Haha Badeye - the fish !!! :0)
great song to listen to while gearing up for saturday morning tv !
Country songs like this always take me back in time.
You should get a tv spot doing what your doing - finding great music that has been forgotten and enlightening people.
I was thinking though as I watched this ----- if it was Flint Michigan I damn sure wouldn't be eating any of those fish!
Thanks for sharing
Nice one Badeye
If that doesn't get your feet a tappin' on Friday morning - better have your pulse checked !
I always look forward to your posts!
Thanks Man
Jim
Well done my friend.
As I was reading the lyrics, I kept saying to myself - where is the line " where I belong" and alas - last stanza - there it was - where my bones belong" !
When I gave it listen, I thought perhaps it was a bit too fast tempo though, I thought it was going somewhat fast for the emotion of the lyrics to set in.
Love the concept though.
I was just thinking about this the other day in fact. I'm sure it resonates with all us old farts.
Thanks for another great song Phill
Jim
Russell
That was fantastic !
I have never heard that song, and I agree with Roger - no need to listen to the original - this is awesome in it's own. You bring the feelings of the of the heart into every note played and vocalized. Your performance is captivating because the passion you put into it is as if it were the first time the story was told , which is always the best!
Russell,. a really great performance- I enjoyed that a lot.
Thanks for sharing

Mojo
You paint the picture with your lyrics like a Picasso.
I can see your group very vividly in my mind.
Thanks for sharing - well done!!
Jim

I added a verse - I thought it was lacking.
I'll try to re-do the soundcloud version with new lyric asap.
Good stuff BGD ! Keep them coming !
I was at a GD Concert in NY many years ago......
I guess I would say it was " Just a smokin!"
This from Paul McCartney upon hearing of George Martin's death.....
I’m so sad to hear the news of the passing of dear George Martin. I have so many wonderful memories of this great man that will be with me forever. He was a true gentleman and like a second father to me. He guided the career of The Beatles with such skill and good humour that he became a true friend to me and my family. If anyone earned the title of the fifth Beatle it was George. From the day that he gave The Beatles our first recording contract, to the last time I saw him, he was the most generous, intelligent and musical person I’ve ever had the pleasure to know.
Pretty much settles the issue.
Love the Beatles !!
Jim
nela
Sorry for your troubles.
Stay safe
Guess the song should be The Soggy Bayou Blues!
Yes - major contributor to great music.
I was angry at CNN however when the posted that he was " a major part of the BEETLES"
pretty much describes every night I try to sleep after the team I coached lost.
Funny how when there is a win... i sleep like dog without a worry.
I might add.... my wife generally lets me know when it's time to head for the coach on such nights
Thanks TF Fantastic look at life in a poem !
Luther
Very well written !
Great message

That freaking cracked me up ! That story should get sent into the Reader's digest magazine.!!!
BGD - it's still awesome man - do you know how many of wish we we were good enough to go do a show - you are blessed - don't let a couple of mess-ups bother you !!
Jim
Ok = this is my futile attempt to play and sing this song.
funny how it sounds really good in my head, but when I play and sing it into a mic - ahhh not so good.
but anyway - here it is and maybe one of you good players and singers can do an improved version.
I actually think of Bill singing this to Dondra
- since he spends so much time with her and they are in constant care of each other.
Hope you like it Bill !
Thanks for listening.

Here is the you tube link to the song I wrote, and Phill so graciously performed.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n6BRU52-3cQ
The Giraffe, Zebra and Frog are in there bc Phil said his Grandaughter was anxious to see it.
Hope she likes it Phill
and I hope you chordians like it too.
Thanks for watching it.
Jim
p.s. I feel funny posting this in "My local band and me", cuz Phill is thousands of miles from me.
sure Amy
just let me know
Thanks for the reply to both you and Phill
I know it's probably been posted somewhere already, but I can't find it (:
When I go to my songbook, the songs there have the chord grids and are in Chord Pro display. But when I post a song I wrote in songwriting using Chord Pro format it does not show the chord grids ( like it used too).
no do they display in chordpro format.
I went to " How to post a song" and re-read it - and it isn't any different directions than before.
Am I doing something wrong or is that just one of the things they still have to adjust ?
Thanks
Jim
TF
That is awesome !!
So spot on it's incredible.
My wife tends to compare me to another friend ( bachelor) that has a lot of $, goes all over, has beautiful cars.
My answer is always the same when she does,I simply say " he doesn't have you or our daughters - I win!"
Thanks for sharing TF. Very good work!
Jim
Chordpro error: This is not a valid artistname. You will have to specify an artistname in the form {st: Artistname} in the beginning of the code.
Badeye,
Seriously - yesterday I actually looked at the date icon on my computer bc I thought somehow I messed up and it was Thursday - when you didn't have the post. up.
Leadbelly is awesome - what a wild life he had. His Biography is a good read.
His song "Where did you sleep last night?" is one of my favorites - it's actually how I discovered Leadbelly. I thought it was a Kurt Cobain / Nirvana song - but after researching found that they just were covering good ol' Leadbelly.
Thanks for the Blues with Saturday coffee and cartoons !:)
JIm
I never thought it was a stupid song - I liked it
Thanks Arkady
I added the lyrics and chords in my edit.
