Jerome,
If you have been a very bad boy you have to write a song for Old Doll. I know, been there, worn the T shirt!!
Roger
I do not know if I dare admit this but what the heck, "Home On The Range".
In my own defence though it was the first song in the song book that came with my Elvis Presley, 4 string, plastic guitar that had an 'Autochord' (a plastic box that strapped on the fingerboard) with buttons to press to play the chords. It was also the fist one I played properly when the autochord broke.

How about Peter, Paul and Mary who have been together since 1961 or are they discounted as they never had a regular bass and drummer.
Just a thought,
Roger
Upon opening a new pack of D'Addario strings I saw an advert for 'The Ultimate Cutting Tuner' the web site link is:

The design seems great to me and I am considering changing to them. I am intersted if anyone has has any experience or comments on them please.
Thank you,
Roger
Hello John,
Wecome to Chordie. I hope you will learn, pass your knowledge on to other and have a good time here.
Take care,
Roger
Hi Jeremy,
I was about 17 when I joined my first group (band) and we had a guy (David Payne) who was probably the best drummer in the area. He would do a 10 to 15 minute drum solo at least twice during the evening which was great. It gave me time to get off the stage, find the prettiest girl in the room, and have a dance (jive in those days) and with luck arrange a date.
I have always appreciated a good drummer.
Welcome to Chordie,
Roger
Hi Phil,
My personal feeling is that the 'Chat Corner' is the ideal location for this type of discussion and I do not think that another new section is neccessary.
Others may disagree with me but ultimately the decision rests with OBL Pere.
Roger
Hello Beniteau,
Welcome to Chordie but I am sorry to inform you that Chordie hosts no songs other than the original ones wriitten by our Members in the Songwriting section. There are various legal reasons for this and Chordie is a search engine to find songs that are already on the Internet.
However if you look in the resources section and questions and answers you will find further information on how to upload songs elswhere and get them recognised and shown in the Chordie index.
By the way songs are normally posted in the Chopro format and information on using it is in James McCormick's 'sticky' at the start of the Songwriting section.
Roger
Oops James,
Looks like you are going to be baking for the next few weeks, there are only 115,000 members to make snacks for. ![]()
Roger
Hello Cindy,
Welcome to Chordie and you are allowed to print songs from here. There is a print icon halfway down the right hand side of the page and clicking on that should do the trick. If you are still having difficulty please write again with an explanation of what is happening.
Take care,
Roger
I agree that these postings are dreadful and I spend as much time as I can monitoring the site for these attacks and getting rid of their filth, but as James has said we cannot monitor Chordie 24 hours a day but we do what we can.
From a purely personal point of view I have to say that I have probably read every posting written by Cytania and Nadine2 and they have always been knowedgable, informative and interesting I would be very sorry indeed to see either of you leave the Forum.

A couple of years ago, well maybe 50 years ago, when I was a boy soprano I was to sing a solo at the school concert.
The rehersals all went very well and the big day came I was in the middle of the school choir singing my socks off and then came time for my solo. Everyone stood aside and the spotlights came on me. Suddenly I was terrified, my mouth went dry, my heart went into overdrive and I was shaking like a leaf. I wanted the ground to open up and swallow me.
I thought then that I must not let Mrs Bell (my music teacher) or my parents down and that I would look a bigger fool if I did not do it than if I did it badly so I went for it. I made it though and although everyone said it was great it destroyed my self confidence and it was years before I was able to perform in public again.
Roger
Another way is to use any song you know that has it's natural minor chord in and transpse to the key of F. Then a C Am F G or a G Em C D progression would become F Dm B C.

OK I'll spill the beans. I cheated. ![]()

OK I admit it. I too have a song I play very often but NEVER in front of anyone else, in fact I was playing it earlier today before I read this thread.
"The Cruel War", a 60's Peter Paul and Mary number. A beautiful song but it is a ladies song where she is asking to go to war with her man. So now you see why. I have even tried to re write it from the male perspective, but failed.
It is in my Songbook if you do not know it and is a one great to finger pick.
Roger
I think it was Deirdre Cartwright, but I may well be wrong.
Roger
Helo Markdrago,
Welcome to Chordie.
Probably the easiest thing to do is to go to the Public Songbooks and look under Absolute Beginners there are 60 books of songs there to choose from. I am sure there will be something there that you both know and like.
Roger
Hello Corey and welcome to Chordie.
The 'o' means you play the string open and the 'x' means that you do not play it at all.
Hope that helps.
Take care,
Roger
Mherbert and I had a similar idea but mine took a little longer to prepare.
For you Old Doll: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SYB75tMBOuY

Hi Ark,
As Dreamer said this is a beautiful song. I particularly like the G, Asus4, A, D sequence in the last line.
Thank you for sharing,
Roger
Hello Nadine,
I spend a lot of time in the Songwriting section as I find it rather exciting. Words and chords to a song you have never heard before and you can put you own 'stamp'on it.
The tempo, style of play and melody are what YOU choose it to be. Your version may be completely different you how the composer envisioned it but that is fine. I think playing these songs actually helps develop your own ability and who knows, a single phrase or chord sequence may even encourage you to write your own song.
By the way my version of "With You" is no longer on MySpace but e-mail me if you want me to send you a copy of it.
Take care,
Roger
Hi Jeff,
I must be going through a 'rock' phase at the moment as that is how I played this. Quite fast, heavy and with muting to emphasise the beat. A happy song that I enjoyed playing.
Thank you,
Roger
You are twice blessed. A thoughful, caring wife and super new guitar.
Belated Happy Birthday,
Roger
