we have christmas in summer.Still it doesn`t stop us singing traditional winter classics.
But here`s my summer christmas song.

You'll be sending me hate-mail for even saying this, but for whatever reason I thought of Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas is You" when I read this.
So that would be my only suggestion: at all costs, avoid having it sound like Mariah's song. Her voice reminds me of someone taking a cheese grater to a piece of angle iron ... your song deserves better.
My voice can strip paint, eat ya heart out Mariah.

Had a quick strum last night, I'll have another go over the weekend and see what comes up.
Hey that would be fantastic Phill.

Re: Sharing Christmas With You (10 replies, posted in Songwriting)
EB I can imagine you doing a Nat King Cole song your voice will be perfect. I couldnt come up with chords just these hopefully funny Nat King Cole type lyrics.
Rambing Rose on a Reindeers Nose.
What I want for Christmas, heaven knows .
Wild wind-blowing, on the Reindeers nose .
Here in New Zealand it aint snowing heaven knows..
I love my family yes heaven knows.
Rambing Rose on a Reindeers Nose.
Now if that doesnt work how about a Rambing Crosby songI'm Dreaming Of A Hot Christmas.
With lots of Ram Bling for my Rose.
Hey Pete ,have you had a couple of christmas beers?

Re: Sharing Christmas With You (10 replies, posted in Songwriting)
easybeat some very nice words and ideas. Here are some ideas of chords:
G am G
am gm bm
am C E
bm am Crepeat as needed.
Thanks CS,i`ll have a crack at that.
Usually when a song comes to me the feel/chords come too, but not with this one.
In my head i hear this as a kinda Nat King Cole thing.

Hey guys i`ve got the words, any idea for chords that may work with this?
`Sharing Christmas With You`
I`m happy i`ll being seeing you at Christmas
So glad that i`ll be seeing you again
I know santa will leave you some thing
Wrapped up and left beneath my Christmas tree
Christmas day i`ll be cooking in the kitchen
All the traditional food
in the traditional way
We`ll raise our glasses at the dinner table
to celebrate good fortune
on this christmas day
Looking forward to sharing
this christmas with you

So much appreciated, Peatle! Thanks, and Merry Christmas to yourself also. I'm sure I speak for the rest of the Chordie Universe, that we have all appreciated your music, your poetry, your humor, and the in-depth background you often provide us with about so much of the world's great music. You're truly deserving of "The Loremaster" title, and we're fortunate to have you among us.
Here Here,
Peatles a great bloke.

City Burning
Posturing on the world stage
While at home builds a rage
Ordinary citizens
on the street
complaining of
political elites
city burning
flames at night
block the roads
and protest
thousands of people
in yellow vest
tired of being
ignored and dismissed
nows their time
to resist
so called leaders
using force
head in sand
to this discourse
city burning
flames in the night

I love hearing new chordie songs, but i`m not so keen on people who don`t contribute
to chordie other than saying hey look i wrote a song have a listen to me.
I enjoy having a conversation with chordians.
Some generous chordians have given me support and i`m more than happy to support them back.
There`s some wonderful songs coming out of chordie,if you don`t bother i guess it`s your loss.
bye the way merry christmas

Was going to write a Christmas song, but it kinda ended up something different entirely.
I guess Christmas is a time to count our blessings,so after writing this song(about a friend)
if you are in good health thats a blessing. Maybe something we all to often take for granted.

Your first song was good, this one is not just a step forward, but several steps forward.
You`re coming to terms with recording and your confidence is growing.
As for advice, well who am i to offer advice? But all i can say is, do songs that work for you.
Try everything, but your favourite songs may not be the type of song that you do best.
rock on!

Re: What's YOUR Guitar-Playing "Block",........ (12 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
Another great topic, Bill ... as always. My main block to playing more than I do is prioritizing, and unfortunately that puts playing guitar well down the list. I put everything in three columns mentally, to make sure important things don't get ignored:
1) Things I mustdo
Earning income, maintaining household, cars, etc., looking after my wife and family, eat, sleep, etc.2) Things I shoulddo
Visiting relatives or people in hospital, personal health stuff, church responsibilities, working on my next book, etc.3) Things I wantto do
Reading, fishing, kayaking, wood working, watching basketball & football (soccer), listening to music, and yes ... playing guitarsWhile this doesn't give me as much time to play as I'd like (or need) it does keep me hungry to play, which is always a good thing.
TF
I see you mentioned about writing `another` book.Tell me more.
I`m very interested to hear about your writing,as i`m in awe of authors.
