Re: String spacing on 12-string (17 replies, posted in Acoustic)
I just bought myself a 12-string. Nothing expensive but good value for money from all the reviews I've read.
http://www.waldenguitars.com/D552.html
I was wondering if anyone can tell me what the "ideal" spacing is between the two strings in each pair. I know they need to be close together but not so close as they cause a buzz.
Do any of you have any experience of the relative advantages/disadvantages of changing the spacing at the bridge?
Should the pair spacing at the bridge be the same as at the nut?Has anyone here ever tried unusual tunings? I mean where you tune a pair to an interval other than an octave or unison?
All help and suggestions thankfully received.
Hey Stonebridge,
I didn't see a price on that 12 string. Do you know what you payed in U.S. Dollars? As for tuning, I heard Leadbelly use to tune his to drop C because the necks back in those days couldn't handle the tension of standard tuning.

Hey there.
I use to roll pizza's with a rolling pin for 8 hours a day. Good pizza, crappy work. Now I wake up and I have pains shooting down my from my elbow going into my wrist. The only things I've found that works is Ibuprofen and Tiger Balm. Stinks, but it relives the pain for a little bit. Just my two sense

Thanks for listening, guys. I think as far as my songs goes, its one I put more thought into. I did a lot of research on the USS Broome and the different battles my grandpa fought in Korea. My one grandpa who's still alive doesn't really talk about his war experience, understandably. Again thanks for listening. I'm trying to get better at the harp. ![]()

Re: PRISON (20 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
There is a difference indeed.
We (BELGIUM) DON'T HAVE THSE CATEGORIES.
I believe that once you have been in jail you must be very strong to get on with your life.
It isn't easy to judge people, and also: IS IT TRUE THAT EVEN A LITTLE CRIME STAYS IN THE RECORDS FOR GOOD? Or does it dissapear after 10 years? = once a "crook always a crook"
here in the states if your a kid, the crime is suppose to be taken off when you turn 18. unless you commit a crime in Texas, that seems to stay with you forever. I dont believe that once your a crook your always a crook, though it is hard to change. It took me many a mess up to turn it around. It does seem that once your in the system your in for life, even if you turn it around. But like others say if you cant do the time, dont do the crime. Wish I had learned that when I was younger

Literally brought tears to my eyes. Makes the song mean so much more. The only thing I could say is if you had more pics of him instead of just the one, and I mean no disrespect with that.

Re: Is knowing music theory important?? (25 replies, posted in Music theory)
i have been playing about 6 months and know my chords and can read tab but thats it
i dont think theory is that important, guitar is about soul, not knowing hundreds of ways to play a G
i have never bothered with theory and i doubt i ever will because i just dont think i need to, as long as i can play with feeling then i will be happy
At one point megs I'd agree with you, I had no desire to learn music theory. Didnt think I needed it. They offered it at the school I went to and I thought the same as you, it comes from the heart and soul. But now I know 15 yr olds who learned theory and play with more soul then anyone I know. Just my opinion

I keep receiving emails from admin that so and so has replied to a topic Ive responded to. Is this a new feature? If so is there some way to turn it off? I use to go to a site that did that and I'd get tons of unwanted email every day.
Respectfully,

He was an innovator. at his time no one was playing guitar like him. He spawned a bunch of wanna be's. for his style I cant think of anybody better

An instrument would at least allow you to keep your sanity, maybe.
yes it would, if they had that outlet I feel there would be alot less problems, though I understand the security risk behind it. Prisoners can make weapons out of anything

Re: Really Cool Surfing footage! (14 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
Hi to all the guys and gals who surf. I started in 1965 and have just spent a week in Jeffrey's Bay [at age 62], we had 3 days of 1-2 foot, then 6 ft, then 6-10 ft, unfortunately the wind swung so the big surf was not too good, also, at this age trying to paddle for your life thru' 8ft of white water is not exactly fun. My one bud Chris owns a house at J-Bay and is 57 years young, Seamus is 69 years and had a hip replacement job done a few years ago. so it just goes to show, you are never too old to have fun, and survive. We also spent 2 weeks there in March and had non stop surf between 3 and 8 foot, as well as many fires, beers and stringalongs and singalongs. lol. Hang ten
Im so jealous!

Re: PRISON (20 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
Depends on the state and prison. Here in New Mexico you cant. Its considered a privilege, not a right. I think it would be great if they let them play instruments

Id say nothing below the knees or more then 3inches above them. Remember when "sagging" was cool? If you did that when I was in jail it meant you where selling something.
