Dino music and politics have been around along time and there is no rule with regards to political subjects in a free democracy and if we limit ourselves to music subjects we would have to write songs about scales and where would we be if Bob Dylan had not written "Blowing in the wind" music is the most powerful tool for getting the truth out there is and I hope censorship will never rear its ugly head and restrict free thought, political or otherwise.

Hi guys ,I just read all the above posts,I have my own political feelings as well as other members here, I am almost sure one of our rules was not too get on political subjects here. If I am wrong correct me,I think we are here mainly for music  subjects. If we bring politics here we will not be doing our site any good.                   dino

Randy I'm looking forward to hearing what you come up with and I hope more members take the challenge up,when I first proposed this idea I just wanted to get some of the members who have written lyrics but can not compose music and there are those who compose music but are unable to write lyrics for there songs and I thought it would be a chance for them to reach out and seek each other  to work with on this project with them and it couldn't help but improve there skills. so good luck with it smile

The recording date is set for September 4Th at 7pm and I will bring only my acoustic and mandolin (plus my video equipment) they have several synthethizers in the studio that im free to use for adding strings or woodwinds tracks I will get there much earlier to setup and video tape the control room and interview the engineers smile

Roger the chord groups and length or duration of the chords within each group can be modified with regards to tempo to fit the lyrics you choose but each chord group must be present in the arrangement without adding any new chords unless they are passing chords like a F# to Em from G or a D/F# to G and in the A chord I play the E string is muted for effect but you can include the E string as it is just an extension of the A (the 5Th) but basically each chord group must be present and where you put them is up to you, this will make for diversity in arrangments smile

lol its getting to be that way, I think our national drink depends on what area of the country you live in. In some parts of the country like the Midwest beer is the beverage of choice and a lot of country songs were composed for this reason "There's a tear in my beer"(Hank williams jr.) originally recorded by his father I had some "cawl" last night it came out of a can of Dinty Moore (I never suspected it was an import from wales lol ) the brains beer sounds not to appealing but after a few your ready for some cawl or a trip to the bathroom lol

Phill Williams wrote:

hi Russel,

whiskey is the domain of the Irish [as in Helena] and tea English as in daddy cool] we Welsh are known for "cawl" which is a kind of thick stew with potatoes meat and vegetables.

as a drink we might also partake of the odd glass of tea or whiskey or vodka, but there is a local beer called brains beer [which is not made of brains at all...it just tastes like it!]

also as wales is quite a mountainous country, we have some of the worlds purest and sweetest natural water [which is why the English keep trying to flood the whole place sad ]

your national drink is tequila...right?

With Labor day in the states coming next Monday I will wait till after this holiday before this contest begins this will give everyone more time to find other members if they wish to pick up the gauntlet and the three top winners will be featured on friends of chordie on myspace so the kitty is sweetened a little more, I hope enough members will join in this "chordie family" project it will give us all a chance to get a little closer and have fun along the way smile

This is the challenge: I have uploaded a song to http://www.mediafire.com/russellharding
you must write the lyrics and your free to arrange it anyway you want all the chords are provided on the video clip when they occur or close to it and you may request help from any member for adding percussion, guitar, bass, keyboards or any instrument you wish. To keep this fair I will remain neutral as I will judge the results. This is open to all members including administrators, and there is a two week time limit to finish your project the top three winners to be determined by me will receive the rights to this song, and since there will be three different versions that win each one will be able to do what they wish with there results including copyright it,you will have to give it a title and if you copyright it you must include those who contributed along with you.the song is a wmv video file listed under "the challenge" so you will have no problem playing it on media player so good luck to everyone who takes up the "challenge" Russell smile

Randy I just got off the phone with him and we are setting a date tomorrow,I will be recording the song "Betrayal" and film the actual recording session and the mix down so I will be making several videos and joining them into one after I edit them, and I will get a copy of the song and we can compare it with what I did and see how much difference there is between my home studio and the best recording equipment on the planet (I'm sure there result will be superior to mine) and I intend to record all my new songs there for the next CD they also have a graphics department for cover designs, its a good thing he is a lifelong friend because my wallet ain't thick enough to handle his regular rates smile

Good-on-ye Russell,

I thought the "perks" were something like a jar of pickles and bottle of single malt..... I didn't recall reading anything about a Limo.
You didn't wangle some kind of special deal did ya?  If so, I need you to negotiate the salary and benefits package on my next job!

Looking forward to some great original music coming out of this forum, and hope this is a good alternative for all those folks looking for people to make music with.

Best of Luck to all, and Take Care;  Doug

Special thanks to the Chordie Administration for this new addition.
