I know I watched these before when Pix posted them, but I didn't get as much form them as I did this time. What an amazing guy! He should be a teacher, I could listen to him for hours. I would love to see his shop. I bet it's immaculately in order.
MB, I hear ya. I kinda didn't understand the whole air pump idea. Everything else made sense tho.
So last night i was practicing and playing. I thought I was doing really good. Everything sounded good, I was hitting all the right chords, blues scales flowed nice and easy. I was having a good night. Then I log into Youtube to check out new vids from my subscriptions. That's when I came across this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl … s2KAOnEIDA
Love this guy and can't say enough good things about him.
Right at 8:00 mins was where I realized that I really don't know anything. When will I be able to do that. He made it look so easy and it's just a blues scale but I can't make it sound like that. SIGH....
That is so cool Topdown, never knew about the sttings thing.
Welcome to the forum Aeroparrot!!!!!
So if i understand it right, in the end, you have too many guitars only if you're not making money with them? That's lopsided. I'm sure professional musicians can and do have too many.
But really, can you have TOO many? I think not.
Good for you Joey!!!!! Gotta watch your friend's back. Besides, who made the singer king of the band? Shouldn't everyone have to agree to kick someone out?
Good for you Sonny!!!!! It's a great feeling huh? As Zurf would say, make sure you're practicing perfect. Anyone can learn to get by. But in the long run you will be better off practicing perfectly.
There's been quite a few country vids posted lately and it just solidifies the fact that I don't like country music. I can appreciate their musicianship tho.
Keep that good attitude bud!!! You will get better and be back strumming away. It will take time but you'll get there.
I think I heard that golf is good therapy for a repaired rotator cuff. Maybe a new hobby to pass the time?
Wait a minute!!!!!!! I don't know if a D-15 is a dread or not. I'm guessing it is. But then again, I didn't just buy one brand new either. So I guess I'm a beginner too.
It might be easier to practice with a song you already know. You know what strum has to fit between chord changes and corresponding words, so start slow with the clicker and try to work it out. Hope that makes sense. I myself don't use a metronome so I could just be blowing hot air.
Hey Butch!!!!! Just wonderin' how the fingers are doin'? We haven't had an update in a while.
Cool story DJ. But you missed an opportunity to be able to handle that Martin regularly. You should have offered him some lessons. I'm sure if he put down that kinda money on his new guitar, then lessons would be a no brainer. And it's just cool to pass on the knowledge you have to someone else.
BTW, Amy, I love my <$200 bangers that I have!!!!!!!
NICE!!!!!
Didn't you say that you had to get rid of one to get this one? So which one did you axe? (no pun intended, but still funny)
Free Fallin' capo on the 4th and play D G A.
Save the Last Dance for Me, A D E.
Oh wow, I didn't hear about this. It was probly over shadowed by Davy Jones dying. Ronnie played with some of the best. Man, we're losing 'em one by one.
Given that I've just agreed to buy Dirty Ed's Breedlove, I'm not GASSING for this particular guitar any more. OK, that's a lie. Clearly I am still GASsing for it. But the likelihood of me actually buying it is remote and will require disposal of at least one present guitar.
No No No. We don't dispose of guitars unless they are broken. We pass them on, give them new life, give them away, find a new home for them, but never dispose of them. But I get ya, you must thin out your herd before the next purchase.
How'd they do that? Well if you look at the headboard of the bed it is made of peeler logs. Just small logs really. And it looks hand made. So, going by that, they obviously live out in the sticks where they don't have schools. No schools means more time to sit around and learn an instrument. If you had 8 years to do nothing but learn to play I'm sure you could be that good.
That's how I'm rationalizing their talent otherwise I'd have another bout of giving up.
I know alot us think Tommy is awesome. I ran across this vid on Youtube by Siggi Mertens. If you're not familiar with Siggi, he is great. Very laid back. Someone you would like to sit and have a beer and jam session with.
She brought it up once. I told her "You spend more at the nail salon and hairdresser is a year than any guitar I have costs - Now go make me a sammich"
Since that day on, Topdown sings 2 octaves higher than he used to. HeeHee
My wife's response is always the same, "Don't you ave enough already?".
My collection is done at 4. If I get another then I will have to part with one.
I just had to share this.

Sound is kinda low until the singing.
I don't care if you're a believer or not, this is absolutely awesome!!!!!!
Happy early birthday to you!!!!!
As I was reading your post I thought, hey he still has another 425 to spend! But then I read your policy. That's great if you can stick to it. I myself have no policy and wouldn't abide by it anyhow. I have told myself that I have enough. It just ties up too much fundage.
Her ya go Richard:
If you're actually missing the last part of your finger that's got to be tuff. Are your fingers long in general? Are you able to compensate for the missing inch?
Django Reinhardt had very limited use of his 3rd and 4th finger on his fretting hand.
Jerry Garcia and Phil Keaggy were missing most of their middle fingers, but on their strumming hand.
Tony Iommi was missing half the tips of two of his fingers due to a work accident. That was his fretting hand.
I didn't read these but ran across them:

Where there's a will there's a way!!!!!!
Yup, been there done that. Had two fingers on my left hand smashed in a sliding van door when I was a kid. Turned the darkest purple I've ever seen. New ones came in just fine.
As Amy said about the pressure underneath, I've done that myself a time or two. On the job, smashed or pinched my finger and had to use a small drill bit or a hot needle to pierce the nail to let it bleed. Hurt like the dickens when I did it but felt waaaaaaaaay better afterward.
