Thanks Roger glad you enjoyed it. With the exception of the flute this was a live studio recording.John the bass player added the flute later .The whole thing was recorded on a  zoom 8 channel portable desk.

Sometimes it pays to check a place before you go there and find out if this is the right place for you.
A couple of months ago I played at what turned out to be the roughest bar in a town .I hadn't checked it out and was lucky to get out with my self and equipment intact.I got all the "play somthing we know" crap .Believe me it's not your fault if people are ignorant arseholes.
It's sad that this incident stopped you playing.I try to check a place now before I perform.
Get back on that horse and ride and as Kris Kristofferson says don't let the bastards get you down.

Scott it's very powerful ,but I would perhaps say there's too many tortured references.Unless you are planning to have the tortured bits as a second voice in the background  gradually building to a crescendo at the end. Then maybe leave them as is.

Looks awesome

OK  no smart arse replies on this I know I need my guitar.lol
What I wondered was when you do say an open Mic or solo gig what do you consider to be the essential  items to take.
My list is as follows.
Guitars
Cables
Tuner
Capo
Slide
Music stand.
Songs
Battery
Strings
Picks
Microphone
I consider this to be my minimum amount of kit ,what about the rest of you

Most incidents I've had have been quite amusing with no real aggression  unlike Saturday's gig.
One time that comes to mind was the French guy who tried to get on stage  with us, 4 times the bouncers  threw him out in total,. It was only when he leaped on stage knocking stef the bass player and rme back  into the drum kit that they got really tough with him and hurled him through the doors like a stunt man in a western movie.Elpida our backing singer picked a mic up and kept the song going throughout. We still laugh about this when we speak.

I thought I'd got past this. Last Saturday I was booked to play a town centre bar in a town where I've played many times before.Great I thought there will be plenty of people I have met before and friends from the area.Reality some friends turned up and we had a good warm audience for the first set.Sadly at 10 the bar round the corner  closed and the towns entire population of idiots walk in.The place changes from a quiet music appreciating bar to an animal house .There is aggression and negativity sure they still  want me to play but they want 60s sing along stuff I get pestered to play house of the rising sun by this woman for ages.So I finish early before it kicks off my wife grabs my guitars before some idiot trys to steal them We load the pa back into the truck I get paid and we leave. Not a great experience and certainly not the place to sing a set containing left wing political songs  defiantly not a place to go back to.

Last night I did a set at a local venue ,to see how my voice held up .Glad to say all went well and the audience loved the songs .All though it was only 15 mins  I was pleased my voice lasted . Time to get some propped gigs booked for  the new year.

Thanks  for  the  comments  guys .Phill  I  get your  point  however   I  think  most will  guess  which    politicians I'm aiming  at .The  good  ones  are  a  little  thin on the  ground  ,lol. Maybe a  song  praising  the  good  guys  might   be  worth  exploring .
