Actually I have gotten pretty good at my barre chords so that helped alot. While I am still learning, I have improved so much in the last few months, at least in my opinion, mostly due to this site, and help from others here. I've really praticed the barre chords hard, everyday, even have the barred F down great, but I still have lots I come apon that I need to ask questions, so, bascially I'm learning something everyday. Oh Caracena, nothing wrong with the way you answered, I would call myself an advanced beginer, if thats makes sense

I love both Dylan and Young, I think Bob Dylan is most likely the best song writer that ever lived, second in my opinion would be Jackson browne, of course I'm sure others will disagree, but hey!, thats ok, thats what gives music it's variety!

Hi Zurf,

I'm a big fan of Kenny Chesney, love his music, , even his songs about the Caribbean, I've been lucky enough to visit several of the Islands in my life, even the one he has a home on, ST. Johns, in the USVI, it's such a beautiful Island.

Ok so I play all 6 strings, even in his song book it shows not to play it, or at least it's X'ed out anyway, I've noticed he has several strange ways to get certain chords in certain songs.

Hi Everyone,

I have a question on the proper way to play a certain chord "chords", actually I see lots of chords that are like what I'm gonna try to explain, for example in Jackson Browne's song "Late for the sky" there is a chord called G7SUS4, now in this chord you hold down the E and B strings in the first fret, while holding down the low E on the 3rd fret, with the G and D strings open, ok, I know easy enough, but, you play all the strings with the exception of the A string, so I guess my question is how do you properly play the low E, skip the A and then the rest of the strings, hope this makes sense. Thanks for any help guys!

Hey SouthPaw,

In that "Wonderful tonight" tab...You have playing the E on the fifth Fret then the B, which I know means bend, then the 7th Fret on the E string, but do you mean to slide from the Fifth to the Seventh, or am I missing something, and is there a little more to that riff? Thanks for your help SouthPaw.

Hi Guys,

I generally play the acoustic guitar, but I have a chance to buy a Gibson Les paul special for 700.00. Now I know it's a Gibson, but, How can I tell what year it is?....What else should I pay attention to in so far as the guitar is concerned? What can anybody tell me that I should know. It has "made in the USA" imprinted on the back of the neck, it's a cutaway, it's black, but as far as details what should I know, and assuming everything is as it should be, how good of a deal do you think this is? I appreciate any and all advice.

Hey Guys,

This was suppose to be rock singers, now maybe my idea of rock is different than some, but while I suppose Micheal Bolton does have a good voice "I don't like him", but the guy never sang a rock song in his life, he's "at least to me" a soulful pop singer, not rock and roll. Just my opinion

Hi SouthPaw,

Thanks for your help, I checked it and on that chord site, they have different variations, it was the 10th varaition that he uses. I love his music and have always been a big fan, I think he's one of the great songwriters of are time, well in my opinion anyway. His first five albums were great, his guitar player quit him after that, he was kinda the sound behind Jackson, his name was David Lindley, although Jackson plays both the guitar and piano,...so again thanks for your help!

Hi Everyone,

I'm a big Jackson Browne fan, at least of his first 5 albums, anyway..he has a chord in some of his songs that is easy enough to get, but I've never seen it before, I've noticing it in several of his songs from his Deluxe Anthology songbook. I guess I'm just wondering about the name of the chord it'..... D#o7 ...except the little o is smaller and at the top half of, or raised up to the top between the # symbol and the 7  I hope this makes sense, is anyone familar with this chord or know what it's called, I'm just curious, thanks for any help

Thats good advice Old Doll, I have a friend who's little girl did the same thing, thank God she wasn't killed, but she was seriously injured. After a long hospital stay, "two hospitals" to be excat, and several months of therapy she is doing great now, but it could have been much worse. So please, as Old Doll said, if you have small children, be aware that this can happen.

Hi LesPaulGuy,

I've seen Johnny Winters twice, but believe me, this was long years ago. I was, and  still am  a Johnny Winters fan, he put on one of the best concerts I ever saw in Charlotte North Carolina, he had a bluesy rock and roll sound, with a Texas twist to it, I feel certain SRV, had to be a fan of his. He has a younger brother that more people may have heard of "Edgar Winters..he did the song "Frankenstien" and "Free Ride" that are still played today on classic rock stations here in the USA.

Hi Phil,

I'm thinking that while I know it's sad to play alone, as I have, that certain things can be gained by both playing alone, and with someone who's better, so that in my position I can learn more. But I'm thinking that since your playing is at a level that the people who are lucky enough to hear you, realize that there is quite possibly a certain feeling in your music, a certain sound, or depth that comes from your uniqueness, or your individuality, your quality that makes you different from all others. so..playing alone or with someone, your still playing, thats whats important!

While I agree with what Zurf had to say about this subject, I am trying to learn to read music, I think any advantage, you can gain will improve your playing ability. I do like putting my own style to a song however, but music notation can give you a step up, even if you don't play a song as it's excatly written, you can use it in other songs and places that make it more interesting.
