will not be happy. This means if you are really hungry, you get to eat all of it.

Or.

once ye have caught a fresh brown trout, pan size and ye gut it and descale it.

Chuck a knob of butter inside along with a small amount of lemon, corriander and dill.
wrap it all up into an envelope and place it on the rocks next to your outdoor fire. Turn frequently. Depending on the fire it should cook in a bout half hour.

Open tinfoil carefully, open it up and dig in.

( no need to eat the head or the tail or the fins. these can all be cut off before cooking if one prefers not to see the fish looking at you just as you delve in)

Bit disapointing if you ask me. A slow tune!

And like I said in the comments, I am sure someone was out of tune.
