Good luck.  I wish you well.  If I were close enough, I'd help you out on bass but don't think you'd want me on guitar.  250 is about the largest audience I've played for on bass.  12 is about the largest audience I've played for with guitar, not counting the raccoon or the 'possum.

Welcome to Chordie.  I look forward to your stories and your input.  Good luck with your job search.

I don't have to imagine it.  I do that much driving to fish, often without sleep.

It's a Rick.  There'd be something wrong with you if you didn't get all warm and fuzzy.

I've only once ever played on a Rick.  I remember each note.

I'm hosting a musical affinity group for my church at my house.  An affinity group is nothing more than people with a common interest getting together to pursue that interest, with the hope that the people will take an interest in one another's lives and, you know, care.

So anyway, we'll be meeting the third Saturday of each month.  The first one will be October 15 from 7:00 - 8:30 PM.  I'll have some soft drinks here, but you'll have to feed yourself before or after.  All are welcome.  You don't have to attend my church, and you don't have to be a Christian.  If you've met me face-to-face, you'll know that I speak plainly and from the heart on matters of faith.  No mumbo-jumbo.

Other than taking a few minutes at the end to pray for and with one another, the format will be the same as a river jam campfire.  I am hoping for a wide range of ability and age.

For those who live in my area (Northern Virginia, USA), I'd love it if you could come by on October 15 and help me to get this kicked off.  JETS60, Detman101, do you have your ears on?

If you want to come, e-mail me and I'll send you my address.

I've got that same amp.  The Shure line of mics are what my brother-in-law uses.  He's been pro for a long time.

Way to go Zurf!!! Now go treat yourself to a big dessert. Oh wait.......

I went with a big plate of pasta and a couple glasses of a cheap D'Abruzzo.  My wife says I'm not allowed to date bold, cheap, fruity red Italians.  So I drink them instead.

Let it get a lovely patina, so long as it isn't sticky or gross.

As a bassist, I always played the alternate bass note of the chord when a slash chord came along.

That's the waist size of the jeans I put on this morning.  I haven't seen 38 in a long time.  I haven't weighed myself yet this month.  I'm a bit afraid after what I ate in the second half of July and all of August.  But I'm back in my routine with Chuck Norris' torture machine and either the Demonic Dominator 2000 elliptical or biking or hiking.

I'm fairly pleased.  I didn't have to squeeze into them either.  They actually fit.  Loose cut, you know, but still.  38 waist size.  I was squeezing very tightly into 40s a year ago and really should have been in 42 or 44's but egotism prevented it.

So I'm fairly happy with that.  Keep at it, I guess and maybe in another eight or ten months I'll be in 36's, which I haven't seen since the 1990's.

There's no "If" about it.  Every time I enter a room, Tarantella plays.  At least in my head.

Yep Jerrybass.  I think you helped too.

I've found this site to be invaluable for finding all those country songs I grew up hearing.  I think it was Deadstring who first brought it to my attention.

I was scared that day, and for a while afterward.

I know that since then, I have been less career focused, and more focused on doing things that are meaningful in a personal sense (either to me or for people who matter to me).  Further, I spent some time learning about Islam.  I do not adhere to that faith, but I cannot square what those men did with what Islam seems to stand for.  What changes has it made for you?

Sorry Rick, I'm not familiar with that particular model.

Cool.  It's important to encourage one another.  There's always someone better than you and there's always someone that you can encourage.  You found someone to encourage and you did it.  That's great.  I'm glad your guitar is OK.

Haberdashery is critical to guitar performance.

And to get us back on topic - this morning has involved work on "Country Roads" by James Taylor.  It needs work.

The B chord is evil.  Yet, to become a guitar mutant it is necessary.  Russell Harding, a guitar mutant if there ever was one, wrote a song that I absolutely love: "A Few To Many".  The bridge in "A Few To Many" contains a B chord in a strategic location.  Being a mutant, Russell does that sort of thing to make us non-mutants weep and gnash our teeth.  You know, because the B chord is evil, Biblical descriptions of Hell apply.   So anyway, I practiced and practiced and practiced and still could not get that B chord in the bridge.  But B7, piece of cake.  So I recorded my version of "A Few To Many", which I do in a Travis picking sort of style (except without the finesse, quality or skill Merle brought to his namesake style).  In a fit of hubris and arrogance, I sent the recording to Russell along with a first class rant against the evil B chord.  As the benevolent King of the Mutants, Russell granted me B chord amnesty, permitting me to perform "A Few To Many" with the B7 substitution.  But for justice to be served, no kindness can be extended without an accompanying dose of humility, Russell then wrote and recorded "Zurf and The Evil B", which is a song played entirely using B chord shapes.  I listened.  I laughed.  And then I proceeded with great happiness for the rest of the evening alone but for my guitar and my B chord amnesty.

Pix - Take it easy and keep a close eye out for infection.  Cuts from exposed metal can get nasty fast.  Don't take any chances.  I hope you heal up quick.

Wreck of the Old 97 again.  Still working on that presentation.  Now I've decided to keep going faster and faster until my fingers "wreck".  I'm not sure that intentionally making mistakes is good stage presence, but it's what I'm going to try.
