People in Ohio with rebel flags. If you wanna wave a rebel flag around in the south, go ahead, honor your heritage or whatever... but in Ohio? We were in the damn Union! (Thank god)

lol thats ticks me off too... but on my list of things i absolutely HATE are ppl who fly the flag for the wrong reason with no idea what its supposed to stand for. Folks who fly the flag just because they're racists give people like me a bad name.

ANother thing I hate is people who fake it. Im a christian but i can't stand holier than thou idiots who think they're better than everybody else... and ESPECIALLY hate gospel quartets who suck but they want to prance around and take your money like they're good....

and then of course there are my littler pet peeves like tuning the B string (always have trouble with that one for some reason) and the smell of eggs frying (im allergic and it makes me nausiated) and green beans that aint cooked right.
THROW SOME BACON GREASE IN THERE OFR GOD"S SAKE!!

ok heres the story:
ive been playing for a while, first on a junky old pawn shop guitar i bought from my cousin and these days mostly on my dad's epiphone acoustic (and my strat but thats beside the point). Now my brother's wanting to play so we're planning on buying a couple of acoustics so my dad can have his back. TO get the money we're selling a couple of other instruments but we're pretty sure we'll have around 300-400$ a piece to spend....
So the discussion is, whats the best acoustic guitar for that price? We don't neccisarily have to have the same one since he's just started and i kind of know my way around more.
The epiphone my dad has is awesome but then its thirty years old and most of the ones ive seen dont seem as high quality as they used to be (or am i wrong?)

hmmm... hey there was an article about this in the national geographic one time. I think rap kind of evolved from that crazy 'jive' talk and music in the 70's ....

I don't think you could actually narrow it down to one person, but the list would be something like

Hank Williams
Johnny Cash
Willie Nelson
and probly George Jones and merle haggard

Don Henly says you're full of beans.  The song is a metaphor for the music industry in Los Angeles.  Musicians enter it of their own accord, and then find they're stuck in that system forever.

They stabbed it with their steely knives..

That is a lyrical shout out to Donald Fagan, of Steely Dan fame.  They had referenced the Eagles in their song "Everything You Did."

All of that has been stated by the guys that actually wrote Hotel California, and are probably best suited to tell us what the song is about.

And it aint SATAN!!!!

Hey that one actually makes sense lol

Im a christian but personally i think whoever wrote that stuff about it being the devil kinda went off the deep end. You can analyze pretty much anything and come up with SOME way its "evil". If we start doing that we'll be like the almish before too long....

But he did not write them alone most of the time they were either co-wrote by Garry Rossington, Allen Collins or Stevie Gaines. And as Ronnie said Man can that boy play.

Bootlegger.

Yeah I guess you're right... I don't know it just seems to me without him they're just not that good anymore, or at least not AS good anymore.

lol well thats america for you.it ticks us off too but what can you do? Money can get you everything over here.... including 'get out of jail free' cards. Celebrities get off on all kinds of stuff that they'd lock me up for... then again you have to consider that most celebrities live in california and california is a kind of crazy seperate country all on its own.

um not any kind of expert on any of this... but i just wanted to say that i agree about axl rose i mean how many guys do you know that can hit those kind of notes... and is anybody else impressed by the singer from shinedown's voice? he can hit some crazy notes

yeah well amen them aint high heeled sneakers
and they shore dont look like cowboy boots
and that aint rock n roll ur playing
and it shore aint country rythym and blues....
lol just had to sing a song called dinosaur since we were talking about it.
Anyway thats a good topic (you seem to come up with a lot of good ones). I think a lot of these older bands need to learn to 'age gracefully'. It kind of corrupts the memory of the stones' greatness if u hear them and they dont sound as good....
ANother one im kind of ticked off about is lynyrd skynyrd. ronnie van zant was the heart and soul of the band and i dont think they should have tried to come back. Dont get me wrong gary and steve and allen were great musicians but ronnie wrote everything... srry 'bout that skynyrds one of my mild obsessions

Well they say some of zeppelin's songs were intentionally recorded to have demonic messages.... im not sure which ones but its probly pretty easy to look up.
Theres one by Ozzy too (srry i know im useless but id ont remember the name). That one I heard.. he said something about satan...
Im a christian too but I think ppl can kind of jump off the deep end with this stuff. The guys that recorded those songs probly just did it to see if anyone would make a big deal out of it... it IS interesting though. As for the elvis thing.... elvis is dead get over it.

I like guys like Skynyrd, uh let me think, Allman Brothers, Marshall Tucker, AcDC, ZZ top, little bit of Metallica (guess thats not really that old), and im starting to listen to black sabbath and blue oyster cult....
yeah and like stuff like bb king and john lee hooker too...

I have an epiphone acoustic and a squire strat. Im pretty good with chording and simple tabs on acoustic but im trying to step out and actually learn how to play my electric lol .... never had a day of lessons so im basically self taught. anyway thanks for the advice/help
