There are a few tunes with bass riff's in, but they seem to be in the minority; when I was playing bass I used the same root note as the guitarist chords, then built some riffs around that to the next part of the song ...

HTH!

I've got a smaller short scale Hohner, which is great because it's small ....

Neo guitar works good but found your vocals a bit hard to hear but still a good sound all round. Better than what I could do. Maybe the  microphone needs to be closer to your mouth.

Cheers - the MXL is an omni-directional microphone, so I found it picked up a lot of guitar; when I mixed it down the vocals were supposed to be treated separate to the guitar, but I found modifying anything became 'muddy' (and this was excluding the other MXL from the mix) - unfortunately when I'm doing the recording and being the one recorded, it's hard to monitor these things as they happen, and you only get to work with the outcome, so next time I'm switching back to a uni-directional mic and maybe putting the acoustic baffle on my soundhole. But thank you for the compliment!

This is again very good, Neo ... and you don't even sound a bit like Ann Wilson! lol She remains as one of my favorite female lead vocalists of all time. Nice job on one of their softer songs.

Thanks ... smile

That's cool!  Whats the tuning on it since its a short scale? or is just a smaller body?

It's normal tuning, just a smaller body - the acoustic sound is a bit thin, so I've got the pickup putting out it's sound ...

Great cover of one of Gordon Lightfoot's classic tunes, Neo. His distinct voice, story-teller writing, and easy-to-listen to style have made him an icon of Canadian folk music. He's received more awards than you can shake a stick at, and now at 80 years old, still shows up on stage now then for a song or two. Thanks for paying this terrific tribute to him ... Neo-style!

Thanks - I did a cover of "If you could read my mind" at the local acoustic club and one of the old guys came up and said how much he liked Lightfoot, and asked if I saw him live (which I haven't), and other general chit chat. He's got some good tunes; I wish I knew some of them better ... smile

Happy NGD. I've enjoyed playing around with my 12 string. At the most recent ChordieStock at Topdown's house, I borrowed his 12 string for Southern Cross and then played it pretty regularly for the next several days.

Thanks - 12's are fun to play, but I find you need to have the song to fit them ....
