i have done a few songs that i'm about to record in the next month. some people have said that i should put them forward to some producers/publishers of some sort. i'm not sure who is out there to send my work to or what steps i need to take after recording onto cd.I dont want to be a pop star or any thing, i'm in a band & love doing what i do but wouldnt mind just selling cd's & would love even to do sound tracks to documentries/adverts/appeals.do you have any info/advice you can give me or am i being unrealistic & wasting my time?

i bought a tiny sony mic that plugs into the mini disc,it's brilliant sound quality, you can clip it to your clothes whilst singing & playing your instrument.it's a good way to do it,easy to use because if your recording goes wrong you just delete at the click of a button & start again, you can name each song on there too.only thing is i'm unable to transfer it onto cd as i dont have the gear to do so, so if you know what i need or should do,please reply. cheers

met some people at the local open mic. they're fab. we are now in a band & i have shown them my own music, which our lead guitarist likes. Hopefully going to the recording studio soon to do a cd. not quite sure what i will do with myself/cd from there.the guitarist is ace & he kindly agreed to play along with me for my cd as i'm not so great at playing.i love our band,it's fun & i'm doing what i enjoy, which is singing.do you have any ideas who i should show my work to & what to do with my cd once it's recorded? <img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_razz.gif" border=0 alt="Razz">

I have only been playing guitar for 3 months & a friend introduced me to chordie. i'm the sort of person who needs to learn a song to learn to play. i cannot read music at all, i have no discipline to do so. chordie has been brill as i've found a few songs i knew  & started playing them. my playing is still limited as i dont know all the chords but am goin to have guitar lessons. but thanks for the kick start.

I'm no teacher but dont really believe that books can help every body. the way someone told me was just to practice breathing whilst singing ie sing a word & see how many seconds you can hold it for. take deeper breaths then too hold it longer or in different notes.sometims i record myself singing & then sing along to it & figure out what sounds better. i was also told if you have tried enough but still cannot hit the notes you cant force it just sing in a lower key or choose another song. i suppose practice makes perfect but then no one is perfect in my opinion apart from opera singers of course.

i'm no pro but i also record songs that i sing & write & was just using kareoke tape deck but the quality was poor. so i bought a sony stereo mic that plugs straight into a mini disc player & now just record off that. it's brilliant especially if your playing too & the sound is brill too. the only thing is you then need to transfer your music onto a larger disc. mini discs are so quick & easy to use & you just go over & over until your happy with your song. Dont buy from sony shops as it is £125.00, i got mine from ebay & paid £18.00 brand new & including postage. shows u a picture it's model ECM-DS70P.

I am a singer who also writes her own music, never played in a band but would love to at some point. I have been playing the guitar for couple of months, not too well but enough too have made some songs of my own. I would prefer to conentrate on my singing as i find it hard doing the two. I like to sing dido style of songs, but also like country music.although i have my own style. the only thing is most bands are already well established in their style of music or they do covers of artists. so do you suggest me just finding a guitarist to play for me? how hard is it to find a band?

are u still trying to find a name? the fact that u got a band together is a good start, so why not call it something like, (3 muskateers) or (3-got together) or however many of u there is ur band, or all of ur first intials- this may sound a bit cheesy to you though. good luck.

I have been playing guitar for 3 months & have written my own songs. I am teaching myself but am not getting too far. I have written approx 15 songs that have guitar chords to them. I feel that i cant move on as i dont know all the chords & dont want my songs to start sounding to similar to the last. I'm only playing so that i dont have to sing without music at open mike. Although i do enjoy playing i feel that i will never be a proper guitarist, the singing & songwriting is me. I'm trying to explore more chords it's just not happening, shall i get a guitarist to play so i can concentate on my bit & then just play & practice when the guitarist is not about????

I am a singer songwriter & have also started playing the guitar. I've only been playing for 3 months but am teaching myself as i cant read music. The problem I have is that i'm not really a player i'm kind of just doing it so that when I go to open mike night that there is some back ground, as I dont like to sing without any music. I would love to share my songs with a guitarist but am worried he/she will laugh, even though at open mike people say they like my songs, i'm still not sure.Someone i know also said to be careful no one else takes the song for their own. I do have guitar chords to go with the music i've written, but am trying to write new songs & as i dont know all the chords this is now becomming difficult. I have approx 15 songs with guitar chords. What shall i do? Please can you advise me or help in any way.
