I thought I had my cache set to dump every time I closed Firefox. I went in and checked and it turns out I did not.

Yes. I can now see the 2 buttons.

So what the heck is going on? There has been a continuous barrage of spam all morning.

I know we've been through this in the past but might it be time to consider a 24 hour waiting period before a new member can make a post?

Or possibly have every post from a new member that has an embedded link to go straight to moderation? I don't know if chordie has that capability but it worked very well on my homesteading forum. Nobody but the mods could see it and we could dump it before it had a chance to show up to the general membership.

I'm glad to hear that it was just a cache issue, and it's sorted out now.

Per is working on the spam issue.  So far it seems to be contained to a less frequented section of the forums, so that's good news.  I know it's tricky when you know how to moderate and feel like you're not seeing moderation happening.  The bottom line is, different forums software is programmable in different ways, and at the moment, it's just not that easy to "flip a switch".  There's coding that's still necessary on the back end, and a lot of this couldn't have been tested until the forums were live.

There's probably a million songs with only three chords, as I'm sure you know as a piano teacher.  smile  This has come up in the past on the forums, so you may want to look though some of the topics, as people have made suggestions in the past.  If you have an idea of what KIND of songs you're looking for (pop, country, folk, kids songs?), other members may be able to help with suggestions.  2 chord songs that come to mind ... Tom Dooley and He's Got the Whole World in His Hands

Here's some details about HOW to use Chordie:
You can search via Song Title ("Songs" link at the top) or Artist/Band Name ("Artists" link at the top) alphabetically.  Once on one of those pages, simply click the letters for alphabet sort.  You can also further limit your search from the "Songs" link to "Easy Songs Only" to help with finding more 3 chord songs.

Of course, from the "Home" page you can search in the box by simply typing (song or artist search is active).  And then... there's the "Public Songbooks" and options for searching there.  You may want to seek out "Absolute Beginner" books that other members have published.  "Books" consist of songs people have found and saved to a list, and then named and published to share with others.

Thanks, I see some of them are coming up now. Will try the iPad in a minute.

I usually have Chordie in a 'pinned' tab in browser.  Have noticed that a lot of links take me to a new Tab instead of just going to the page in the current open Tab, not sure why.

Admin may have changed some of the links to open in a new tab - BUT there are browser settings that you can change as well, so it could be a setting in your browser.  What browser are you using?  smile

4 pages of spam this morning! All seem to be in the "Other String Instruments" section.

Way too many to try to report individually.

Yeah, we don't need every single one reported.  When you do send a report up, you can just mention in it that there's pages of spam.  That's sufficient.

WAIT... did you find the report button???

Nope. Nothing there.

I see you posted in the other thread (bug reporting) - but since I already have a photo for reference in this one, we'll carry on here.  smile

Peculiar... Let's try some troubleshooting ASSUMING you are using a computer.  If not, don't waste your time reading this... if you're on a mobile device, just reply that you are, because that may be completely different directions.

1. log out, close down entire browser and all open tabs, open browser back up and log in.  Come back here, look or the report/quote.  No dice?  go to #2

2. close all browser tabs and windows except ONE - log out of chordie.  Clear browser cache.  (need instructions? go here and click the browser you are using up at the top for detailed directions with photos: http://www.wikihow.com/Clear-Your-Browser's-Cache )  After clearing cache, close the browser completely, open it back up, come back and log in, find the report/quote buttons in the forum thread.  STILL no dice? Go to #3

3. Browser:  It's possible (and maybe even likely - especially if you're using an older computer and operating system) that you're using an outdated version of Chrome, Firefox, IE, or Safari.  No, you don't HAVE to have Windows 10 or X, but your browser may not display websites correctly if they're old.  So, verify your browser is up to date.  Here's some instructions: http://www.wikihow.com/Update-Your-Browser  - as always, it's best to close out everything else except the page you're working on when making browser changes, so log out of chordie, close everything else out before you update, after updating make sure to close the last open browser window, open back up, log back in, check for links.

4. STILL NO DICE?  GAHHHH!  Now that's just weird. Did you put your reading glasses on?  Zoom the page in?  Are you SURE?  LOL!  smile  Um... send me an email.  I might need to give you some specific tasks to do to try to figure out what's going on.

Sorry Amy. I did that last night before I shut down and still don't see either button.

sad  I'll go ahead and reply on this in the other thread where I posted pictures of what you should be seeing, and reporting is being discussed.  Here: http://www.chordie.com/forum/post.php?t … qid=169713

Are you unable to log OUT?

You should be able to log out.  Once you log out, you should then be able to log back in with your other username.
You won't be able to be logged into both accounts at the same time.

Here's a quick link for you to the log out - log in page:  http://www.chordie.com/forum/login.php

When I sign in to Chordie I can see my songbooks and am still logged in to my account.  However, if I look up a song or an artist - it boots me out of my account and says I have to log in to add a song (even though I haven't logged out of my account).
I can then click on forum, say for example, and I am once again under my account, logged in, like nothing had happened.   IE, I cannot add to my existing songbooks right now.  It goes to beta mode.... is this the way it is for the time being or is something wrong?  I hope this makes sense to someone........   I'm so confused.... :-(

This should be resolved now!  smile

At first I thought it was just this song - but it seems there are more - in fact all of the songs I had posted!
They are not in the chordie pro  magical format either like they were before

Thanks for looking into it Amy
Sure hope it isn't lost.

Everything is not lost!  Per has confirmed that the original information is still in the saved database and is looking into getting the entire posts to show properly.  Seems this shortened message has happened on a few posts other than just those in songwriting (but not all) and it has something to do with a character included in a particular location of the original post.  Basically, there's something in the post that the forums software is reading as a "command to shorten the post" rather than just a good ole standard keystroke.  smile  It's on the "fix it" list!

REPORT and QUOTE are BACK!  As well as a few more handy links inside the forum pages.  If you're not seeing them... try logging out, closing your browser (don't leave any tabs open) then open back up and log back in.  If you still aren't seeing them, you may need to clear your browser's cache.  Le me know if you need help with that!

Hey guys, make sure to refresh the browser.  You might need to log out and then back in to see changes made earlier today.

Take a look at this photo.  I've circled the location of the report and quote functions for you!  smile

Hey there!  As a forum moderator, it's sooooo exciting to see people that have been members of the site for YEARS and are now making it to the forums because you're EXCITED about the changes, and have suggestions.  Awesome!

I do see you've been in here before.  smile  I'm not 100% on this, but I do believe that the option to search the ENTIRE site (which of course should include searching songbooks) is in the works.  If you go to the Home Page and type in "1980" as an example, you'll get this before hitting "search":

No direct match in songs or artist names. Submit to do free text search

Sadly, after hitting "search" you'll get this:

Sorry, but text search is not included yet. Still waiting for the service providers to fix a faulty cable. Should be done in 48 hours....

Now... I'm not sure if it'll be done in 48 hours or not... but... I'm hopeful this means it'll be SOON!  Thank you so much for the suggestion, and I'll make sure our AMAZING ADMIN sees this!  smile  In the meantime, did you see the NEW options for filtering Public Songbooks?  I'm loving it.  I like your idea as well!

rayco37 - I see you were having issues getting the chordpro view in this song:  http://www.chordie.com/chord.pere/www.r … gon-wheel#

I can't see the chordpro for it either.  I'll make sure the admin sees this so we can figure out what the issue is with this particular song.  THANK YOU!  You can post any other issues right in this thread if you like.  smile

There is not a way to view the old version of the site.  We've actually been beta testing this site for over a month, and the old site was taken offline and the databases were moved over into this layout on an entirely different server.

rayco37 and TIGLJK - A LOT of updates were made today.  Many of these things simply were not able to be found until the site was live.  As you find bugs and issues, please do report them.  The site admin has been working nearly day and night making tweaks here and there.  It's currently about midnight his time, and he's still working on this as I type.  We welcome your feedback on any issues you're finding.  Should you prefer, you're welcome to send me an email if that makes anything easier!  smile

Glad to hear!  The amazing Admin has done a great job, and is still working out kinks of course.  smile  There's a thread for reporting bugs, should you see any we'd LOVE to hear about them so we can make them go away!  smile

Oh... and by the way, Welcome to the forums!  I can see you've been a member a while, but this is your first post.  There's a pretty good membership in the forums.  You should come visit more often!  wink

Yup, there's a few functions missing from the forums, however they are being worked on!  smile  There's a thread over in the "About Chordie" section for reporting any bugs you find.  In the mean time, you can always use the good ole bbcode for quoting someone.  You'll have to copy their text and type the quote tags manually like this (as seen below, type the word quote within brackets and the /quote within brackets at the end of the copied and pasted text -you can include the username or not with an equal sign):

[quote]Mekidsmom is a little bit of a geek :) [/quote]
or
[quote=mekidsmom]I am a glutton for punishment, as I told everyone I am a bit of a geek and provided them with the code to quote me on it. Oh boy... [/quote]

Will look like this:

Mekidsmom is a little bit of a geek smile

or

Go ahead... quote away!  There are other tags available as well.  The "code" tag was used in the above example allowing you to see my "quote" tags.  wink

Briguy777  -- Another user has also reported this in another thread... and I see that you are actually CORRECT.  My apologies.  This is still an issue.  Here's what he said:

I seem to have found a solution to my issue.... if I type the song name in the new (and absolutely wonderful!!!!) search window on the home page, I am able to add the song to my songbook that way.  It appears that when I use the "Song" or "Artist" tab at the top and search through that function, I am not able to add a song to my songbook.  PS - really lovin' the new website revamp.... nicely done!!! :-)

So, we have added this issue to the list - searching from the Song or Artist page logs you out, however searching from the "home" page via the text input search does not log you out.  For now, I hope that work around will help you in staying logged in.  I'll ensure our admin is aware of the log out issue!!!  Thank you again for the report!

Thwapper - thank you for that bug report!  Your details have helped narrow down when this is happening!  I'm glad you were able to find a work around in the meantime.  The search is SWEET isn't it?  smile

UJB - as soon as we can get that spam out we will.  Thank you!

Hi Briguy777!  Welcome to the NEW Chordie and forums!  It's Saturday morning here in NY (EST 7am) - I've just checked and am not experiencing this issue.  It may have happened to you when the site was still being worked on.  Can you check again and let us know if you're still experiencing this issue?

If so, please try clearing your browser's cache, then attempt to log in again.

If this doesn't resolve the issue, we would like to get more information from you (such as the operating system you are using and browser as well as browser version - let us know if you need help finding this information as well).  Using an updated browser may solve the issue if yours is outdated (which may be likely as you state you are using an older computer).  You may wish to try downloading google chrome or mozilla firefox for free if your Safari is unable to be updated to the current version.

The new update may have a few glitches here and there, we greatly appreciate your help finding them all and fixing them to make Chordie better than ever!  Thanks!!!!

Hey rayco37!  How are you liking the new layout so far?

You should now be able to see alternate views for songs.  On a computer, open the song desired, on the top right you should see icons above the chord charts.  Click on the one that looks like an eye, and choose "Chordpro".  smile  On a mobile device, these options should be found below the song.  Let us know if you're having any issues finding/viewing/etc along with a link to the page in question.  As UJB has said... this is all new, and there may be a few bugs!  Please help us find them if you see any so we can report them to the admin and make sure the new Chordie is BETTER than before!!!  Thanks!!!!

smile  Scott at band practice, I imagine is like a kid in a candy store.  wink  Good for you guys!  Looking forward to the link!

Hi Robert.  I do hereby dub you OYB.  Welcome to Chordie.  Do you play guitar, or did you just stop in to pop your website into a new profile to get link backs to your business page?  That's kind of frowned upon.  You'll need to please remove the advertising from your profile, and check with our admin (admin@chordie.com) for advertising options.

I think a bit more of an introduction is in order, if you're planning to hang around.  Tell us about your guitars, ukes, banjos, and other stringed instruments.  smile  How long ya been playing?

Please read the stickies at the top of each section.  And especially this one as well: http://www.chordie.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=15055
Hope to see ya back in here again soon.
