when i began writing this song it had nothing to do with sex change, but as it progressed i could see the way it was going, so i went with it. there is a reference to the kinks "Lola" but that song was about cross dressing not going the "full hog"

Blind Circle.Undefined

[G] I don't believe you can [Bm] cry.

[Em] I've never seen a single tear in your eye.

[G] I don't believe you feel [Bm] love.

[Em] It's just a another little step in your life.

(BRIDGE)

And I [Am] don't believe you can, [D] live like a woman.

[Em] Giving and taking your [C] time.

[Am] I, don't believe you'd be [D] happy

As something that, [Em] you know and I knows a [C] lie.

(CHORUS)

[Dm] One night stands [C] don't [G] work.

[Dm] One night stands [C] just [G] hurt.

[Dm] One night you'll find that you're [F] locked in blind circle.

[G] Running around and around and around and around and [Em] around.

[G] I don't believe you can [Bm] feel.

[Em] You don't know pain like the rest of us do.

[G] You'll go under the [Bm] knife.

[Em] You'll be different the rest of your life.

(REP BRIDGE & CHORUS)

[G] Today you're dressed as a [Bm] man.

[Em] Tonight in make-up and high heels and spandex.

[G] You walk the streets with-out [Bm] fear.

[Em] Still, everyone knows you're Lola “my dear .

(SOLO OVER VERSE & BRIDGE) >(CHORUS)

||:[G] I only know what I [Bm] know.

[Em] And what I know is you've still far to go:||

hi killian,

i like the flow of your "song" and i bet putting a melody line in there with a good chord backing would make this into a fine pop/rock song.

one of the things we do here is to put a tune to peoples words, so if that is what you were hoping for you must tell us, then someone will give it a go for you. your song will then be returned to "songwriting" forum.

thanks ark and floranicolas, i suppose these days it's all about people slapping themselves on the back for doing something they get well paid for. like those bankers, they lost billions yet they award themselves huge bonuses! what's that about?

though having said that, i watched a re-run of the UK rock awards yesterday and enjoyed that. jeff beck was amazing, but it does go to show that long guitar solo's are quickly becoming a thing of the past....even for virtuosos that can carry them off.

craig, i'm not sure if your just taking the pee here, so, a pedalboard is a set of FX pedals linked together and placed strategically on a board. something like a BOSS ME50, just that you can put whatever individual pedals you might prefer on it.

Having seen some of the footage of the Oscars over the last week-end, I awoke this morning with the first verse banging around my head. I've tried to reflect what I perceive as the false, shallow egotism involved in the movie industry

Stars of Night.              Phill Williams.

The stars of night have found their breath.
And walk in mortals realm.
With teeth that blind in flash of arc.
Their victims overwhelm.

Attire is worn as battle shields.
“ Don't bother me, but I am here.
They are beauty; “but don't come near.
The giant image fades.

The stars of night from distance come.
Obscure they will appear.
To sit and drink with those alike.
And feast on tables round.

Some are called and all applaud.
Unprepared, yet still they talk.
False joy as they have lost their cause.
The giant image fades.

O! darkest night, the feast all done.
The creatures home return as one.
The world about has witnessed all.
A new day slowly dawns.

Gowns are copied; leave the rails.
Some ignored, their fashion failed.
Some ridiculed, lack fineness.
The giant image fades.

Giant gods upon a screen.
Look down upon the mortal land.
Worship not the idol god.
Lest reality will kill your dream.

The stars of night burn brightly, short.
Their words are written, cheaply bought.
Their fame is fleeting, comes to nought.
As the giant image fades.

hi john, just because  blueridge has a good name doesn't mean that yours is the best representative of the make. i had a strat and played it for 30 + years cos i thought it was a good guitar. it sounded crap to me, and now it sits in my attic gathering dust. it put me off fenders for a long time. when the replacement got me down (a real cheapy) i tried lots of guitars, avoiding fenders at all costs. when nothing got the juices flowing, i told the shop guy to pass me the telecaster off the stand. i didn't need to play it, i knew i'd found my soul-mate. i bought it there and then and never looked back.

moral is; if your not happy with what you've got look for something you will be happy with.

PS. as an afterthought, you could take your guitar to your local music shop and ask for it to be set up proffessionaly if they have a guitar doctor. if they dont, check-out yellow pages.

you can certainly get a whole lot of bargains on line. the 2 things i'd never buy are food and guitars. i was chatting to a guy at my gig last night who thought he was bidding on a guitar in Birmingham England. what he's actually done was bid on a guitar in Birmingham Alabama....yes the postage cost more than the guitar, and i believe he said it was not good!
as my wife always points out....taste and try before you buy.

I've got lots of bits of paper on my desk with a couple of lines, and others with chord progressions on, it's all a case of matching them up. Worry not, you'll get there.

OMG! i just spent half an hour watching those vids. he can certainly make the guitar sing, and those fills???? and the best part is ...he thinks Clapton is brilliant!!! in a different way of course.

i shall go to bed happy, yet sad.

hi richie, welcome to chordie. i agree it's easiest to learn songs you know well rather than someone else's choice. only tip i can offer at this moment is; watch how other people play, and listen to the tones different fingerings can form. and of course...keep at it

well i'm learning new stuff all the time....i didn't know about the auto scroll or the CTRL +, now i know thanks

condolences on the loss of your friend, it's such a shame that as we get to a certain age more and more of the ones we've known and loved seem to hang up the guitar and take up the harp. he's obviously left you with some great memories, cherish them.

i'mwichoo all da way on dat one russel! LOL

as for electric guitar strings, i use fender 9's on my tele, but then i do a lot of bending while i'm playing. so if your just strumming or playing straight notes (a la hank marvin) i would suggest a heavier gauge like 10' or 11's.

to webmc, when tuning your guitar with new strings, tune up the D first, that way you wont over tune/stretch the E. and always use a tuner or pitch pipes so you dont over tune or put too much strain on the neck.

i used to play in a band with a guy who was challenged in a keeping the beat kinda way. and tone deaf to boot. but he could feel the vibrations through the stage so his timing was almost close!!!! the down side was that if he started a song off in the wrong key he wouldn't know about it till he got kicked! he got kicked quite a lot before he finally got kicked out of the band!

the moral is; if you get enjoyment from music, playing or listening, do it. not everybody is simon cowell so we wont judge you.

i've never dreamt i was someone else, but i did dream once i could play fabulous piano! i've dreamt many times of jumping from the top of the stairs in my grandmothers house, and just as i hit the floor i wake-up...
zurf you (used) to have the most wonderful dreams!

i was told by my mother i shouldn't eat cheese before going to bed as i'd have dreams! (i love cheese) so i eat loads before bed just to dream. it doesn't work by the way!

a metronome is essential for recording if you intend multi-tracking. i have done many recordings (covers and originals) with or without a click, it all depends on your internal clock. russ harding tells me he has perfect meter. having done several recordings with him i can verify that. when i record i play guitar, drums, bass and keyboards, so most times i use the click. i find that i dont actually need to count if i have a beat to follow. and of course some songs sound so much more soul-full when you don't keep a strict time, eg; keep a note a half beat longer etc, so then you come back in a half beat later, (it makes a terrible mess of the metronome count though! )

it's funny you should mention that...i went out and bought 2 pairs of trousers, one from Asda and one from Tesco, now i've been wearing size 34 waist since i was 20 (honestly) but the Tesco one's were too tight yet the Asda one's fitted really comfortably. even though i still wear the same size trousers, round the waist, it seems my legs have grown, because 34 legs (which i've worn since i was 20...honestly) seem to be a lot shorter than they were. i wonder if it has anything to do with my butt growing bigger?

i had a funny dream last night....elton john was standing in for roger hodgeson in supertramp live gigs??? i know i've been listening to supertramp live in paris lately, and i also have a recording (somewhere) of elton john singing with queen live in paris! maybe i've subconciously mixed the two up. silly realy as elton john could never hit the notes in dreamer.

anyone else had a weird and wonderful dream?

i only really listen to music in the car. so i decided (on a long journey) to listen to all my Beatles CD's. it was great hearing all those songs again in order. on another trip i thought i'd listen to all my Yes CD's. then my Jethro Tull one's etc etc. how can anyone listen to just one band/singer for the rest of their life...unless they only had an hour left to live....

just a thought. i know the i-pad is great, just wondering how it would cope memory wise as multi track recording can eat up memory like no-one's business. give it a go though and let us know how you get on. i've seen several solo acts using them on stage as backing, but they had the bigger memory.

got to agree, i bought my crafter semi-acoustic 3-4 years ago, i walked into a guitar shop just to pass the time saw the crafter sat and strummed for a couple of minutes when my mobile started ringing. it was the wife. i'd been there over an hour! i also have a fender acoustic (f90 i think) and a 12 string. both sound good, but the crafter is the one i pick-up to practise and record on.

i've also tried ashton guitar strings. sound great new but they fade pretty quick. by bass still sounds good with them though.
