Thanks to all for your kind comments,

Noel, if you can think of a word that sits right and rhymes with night let me know and I'll change it.

it actually refers to the singing that goes on when Welshmen have had a good night, and some fine ale, the word we use is "joyo", I don't think I need to translate that one?

THERES A RIFF THAT RUNS THROUGH THE SONG THAT SOUNDS LIKE A C/W BASS LINE; F TO C6 [add f] THERES PROBABLY A NAME FOR THE CHORD, BUT I DONT KNOW WHAT IT IS. OH AND USE A CAPO ON THE 6th FRET ... PLAYS EASIER

Pieces of DriftwoodUndefined

[riff]PIECES OF DRIFTWOOD THAT WASH UP ON THE SHORE

A PIECE OF LIFE THAT NOW IS GONE, LIFE THAT IS NO MORE

[Bb] CAN YOU [f] HEAR THE [Gm] GHOSTS OF [F] WHEELS THAT [Bb] ONCE ROLLED [F] THROUGH THE [C] TOWN

[riff] AND VOICES SINGING IN THE CHURCH, AND MEN FROM UNDERGROUND

[Bb] OH [F] OH Gm] OH [F] OH [Bb] OH [F] OH [Gm]OH

(REPEAT THE ABOVE CHORDS ON THE NEXT 2 VERSES)

PIECES OF DRIFTWOOD FLOATING WHERE A TOWN ONCE STOOD

SOMETIMES THE CHURCH BELL RINGS IN IT'S GHOSTLY NEIGHBOURHOOD

CAN YOU SEE THE TAVERN DOOR SWING, WHEN IT'S CLOSING TIME?

THE VOICES SINGING IN THE DARK ON THEIR WAY HOME UNDER BRINE

OH OH OH OH OH OH OH...

PIECES OF DRIFTWOOD STANDING ON A MANTLE SHELF

CARVED DOWN AND POLISHED UP AND MADE TO LOOK IT'S BEST

THERE WAS ONCE A HAPPY CHILD PLAYING IN HIS YARD

NOW THERE'S ONLY FISHES THERE, SALMON AND SOME CARP

OH OH OH OH OH OH OH

LOOK OUT ON THE LAKE TO SEE THAT THERE'S NOTHING THERE

OH OH OH OH OH OH OH...

LOOK OUT ON THE LAKE TO SEE THAT THERE'S NOTHING THERE.

I WROTE THIS IN "F" AS THAT WAS WHERE THE CAPO WAS WHEN I GOT THE IDEA

THIS IS A STORY OF THE WELSH VALLEYS THAT WERE FLOODED IN ORDER THAT LIVERPOOL MANCHESTER,LONDON ETC. COULD HAVE WATER

IT'S NOT A BITTER SONG, BUT I FEEL IT'S WORTH REMEMBERING THE SACRIFICE THESE PEOPLE MADE.

I love it.

I think life is a long journey that we should keep on until we find what we are looking for, for you and for me my friend, it was finding that one special woman, and for them it was finding us, but none the less, life is not over just because we have found our soul mates, the journey is a long adventure, and as when your driving, don't go to sleep or you might leave the road. Which means; don't let the love/romance sit on the back boiler.

I usually write my love songs about my wife too, in fact she pops up in most of my songs somewhere.

keep strummin' my friend

Hi Slaya,

I seem to be talking to you a lot tonight!

I get the feeling that this maybe heavy rock? I love rock my self, but I try and stay away from the darker side.

Your words are very interesting, and I can see that behind the words you have a more involved story, am I right?

You say that the song is not finished yet, so try and bring out that story line and give us a hint of how you visualise the backing, [pop, country or rock]

Keep Rocking my friend

I woke up this morning, it was cold damp and windy [and that was just the wife...joke?] so something made me remember this little poem[?] I wrote last year...hope you like it.

Early on a winters morn
And the moon's already gone
There's a crispness in the air
And there's ice upon the pond

At 6 o'clock the day begins
For some it's time to sleep
But far away, away in the east
Dawn light begins to break

A robin starts his chirping
Begins the chorus of the dawn
The post man turns his collar up
To cross the frosty lawn

And the grass beneath his feet will crunch
Like cornflakes in his mouth
He longs to feel the heat that comes
With summers warming month

And now as skies are lightening
And the mill of life returns
And traffic belching carbon fumes
Eyes water, chest burn

But this is how we live today
And for one hundred years
Will crispy winter mornings wake us
As we make our way to work.

HI DADDY,

I LOVE OBSERVATION SONGS, SO WELL OBSERVED YOUNG MAN!

ONLY ONLY ONE THING THOUGH...THE CHORUS AFTER THE SECOND VERSE, SEEING AS IT'S A BIT SAD...MAYBE IT SHOULD READ "OH HOW SAD THEY MUST BE..." SEEING AS THEY GET DEAD?
ONLY A THOUGHT, I DONT WANT TO STICK MY NOSE IN WHERE IT'S NOT REQUIRED [AND YOU SHOULD SEE MY NOSE MATE, OR MAYBE NOT!!!] lol
ANY WAY GREAT LITTLE DITTY
KEEP ROCKIN'

hi daddy,
yes it definitely puts a different spin on it, but i've had a chance to work on the song now, changed the title to THE ROAD TO PARADISE, and a few lines etc, and i've got it starting in Gm-Dm- Eb- Cm, i use a capo of course, i've just finnished recording it, if only i could get it onto my space. i will post the final version when i've got a minute, hope you'll look at it again and tell me what you think?
