Agreed. Wrist position is so, so important. I developed a real bad wrist position from always playing while sitting and watching TV. It's a hard habit to break and I struggle with it. My palm is almost always flat on the neck unless I make an effort. Amazing how far I've come with such a basic flaw. It's almost like relearning

I toyed with the idea of buying a 6 string banjo. Sure, I agree it's not really a banjo but it'd be a fun thing to have and play and no learning curve!

With all respect to Epiphone, it'll be hit or miss. The quality varies quite a bit on the low and mid tier. And it's not just Epi that's guilty of this. Probably made in China; they're all hit or miss. If you play it and it "feels" good; go for it. If you're ordering over the internet, I'd advise you not to....spend an extra 20.00 and get your hands on it...

I have a Takamine EG561C, I'd put it up against any acoustic within 500.00 for playability

I like it! It's great to see you posting. It's a shame real life takes away time for playing. I hope you get back to it soon. I've always enjoyed your stuff.

Audacity is a free download that will do it. You can do just about anything with Audacity but it takes ome getting use to. You can change speed, key, amplify or even remove voices in some cases. Russel Harding put me on to it maybe 2 years ago.

+1 I'm pretty sure you can import the mp3 into Audacity and slow it down.

Technical prowess aside, my earliest serious inspiration came from Willie Nelson's mellow acoustic fingerpicking style. I tend to value creativity above technical precision.

+1 on Willie....tastiest solos!!!! His Rainbow Connections solo is one of m y all time favs!!
And I'd add David Gilmour to that list too. Sometimes what you don't play is as important as what you do play. Listen to Pink Floyd's Animals or Wish You Were Here albums for some truly awesome uses of notes and silence.

Common.....real common......no worries. My Yamaha F series did that too shortly after it was new. It's 25 years old now and still finw with all original parts

It's the business. I think it comes from the pressure put on  bands by the record companies. And remember an unsigned band has 10 years wotrh of material which they cherry pick for their first couple albums after that it's all new and fairly rushed. I write a hundred songs and only like one or two.....

After striving to get signed it's probably too hard to "push back" when your label asks you to try to be more like this or that. The great ones find a way around it but even great bands have bad albums.

You are absolutley right> I am very dissappointed in bands that have a great 1st couple albums and then just dissappear or turn into "pop" bands....sad state of affairs and the reason I no longer listen to mainstream radio

Knock 'em dead Ken... just close your eyes and let it rip.....

I'm so happy you"re giving it a go> Your stuff is top notch and you owe it to yourself. I'm rooting for you. BTW, I am also way too afraid so maybe you'll inspire me too.

Palmer is one of those brands that was made all over the place> I don't think you'll have much luck tracking the origin> However.....if you like the way it feels and plays buy it. A used Palmer strat copy is probably worth the same as a Rogue, Squier or the like>

Country is now Alternative Country.  I couldn't believe it when Waylon, Willie, and Johnny started showing up on the Alternative Country.  No.  They're not alternative.  They're the real thing.

I like that Zac Brown Band, though.  Like them a lot.
