Thank you Roger for the nice words, I can only say lots of practice and the blessings from above and at this point in the recording project at traxx the owner has taken on the resposibility of providing the backup help and publishing of my composistions. In the control room the owner the recording engineer and myself collaborate before, durring and after each take and assess the results and if corrections are needed I redo them by punching in just before the section that needs correction and I hope there is a lady singer comming some of the harmonies are wearing my voice out with the repeated recording over but thats the only way to get it right and thanks again for the comments

It is a pleasure to watch your fingers flow over the fretboard so effortlessly, but what has happened to the beautiful lady backing singer?? She too would be a pleasure to watch

Hi weedjie I cant understand why the audacity program will not run properly on your vista program as I have it running on mine, it sounds like the problems with synchronization may be caused by a delay in the time you hear it and lay the track this could occur if you dont use a headset for both tracks I dont have the reaper program on my vista but fatstrings and riddler do and are both up to date on reaper so hang in a bit and your question will be answered shortly
weedjie wrote:Hi guys i am using reaper as my recoring software ,
i lay down the guitar piece
then record singing over it
when i play it back its out of sync
is there a standard amount (rule of thumb) of the timeline bar i delete to sync with the guitar piece already recorded.
i have also trien audacity but i cant run it properly on vista
thanx in advance!!
Walk my apologies, when you first posted this in the recording forum I visited the link page and was under the impression Amplitube was an effects unit for guitar so I moved it out of the recording section into this forum, after reading the additional posts I realized my mistake and I will request help in moving it back to where you first posted it as I am unable to shift topics in other forums but my own. again sorry for the mistake.Russell
walklikeamelon wrote:hey fatstrings.. no problem. Ik finally announced their new release and it wasnt AmpliTube but what is called T-racks. Their mastering plugin, which is kinda cool. I dont do any 'pro' mixing so its no biggie right now, but ya.. there is so much software out there now its crazy. Plugins like Amplitube give just about anyone the chance to make some solid recordings at home, with minimal cost. Tis no better time than now to be recording.... minus the economy of course, but thats a whole 'nother thread!
Is it safe to assume, your a bass player... fatstrings??

Hey Doug how ya doing? did you get all your belongings over to your new crib yet? I'll bet you and the misses cant wait to get settled so things can get back to normal,to answer your question there is very little left for me to do on the song nothing I cant finish in one hour, the drummer already has a copy and he's a studio musician so he shouldn't have any problems with it.Recording in a studio is a lot differen't then at home the slightest error is noticed and must be redone and punching in saves time and money for me,quite frankly I cant wait to get started on the next song when you get your place set we can google chat so till later thanks for the comment russell
Roger asked me why Roy Orbison and I really dont know why I included it, must have crossed my synapses somewhere up stairs but he sort of reminds me of Orbison so I guess thats why
fatstrings wrote:"A hoard of Roy Orbison fan club members",,,,,,I bout fell out of my chair laughing
Thanks Ark but that was only a practice run,the final solo is on my copy of the wav cd they burrned for me,we were just checking audio levels on that video the final cut is better but I am returnning on the 25th to cut another and compair the two to see which is better and the drummer will lay the rhythm track and there will be a lady singing some backup parts and then comes the mastering and it starts all over with the next song (hint) its the song you arranged for the challange, I am sticking with the original chord structure and by the end of next week I should have some workable lyrics thanks again for your kind comment russ

Thanks for the comment,it took a little time to get it all together but it was fun doing it.This edition of the dit dit dit dit was sort of planned to a point but after the Halloween slant I just spoke what was in my thoughts at the time, hense the disclaimer at the end of the vid I cant wait till next week to finish this song and move on to the next i'll let you know how it all turns out
The new chordie forum news is available the folder is titled "forum news and opinions" in addition I have added my opinion on Halloween and the commercialization of it also on the direction the music industry is moving, the content is only my opinion and I'm sure others will disagree but as I said its only my opinion.

) I was going to film it tonight but I watched the presidential debate and it made me tired so with tomorrow being the night for the session I changed the strings on the strat and waxed her up, I will do a brief rehearsal tomorrow afternoon and play along with the zip disk on my recorder so I can use the effects in the recording studio, tweak the sound and jot down the settings (in case I forget) then put the finishing touches on the dit dit dit dit, film it Friday and upload it. Other then that nothing new except I will be adding lyrics and recording the song from the video "the challenge" on the br-8 for the next session at traxx 52 "whats new with you?"
I uploaded two videos of the recording session one is "in the control room" this is a short video of all the equipment involved in my recording with my song playing in the background the second video is "in the studio" it is the actual real time recording of the guitar solo I was going to edit this because I had to scratch my nose but changed my mind and left it in so what the heck we all gotta scratch what itches once in a while,If you wish you may click the link at the bottom and download these videos I will be videotaping another installment of "Chordie Forum News" later and upload it to mediafire also
Pix it sounds like a good idea maybe the powers that be can look into the feasability of incorporating these features into chordie sure got my vote
Guitarpix wrote:Google talk and Yahoo messenger is what I'm talking about... An active link to those that you use. We have the info on our profile page and it shouldn't be that hard to put an active link with our posts. That way if someone wanted to contact a fellow member they could just hit the link and go straight to it instead of having to look it up and do everything manually...
Phil nice sentimental and appropiate lyrics for the occasion I can echo your feelings as I was present in the delivery room and assisted when my two sons were born, congratulations and hope the mother and baby are doing fine
I like the idea, but untill then I use google talk its instant and free and I use tokbox for video chats maybe someday we can have these features on chordie you never know the nice thing about google talk is you can transfer mp3's or videos and other documents from your desktop to anyone in your network it saves time going online and entering passwords or picking up cookies or viruses, if google ever comes out with video chat I'll bet it will be superior to most other sites but till then tokbox will have to suffice
A lot was accomplished in the studio today I re-did the vocals and a lead solo track I have to return on the 25th to to add another lead track and the drummer will have his drum set already setup and mic'ed because he is doing another session earlier in the afternoon I am already looking forward to the next song but even after this one is finished it will still have to be mastered and I received some good news, the owner intends to publish all my songs so each song is important and I can understand how important it is getting each song flawless ,more on this project later
If you wanted an opinion on the song and the music in general you might consider posting it in the songwriting forum this is the recording forum and most of the comments will be on the recording not the song
06sc500 wrote:Hey everyone thanks for commenting, I know that the recording itself wasn't very good, but I more or less wanted to get opinions on the song and music in general. Words on a page don't mean much until you hear them sung or spoken.
I have owned both I have the hendrix pedal that has a input for a 9 volt adapter it is the better of the two in my opinion and sounds really nice with some overdrive or sustain mixed with a little delay
brokenarrow5 wrote:the hendrix pedal is really good------ there are 2 of them -- one is good and one isnt as good
Pix I think we have had the online notice for some time and your just noticing it
Guitarpix wrote:I just noticed that we can now see all forum members online status! I really like it! I requested this feature a few months back but the topic kinda faded away... It's good to see it up and running! Have we had it for awhile now and I'm just noticing it or is this new? Thanks! -Pix
I recieved a request to approve Jamie WIllard as a friend it came with a note from Jamie that said "sorry to keep bugging you but could you please listen to my music" i cant recall ever getting a request to accept Jamie as a friend but with my computer problems it could have been lost it the shuffle. I listened to his myspace songs and the only thing I can say is he is one great musician period,if you have some time give a listen to this very talented guitarist

Hi Stephen I did notice when you first posted but withheld any comment to let other members voice there opinions first, I agreed with both assessments but I didnt want to dampen your enthusiasm by being to critical. Recording a song and making it sound good takes a little time if your doing it without any prior know how and to your credit you have done well in getting this far along with the audacity program and in having the courage to place it for all to hear and critique on myspace and in this recording forum that takes guts,I suggested in your first post to make individual mp3's of each track so more experienced members with recording knowldege could adjust your tracks and inform you what adjustments they made so you could learn and be able to do it for yourself as this would save a lot of time in the learning curve for you, but this decision rest with you but if you decide not to opt for that by all means keep recording and experimenting over time you will aquire this knowledge and your songs will sound better and better. As to my assessment in addition to the above opinions the panning of tracks is non exsistant you have to place each track in a separate location to not only give it a distinct place but to avoid distortion and a mumbled sound, when you make these adjustments I will listen to your song again and give you my honest opinion, I can not do otherwise without compromising my judgments and I hope you understand these reasons.

Hi Stephen ,
its a good idea to put your url alongside your new recordings. Its easier to go directly to your site.
Ive listened . Your doing good. Personally i didnt like the heavy intro but thats just me. You Son, always go with what you feel is right.
Old Doll.
Yeah, I kinda came up with that seperately, and I figured I would try it out, and I think it's better to just do the acoustic strumming in the intro. Oh well, live and learn.
Happy Birthday
very soon I am just putting the finishing touches on the narative (it aint easy writing this stuff

well happy birthday kenny since this is the 14th when im posting and many more to come, keep on truckin
Stephen had a listen to your song, your voice is fine the guitar work is ok to but the mix needs to be improved by tweeking the eq's there should be a distinct difference between your voice and the guitar and the ryhthm as a suggestion get a mediafire account (its free) and upload a separate track for each of the tracks and label them as vocal, guitar, djembe just export each track from audacity as a mp3 that way riddler Roger or me or anyone can remix and adjust the eq's and pan the tracks also if you visit my website and click on the coolchasers link you can pick your own profile design for free and they will install it all you need to give them is your myspace login and password if you need help with that let me know I will be glad to walk you through it.Over all as a first effort it is a good job so keep on going and if you need any help just ask russell
