Muffin the mule lol no Roger it never made it but there was one show I remember it was called "queen for a day" talk about sad these women would come on before a live audience and tell there stories of how miserable there lives were and the one with the most pitiful life was made "queen for a day" and given a washing machine or some jewelry and the other non queens went home and lamented because they were not miserable enough that was early TV at its worst smile

Our family's first TV arrived on my fifth birthday amid great excitement. It had just one channel - BBC. The earliest programme that I can remember, and a great favourite of mine, was Muffin the Mule, a string puppet. I doubt that it made it across the pond though.

It's funny, I've been playing guitar now for 30 years and just learned by ear. Somewhere along the way I found that I could almost ~see~ (for lack of a better word) the intervals that make up chords when I hear them, and it was very easy for me to learn to play anything I heard.

I went on to have a decent career as a profession musician before I settled down to get a "real job" (as my now-ex-wife so nicely put it). After all that, several years ago I decided to go take lessons so I could learn theory, scales, chord construction, etc.

OK... I felt like an idiot! How can I play and instrument for so many years, and yet have such a hard time grasping the theory behind it?

Being a programmer and a bit of a geek, I sometimes find it easier to learn something when I am teaching it to someone. So I started this giant Excel sheet and plotted out how the chords were made, that's when things started to click into place for me.

I can remember at school during science class the teacher took a board about 1 inch thick and the size of a text book and drove two nails into it and bent the tips in toward each other and placed a hot dog in between he then hooked up a electric chord striped both ends and attached them to the opposite posts and plugged it in the wall!! that wiener cooked in less then 10 seconds but it was a controlled demonstration and I would not recommend it without proper safety equipment smile

That was sad really sad if he were in the ring with another person with his disability I would not want to see it, no disrespect intended but we all have limitations and its not enough to want something this was like a Monty Python skit from the Forrest scene

BrancoJ it would take me some time to memorize this new system of yours and I dont know if it would benefit my playing to account for the time spent learning,I'm sure it works well if you understand it but it seems like you enjoy doing this kind of mathematical exercise and it may well benefit others but I'm still working with standard notation and its enough to handle but good luck with this smile

we used to make our own presents and my mom was great at designing Christmas cards,we would make pop corn and string it for the tree I remember having some thread caught in my throat one Christmas, where I lived we had chestnut trees on both sides of the street and we would roast them and sometimes make necklaces and wrist bands with them I think we had the only flat roof house in the neighborhood and the rag man used to collect junk in a horse drawn cart I can still remember the chant he used to call "aaaaaraagggs got da raaaagggs"we came from a poor part of town but all the neighbors were very friendly, its all gone now it was torn down for a housing development that is condemned now they should have left it alone it would most likely still be there smile

its like apples and oranges I have owned a Les Paul and I currently play a strat, the Les Paul single cutaway was great for a deep heavy sound but I find the strat is more versatile and playes easier up the frets

true story when I was a kid we had the family cat and it was always jumping up on the mantle this was not unusual in itself but on the mantle were a lot of delicate pieces of porcelain and pictures with glass frames and it would always land on the only spot between and not knock anything over till one day,it sized the distance up and leaped with conviction and missed! and fell on the floor feet down and shrugged itself and looked around as if to say "I meant to do that" lol

Zurf "making it up" is kind of like playing a bad note in a solo if you repeat the note people will think you intended to play it that way (some of them) lol
