Yep, a couple of my favourites have been mentioned. Sheryl Crow, whose music I love listening too and PJ Harvey, whom I named my guitar after.
Another one that I've found myself starting to enjoy is KT Tunstall, wasn't that keen on her at first but the more I listen too her the more I like her.
I love it when that happens, y'know just gradually finding new bits n pieces here and there that turn you on to a certain song or style.

Jonni Mitchell, whom although I aint that keen on her music ( big yella taxi being the exemption) is also a helluva good guitarist.

Ok......so the best female guitarists............In no particular order.....the best are:

There is this girl named Nori Bucci that plays some RIPPING stuff.....I was blown away the first time I heard her.....she has some videos on YouTube of course......I think the name of the band is Gamalon or something like that. 

AND OF COURSE......How could everyone overlook Ani DiFranco?  I mean C'mon.....she uses something like 29 different tunings and she ATTACKS the guitar in a way that is all her own.  She truly has a unique sound.

All that humble Pie is good for the vocals! only joking!
The procedure now is a doddle compared to 26 years ago , when i had it done first!
The Specialist then, Asked me to put out my tongue! He then wrapped gause around my tongue and held on for dear life... I went into shock, He is telling me to say E, and breathe! At that stage i did not know which orifice to breathe through. 
But He was a great Man, said "if i done what i was told i would continue to sing for Many more years". He was right! I still think he should have been a rodeo rider, with the grip he had!
Now they numb the throat with spray, and use a fibre with a camera smaller then my pinky nail. I could sing Barcelona like Cabellé while having it done {I wish }. Moral of the story? All you up and coming singers, Start learning your breath control now. Keep well Hydrated and always warm up the vocal chords before singing..... Good luck Upyerkilt, for the 18th.

well me being a female guitarist i have really noticed the lack of females in 'greatest guitarists' polls but im not sure whether its an  im-pretty-sure-you-guys-are-a-older-generation  thing (im only 14,) or a  lack-of-awesome-young-female-guitarists-that-i-know-of thing  because i dont recognise any of the names of female guitarists mentioned here! i think that the chicks must surely b outnumbered with the amount of female vs male guitarists especially coz i dont know any females personally who play guitar but i could give a list of male guitarists i know ranging frm ages 11-50. anyway just my little piece to add.    amy
