Okay so I'll admit there are some pretty sweet videos out there and its cool to see you're fav. artists on T.V. and everything, but am I the only one who thinks that putting the FOCUS of everything on the video is screwing up a lot of stuff? Seems like you can have one well directed video without really having the talent to match it and still be famous, while on the other hand some really decent musicians that don't have the funding to make videos will fizzle out of recognition. Now being a country music fan i mostly only know about that (so maybe its different in other genres?)
I think we've lost a lot since the days when you were judged by how good you SOUNDED (especially back when people would probly hear you live on one of the nashville shows or something). Videos are the doctored up versions of the way a person plays, sings, and even looks.... anyway this is open for debate but i think the 'music video' is responsible for the decline in talented artists we seem to be in these days.

you're lyrics are always so poetic... anyway nice one. wouldn't understand all that mess personally.I know some people who got nose jobs and stuff that were happy with it though, i guess the key is moderation.

And Zurf, check out here - http://radioy.com/index.php?option=cont … ;Itemid=31
there is an option to listen to either hip hop and r & b, or ROCK. I'd go for the rock cos the other is just plain smelly. I've found a few good bands and tunes on here but as you say there is a lot of gut churning poop out there.
lol actually its sister but yeah

I know people who thinkhe's still alive... now don't get me wrong he had some good music but the man is dead. or at least if he wasn't dead then he'd be dead of old age by NOW lol.... all the same though he was a good musician who did a lot for people who followed after him.
Yall ever seen the movie BUBBA HOTEP? Elvis fans might be slightly offended at this ridiculously stupid and yet funny show about how elvis is secretly alive in a retirement home in Nacadoches Texas...

yeah i kind of wanted it to be able to stand for any soldier even though it mainly focuses on good ole johnny. thanks for the compliments yall ![]()
By the way arkady, the whole point i was trying to get across is whether or not you agree with him, 'that ole confederate' was a PERSON. A young boy who died quicker than he ought to have had to die. Its always sad when young life is taken no matter which side they're fighting for....
"If this flag offends you, you need a history lesson".... just thought i'd throw that one in for free lol

"If we are talking about contemporary music then it has to relate to the contemporary world. An awful lot of Christian music presents a shiny, sugar coated way of life, which is fine for some purposes but which I (and I stress this is personal) find very patronising and sickly sweet."
Just throwing in an amen on that one lol
My life was never sugar coated... seems like there's this message going out (and im not putting down any bands or churches or whatever i just mean from people in general) that when you're a christian everything's smiley and nice and comfortable, when the truth of the matter is Jesus is a personal savior and Lord, not a ticket out of all your problems. Yes he'll be there but you're still gonna get sick and probly die someday and you're still gonna have bills to pay and relationships that need work and cars that break down and you're uncle bubba's gonna still be in jail and your cousin adrian's still gonna be a hooker, and you're boss is gonna still be a jackass.... anyway you get the point.

Id just like to say that those acts werew performed by certain sects and denominations who CLAIMED christianity... There were and still are genuine born again christians who teach and preach the Biblical version of the Gospel and have maintained decent reputations. When you hear the word 'christian' bear in mind how many different denominations there are with differences that are black and white.
Hi last rebel,
No offense was intended to any christians of whatever creed. These acts were commited roughly 600 years ago. I don't dispute that there are and were many decent, devout christians of whatever creed. I just like to swop tidbits of info with doc as he is very knowledgeable and has a wide field of interest. If I offended you please accept my appologies.
oh yeah thats cool i wasnt offended i just wanted to make sure nobody got the idea that all christians were like that.... in fact different denominational histories are something i find quite interesting. You should hear some of the stories of the down south baptists who got interrupted by the KKK. Believe it or not that wasn't too long ago i know a dude who can tell you all about it. Scary stuff when i think how close i am to evadale lol

Re: FUNNY FACTS 9 (16 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
Another fun word combo to say real fast, repetitvely, is "Toy Boat". Go on and give it a try, you know you want to.......... My late Grandfather had some fabulous takes on life. One I distinctly recall is this; "Son, if you wanna have a good, friendly, peaceful, visitin' spell with family or friends there's two things that don't get talked about. One is government and the the other is religion. I've tried to live by these words around people whom I am fond of and it seems to be, for me at least, a sensible life philosophy. No hidden message or meaning in this comment, just sharing some past experiences that improved my life.
Then AGAIN if you want to sit back and watch one hilarious riot (provided you have a back door you can slip quietly out of), just insert that infamous 'what do you think of george bush', or baptist versus pentecostal in one of my family reunions. Can't do it too often though since i have a few cousins that will resort to firearms...

im that oh so made fun of type of night owl that likes to stay up all night and make it up till 11 or 12 the next day lol... if I know i need to get up i usually set my limit at around 11:30 or midnight. My excuse would be I have a lot of trouble falling to sleep even if i'm exhausted. guess thats why i just gave up and got up instead. on important days when i know im gonna need energy i take sleeping pills so i can get some rest but i just hate to get addicted by using them every night

Hank Williams Jr. is the son of HAnk WIlliams Sr who gave him the nick name so he goes by it . SOmetimes goes by Thunderhead Hawkins too but I don't really know the reason behind that one
Oh yeah and in case you dont know Hank WIlliams Sr. was one of the most famous country singers of all time... sang your cheatin' heart, im so lonesome i could cry.

lol well im glad you enjoyed the U.S.... and yes BELIEVE me there's a big difference between L.A, N.Y, and the rest of America. Despite what you hear on T.V. there's still alot of America thats quiet towns and apple pie type stuff
Never been to Nashville but Im planning a trip to there after I graduate highschool next year. I've always wanted to take the trip west down route 66 too.
One thing I noticed when I took a vacation up north last summer is that the northern states dont seem to have as music as we texans/lousianans do. Guess I expected it to be like this everywhere but there really is a lot of musical heritage in this area
... oh and i hate to correct people but its lone STAR state lol

hmmm...... thats a good question. I think its probly somethin' by Hank Sr., maybe Your Cheatin' Heart or You Win Again. Then again it COULD be any of these awesome songs:
whiskey bent and hell bound- another one by old thunderhead hawkins
long haired country boy- charlie daniels
are you sure hank done it this way- waylon jennings
folsom prison blues- johnny cash
Im thinking there should be some willie nelson and merle haggard on the list but i dont have time to think it out right now... how 'bout you?
