I think guitar solos were already present and popular before the beatles or the rolling stones, the early rock and roll songs featured the likes of Chuck Berry.James Burton( Ricky Nelsons lead player and Elvis) Bo Diddly, Duane Eddy and lets not forget Les Paul and altho he wasn't a rock and roller his guitar playing was unequaled in the mid and late fifties, and there was Bill Haley and the Comets guitar solo on the hit "Rock around the Clock" but guitar solos changed with the popularity of drugs and other mind altering agents on musicians and exacted a toll, disco came and went, and music keeps changing with each generation but like the old styles of clothes it recycles and regains popularity again smile

Some interesting thoughts on this maybe we all could narrow it down to a list of things we each try out in order to locate the answer to these requests, I usually type in the google search bar just an abreviated form like song name + lyrics+ artist for the just the lyrics, and song+ song name+chords or tabs for just the chords and I usually have good results anyone else have some shortcuts to share? smile

Hi Jeff, very nice flowing lyrics with sincerity im not sure if you have recorded it yet if feels like a fingerpicked song with flowing melodic lines to augment these fine lyrics and I wish you a good year for 2009 and health to your daughter and her expectant child smile

The one thing Ive noticed is I have spent time googling song requests and provided links to pages where lyrics and chords could be obtained, sometimes it takes a little time to locate these and after I do and copy and paste the link for the person requesting a lot of times they dont even say thanks for the effort, and I'm not alone on this i'm sure, maybe a little reminder to those asking for assistance to a least acknowledge the person who helped them might improve the responses to these requests, a little courtesy go's a long way smile

Good choices Roger,I think there will be enough room for quite a few songs from members Im lookin for around 25 or more, possibly as a 2 CD set so I will post a special list and make it a sticky to add to starting with the suggestions recieved so far, the topic will be named simply "SONGS FOR CHORDIE CD" and it can be modified as we go smile

Roger Guppy wrote:

Any of my songs are available for this project.

Perhaps "Wrapped in Happiness" which involves more Chordians than any other song (until someone takes the challenge and exceeds it) might be considered. I particularly like Helena's 'Cracker and the Ring' which involves four of us too.

Ark all of these are great and I agree James and Roger also have some worthy songs that could be contributed, its hard for me to select one of my own, hopefully one will be suggested and relieve me of this choice but I do like Meshack the instrumental song thats on myspace now, I redesigned my profile page and reloaded 6 songs but the profile design is only temporary I am planning to change it in a day or so smile

There are several possibilities to consider as the source of this noise, first your preamp is faulty, second the guitar has some internal problems(wires, soddered connections, bad pots ect...) third the chord leading from your guitar to the preamp, or the chord leading from the preamp to your computer, any one of these could be the culprit. I would systematically eliminate each possibility and start with another guitar and both chords leading to and from your preamp if it still makes noise its your preamp,as I explained earlier you CAN bypass this preamp with an adapter, download the video from my mediafire Audacity series(number 4) it shows you what you will need and how to hook it up, the total cost will be around $4.00 to fix this problem give it a shot first you may not have to look farther to take care of this problem smile

"The longest standing member" well this could be interpreted several ways lol if your referring to longevity I would have to cast my vote for ken, if on the other hand your reference is to who would be standing last at a party at the end of the night that would be open for debate lol perhaps some day we may all be all together in the same place to test this hypothesis lol

wow Jerome I clicked on the link and the first part is a E with a altertaning B and E note the guitar is playing an open D formation on the 4th fret it slides a have fret down to a Eb the chorus "kites are fun" is a F#m7 to a C#7 I really think the song is in A but I could be wrong lol

jerome.oneil wrote:

Transcription becomes pretty easy once you know the key of the original song.   That one appears to be in E, so you should expect to play lots of A's and B's.
