easybeat, nothing wrong with the reverb and nothing wrong with the recordings.  I just think as your voice is reasonably quiet, you probably need to either increase the recording volume on the  vocals or decrease the instrumental recording so it doesn't override your vocals.  Hope that makes sense.

Grah1,
Very catchy, nicely done once again smile

easybeat,
haven't heard you play banjo in a long time,  good to see you mixing it up.  This one bounced along nicely with the banjo.  I still at times struggle to hear the lyrics, just wondered if you turned the vocals up when recording so your voice is above the instrument would help.   Also, can you re-enter the other song you put up in Suggestions too smile

Hi everyone,

So, for AUGUST, looking for SUGGESTIONS for SONGS with the words;
TOMORROW
FLOWER or FLOWERS
WITHOUT
WHISKEY

You can do COVERS, or you can do an ORIGINAL.
NOTE:  If you decide to do an ORIGINAL, feel free to post the lyrics and chords in with your SUGGESTION if you want too and if you would like others to attempt it.

READY!  SET!  GO!

Hiya easybeat and Grah1, thanks for the entries, I haven't had a chance to listen to them yet but will do.  Can you please repost your entries into the JULY FSOTM as this topic is ONLY for SUGGESTIONS and I will be closing it, thanks.

Hi everyone, here we are already well over halfway through the year!  Time is going way to fast it seems.

For the month of JULY, looking for any SONG with the following words in the lyrics.   These 5 different words are:  DOOR … CHILD …GOODBYE … RAIN … LOVE.

You can perform any song you like, so long as it has at least one of those words somewhere in it.

Some suggestions that have been made by members are:

* Early Morning Rain – by Gordon Lightfoot
* Don`t Think Twice, It`s Alright – by Bob Dylan
* To Her Door – by Paul Kelly
* The Door (Mamma`s Song) – by Jim Kenyon (our very own Chordie member TIGLJK).  The lyrics and chords to this song can be found in the SUGGESTIONS for JULY Topic.

Once again, you can perform any of the above suggestions for this month or you can do a song you have found that may not have been suggested.   As long as it has one or more of those words in the lyrics and you can perform as many songs as you like.

It can be a COVER, ORIGINAL and or INSTRUMENTAL, you decide.  Looking forward to what you all come up with.

READY!  SET!  GO!

Nicely done mojo, I like the lyrics in this song.  I thought the first version was good too.

Thanks neo, yep reckon that fits the categories, I will have to go find it and have a listen.

TIGLJK, awesome, you have nailed it with this song (covers all the categories too) but I really like the song as well.  I will definitely give it ago, hopefully I  can come up with something.

Thanks so much Peatle and TIGLJK for the great feedback, it was a new style for me to try and I enjoyed learning it smile  Yes TIGLJK I agree, I hope one of these days Brian, Peatle and myself get to have a jam together, we did some years ago smile

Sorry for the late response been laid low with coughs and sniffles.

Awww that was touching  Peatle, thankyou, made my day reading that smile

neophytte and Phill, yep hard when there's no other Chordians near you to catch up with.  Still its nice some of you manage to email and keep in touch via other social media so at least that is something.  I remember the days when mekidsmom used to host an annual event for the Americans that could make it.  That looked like lots of fun.

Awesome Zurf, some good ones you have suggested smile

Anyone else got some suggestions for us to try next month?

Here is a song I have done for this month.  https://soundcloud.com/ukulelejan/dont- … ch-anymore

neophytte, your first song, Blue Monday, sounded good, nicely put together with the reverb, made it affective.
Your second and third song Honey Sunday.  In both cases the sound quality wasn't the best (and I can understand why because of the time period when equipment isn't what it is today).  The drum in both videos became the focus because of the loudness.  And agree with you,  the young girls performance was better in the 3rd video.  But I enjoyed seeing a young enthusiatic group of people getting together and jamming, having fun which is what music is all about.

jets, that was a very touching song, lyrics, musically and vocally.  It touched my heart for sure.

Hi everyone,  seems to be a bit on the quiet side in here lately, so thought I would drop in and say howdy to you all.  Had a nice catch up with easybeat aka Brian today for coffee and a bite to eat at a nice café.  We of course chatted about Chordie, music in general and what we have been doing lately, (though I realized afterwards I actually hadn't filled easybeat on much I had been doing) as we got focused on music and book writing and people we knew or hadn't seen in awhile.  Anyways, it was great to catch up, see the face behind the music and in Brian's case poems and published author of a book!  We had hoped Peatle could have joined us today being the only 3 active Kiwi`s on Chordie but not to be today as it turned out, hopefully next time Pete smile
Anyway, enough from me, but thought I would pop in and say Howdy, hope some of you get to catch up with each other and put a face to that name on Chordie smile

Another awesome one from you, great lyrics and performance and as I said on SoundCloud, great to see you back into it.  You, along with some of the others on here, very talented song writer, guitarist and vocals great too.

easybeat, nice one, I like the simplicity of the lyrics, makes it catchy, easy listening.  You performed it well.

That's awesome, I like this one very much.  Looking forward to hearing it.

On another note, anyone else got a song for us? I will endeavor to get something up this week, I have been away this weekend and have had a busy couple of weeks, so hopefully find some time this week.

Wow Zurf your on a roll!  Love it smile

So that first song you did the numbers song, I have to admit, I have never heard it before, so I will make sure to go have a listen to the original.  But you did some awesome guitar work in there on that one, must have taken you a while to learn it? Very impressive guitar work.

The second and third songs, both songs I love and remember well.

The Second song suited you vocally and you played it well, had me singing along and tapping my feet.  I could quite easily have danced along to that one.  It is one I covered (or tried to cover) about 5 yrs ago for Chordie FSOTM but certainly didn't play it well like you do.  https://soundcloud.com/ukulelejan/sunda … ming-down.

Finally your third song, laughs and giggles aside, you played it well, especially from memory if you haven't played it in a long time.  With a bit more practice you would totally nail it.  I love the sound of this one on guitar, there is something about the chord progression that is really appealing how it sounds.  If I could even play it like you did, I would be very impressed with myself.

ctech, well written, performed really well musically as well.  A touching song, of heartbreak and broken relationships and the hurt along with it.
