early this morning around 3:30 am I awoke from a nightmare and found myself on the floor with cuts bleeding from the forehead and face I have had nightmares before but not one that lifted me out of my bed I drove myself to the emergency hospital where they had to put stitches on my forehead and nose to close the wounds I also peeled off a portion of the skin on my face,I couldn't understand what I had stuck myself on to cause that much damage so I looked around and my tripod camera case was laying on the floor it seems I injured myself on the corner of the case there was blood all over the floor and my bedding hell of a way to wake up! I do remember the dream its a bit cloudy but there was some creature that was about to attack me and I was fighting to get away I did this time I think I prefer the dreams where I am in the arms of a beautiful lady a lot better so pleasant dreams to all of you and I hope you never have one like mine and I hope I dont have any more ![]()

Re: Barr chords (6 replies, posted in Music theory)
another point is it helps to number the notes in each scale as an example:
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8
C D E F G A B C now you can understand a 1 3 5 chord just look below the number you can do this in any key the most common chords played in a key are the 1 4 5 6 there are tons of songs that use the 1 4 5 and do wop songs that use 1 6 4 5 progressions you can substitute a minor 2nd for the 4th so the progression would be C Am Dm G (1st 6th m2 5th) otherwise its C Am F G another variation is to play C C6 Dm G the C6 is a substitute for a Am as its built on the 6th interval A (refer to the above chart)

Re: Barr chords (6 replies, posted in Music theory)
the other question you asked "what makes it an F in the first place" is another part of basic music theory its easy to get lost understanding and sometimes trying to explain you have to take it a little at a time to really let it sink in but to start with a major chord is made up of three notes in the key: a F major scale uses the notes F G A Bb C D E F the reason the B is a Bb is because of the intervals in a major scale,if we use the C scale its easier to understand this formula 1 1 1/2 1 1 1 1/2 or whole whole half whole whole whole half each major key is laid out the same way now a simple C chord has the notes CEG the reason being a major triad is the Root (C) the 3rd (E) and the 5th (G) or 1 3 5 this is a C major chord thats enough for now learn this much and you can use this formula later to figure out the notes in any scale and to constuct major chords, minor chords are 1 b3 5 or C Eb G like I said its a lot to learn but you have to start somewhere ![]()

Re: Barr chords (6 replies, posted in Music theory)
articfox a guitar neck has frets each fret is 1/2 step apart the F shaped chord raised to the next fret is a F# or Gb understanding the major scale is important to identify how the neck is laid out but if you move the F chord 1/2 step up the neck (toward the hole) these are the chords:
1st fret F
2nd F#(or Gb)
3rd G
4th G#(or Ab)
5th A
6th Bb (or A#)
7th B
8th C
9th C#(orDb)
10th D
11th D#(or Eb)
12th E
13th F so now your an octave from where you started
each major key is divided into 8 tones starting with C (no sharps or flats)
and they go's thru the musical alphabet
C D E F G A B C both the low and high C are the same only 8 tones apart (an octave) a book on musical theory is helpful but there are online sources to expain the sharps and flats of each key hope this helps as a starter ![]()

hi Selso its been a spell hope all is fine with you and yours glad ya like the tune it was a challange but Phill is great to work with I have a new one I am still messing with cant wait to get it arranged a little better take care
Ya know, I finally listen to this and I gotta say I really liked it. It's written very well structurally. I really like the way you changed it up from Russ singing in the intro to Phill's parts through out, then ending on Russ again. Just goes to show you don't have to write a song starting with a verse. And I really like the lyrics.

not really tube amps are reliable just need to be handled with the same care as instuments I like the "warm" sound of tube amps over solid state and the hot rod delux is one kick a** amp economics forced me to sell mine or I would still have it (rent) but I have some newer equipment now but I still miss the hot rod ![]()

Livebaitman I had one for several years great amp lots of power and sound no problems with it its a Fender and I originally moved your post to the market place as I thought someone might have a amp for sale and give you a jingle its a new forum and the guidelines are still being laid out so the fault is mine this is where Roger suggested the topic should be so I moved it here good luck with the new amp ![]()

Topic: Drifting thoughts (17 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
It's raining today so on my second cup of coffee I remembered something I had heard it was a comment "I like the way you look" on the surface this compliment implies approval of appearance but my thoughts became analytical the "you look" got me to thinking what we see all around us trees, earth, water everything in the universe including our thoughts are a form of energy they only appear solid but in reality (here's where it gets weird) a piece of rock, skin,a drop of water is a combination of molecules broken down these are groups of atoms which in turn are broken down to protons, neutrons and electrons and even smaller particles so infinite they cannot be seen even under the most powerful electron microscopes there existence can only be theorized it is infinite withing and without by without I mean we look to the heavens, the stars far away galaxies endless trillions of light years no end no beginning I thought of our earth, our home a spaceship that is aligned the precise distance from our sun to give us just the right amount of heat and light for life to thrive a unique atmosphere that allows us a window to see out and gravity that keeps our atmosphere and us from floating off into the void then I thought of our cycle of life from nothingness to birth maturity to old age and death the completion of the cycle we return to nothingness we leave behind all we were, our dreams, family, friends, accomplishments and failures and our bodies alter the molecules change and form other complex molecules as we decompose but matter cannot be destroyed only altered so take heart what was you physically will still be around in some organic configuration but what happens to the "I am" your conscience awareness this is the age old question so what is thought? science tells us electrical impulses (synapses) there's that word again electrical (energy) so I wondered where dose this energy go? is it dissipated after the life giving blood discontinues feeding the cells of our brain or is it released into the vastness of the unforeseen perhaps some parallel portal of time that awaits the creators final evaluation "I liked the way you thought" or not I need another cup of coffee
