Topic: What was your most disasterous gig (1 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
Ok I'll start this one off
Last night at the Horse and Rainbow in Kendal a pub I've played before with some success.
Problem one . Mother nature unleased a serious storm on the North of England .
Problem two Drummer arrives early and has some heath issues causing him to have to leave as soon as Bass player arrives
Problem three , I arrive and try to contact stand in drummer who lives local but he is also ill .
Problem 4 Do Ben and I play as a duo or make our excuse s and leave .
Result we play and it all goes well but some what reduced in volume (drummers are noisy )
This rates as probably one of the most stressfull gigs since coming back to the UK, however the absolute most disasterous ever was when we were cancelled from the Matala beach festival in 2013 due to some Pink Floyd impersonation band taking every bodys sound check time sorting their drum kit .
They made it up to us the folowing year though

This is a song about a true event

D G
We left the stage round 2pm and headed for the bar.
A G D
Just played the best gig ever ,that we had done by far
D G
There were thousands watching ,in the sunshine ,on the beach
A G D
It was time to celebrate ,the bar was soon in reach .
G D
Rockin in the sunshine , rollin in the sea,
G A D
Rockin in the sunshine that’s the life for me
D G
We drank until the early hours ,couldn’t say how much ,
A G D
I was feeling pretty drunk ,I hadn’t lost my touch
D G
We staggered to the hotel ,and tumbled into bed .
A G D
They had to check my breathing , to see if I was dead
G D
Rockin in the sunshine , rollin in the sea,
G A D
Rockin in the sunshine that’s the life for me
D G
I got up in the morning ,another perfect day
A G D
The Mediterranean sunshine just blows your blues away
D G
The band were looking real cool ,eating breakfast , then they saw
A G D
Me looking like Keith Richards grandpa ,coming through the door
G D
Rockin in the sunshine , rollin in the sea,
G A D
Rockin in the sunshine that’s the life for me
D G
Brian was the first to speak ,”we thought that you were dead !”
A G D
We had to haul you up that hill, and throw you into bed
D G
Never seen some one, drink so much and not throw up
A G D
We’ve just ordered coffee, I’m sure you need a cup
G D
Rockin in the sunshine , rollin in the sea,
G A D
Rockin in the sunshine that’s the life for me
D G
Stef and Nik just sat and laughed ,never seen me quite this bad
A G D
Stef then got his camera ,to show the snaps he had
D G
He posted them on Facebook ,to show the word my plight .
A G D
Just like Keith Ritchards grandpa , a pretty scary sight
G D
Rockin in the sunshine , rollin in the sea,
G A D
Rockin in the sunshine that’s the life for me
D G
Now those days are over ,we’ve gone our separate ways
A G D
We often still remember ,all about that day
D G
We sang and played our hearts out ,back there in the sun
A G D
I looked like Keith Ritchards Grandpa , but we were having fun

I'm afraid most jazz leaves me a bit cold unless it is very much in a blues vein .But I can understand its draw from a technical aspect . So well done to those who can play it you have my admiration .

Played the song at the open mic last night It was well recieved but none of the audience had heard of Robert Jon . so I hope it stirred some intrest.
We will see how it goes with the band at rehearsal next week .

Two good songs Jan very clear vocal ,Uke sounded a little distorted at times I'm assuming its an electric one .Good though ,when ever Ive owned a uke Ive always changed the G string to a low G ,to my ears it gives a more mellow sound . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A9o-LEe8fLk

Re: guitar and mic (9 replies, posted in Guitars and accessories)
Thats definetly the best option the new version has a 50 watt output and is great but quite expensive , I loaned my old er one to a freind for a rest home gig and it was more than adequate

Re: guitar and mic (9 replies, posted in Guitars and accessories)
You need a mixer then you can split the signal .My Roland cube 40 has an auxiliary input ,I sometimes use for small gigs .I feed a 4 channel mixer in there and it gives me good clean sounds with plenty of volume .Don't just plug the Mic into the six as the signal level is too low with out the mixer. For smaller gigs I have a Roland street cube which has 2 separate channels and sounds great.Hope this helps Brian
