Helena just off hand the voice of Boris Karloff reciting the words to the "Monster Mash" comes to mind lol it sounds to me like a sonnet put to music and spoken not sung,my keyboards on the fritz (broken) but if it were working I would have a "Arkady" type backing, ethereal, haunting and somber textured layers that he excels in, "Ark you up for a challenge"? smile I would have several members send me a voice only mp3 reciting the words and choose which voice sounds best to you and then just add it to the instrumental track smile

Russ/Lena  smile
I would be interested in putting Lena's poem to music a in way that Russ described if any Chordains are up to recording Lena's words. Any one interested in such project?

Oh Dear I've taken part in a thing I never thought was practical or would happen a recording of a song that had more than 2/3 people.
Well I'm big enough to admit publicly that Mr pessimistic was a little too pessimistic. big_smile
and anyway I'm sorta glad to be proved wrong...
Full marks to you Roger for your ingenuity and hard work (One thinks it may have been a labour of love) for pulling it off with the limited means at your disposal.

It's a beauty.. My beauty.. smile
Just had to show..
Thanks

I think the G Chord as featured on the front page of Chordie is easiest placement of fingers for a beginner. Using the pinky to hold down the high E can be very painful to a novice and off putting in the early stages learning.
Other placement of fingers can be learnt futher long the road of learning.

That said I play G in the easiest position for the song I'm playing.
Just do enough....

Hi Russ
I think I remember you mentioning this rock opera you wrote a while back.
Is this a new recording of it?
Certainly reminds me abit of Jesus Christ Super Star I guess it's the Biblical contex.
You seem to draw alot of your insparation from Bible stories.
Liked the Instrumental Accention well I would smile
and Song for Thomas...
Thanks for sharing..

I'm working on a long piece of music myself more tracks than I care to mention smile
It's a long term project.

Hey 06sc500
I'm all for experimentation with melody etc with guitar done enough myself for good and bad.  smile
Had a listen to your project and first off I found the recording on the quiet side and somewhat thin on sound lacking perhaps some bass.
Looping is a good idea (Get it right once and your off)  but unsyncing notes is not to my taste.
Guitar instrumentals are difficult to pull off without the inclusion of other backing instruments unless you are a great player like Tommy Emmanuel etc....
It's all a learning experience....
Hope you find this constructive.

Hi Roger
It's amazing the lengths some people will go to pursue a passion.
It was interesting watching the vid of them being filmed re-enacting parts of Brief Encounter.
and your song goes well with the black and white stills.

Ark

Seeing this ole post has emerged again....
One thing that p's me off big time is wires mainly electrical. Heaven only knows how much time I've spent untangling them.
Wires from.... Guitars, microphones, keyboards, headphones, amps, effect pedals, Computers (there's got to be hundreds of those little sods behind there).... not to mention the dust.
TVs, Videos, DVD's, Cable boxes, Hi-Fis, game consoles, lawn mowers, strimmers, all power tools (too many to mention) extention leads... (which always seem to get some sort of Gordian Knot in them how?)
Even the wireless stuff has to be plugged in with wires or has batteries that need charging in a battery charger that needs a wire...
If someone invents a real untanglable (is that word) electrical wire then they are going to be rich....

After much thought I've decided to called the song "For Spirit and Opportunity" EH....
Let me explain..
It was Roger's " A walk on Venus"  smile that reminded me of  NASA's twin robot Mars exploration vehicles launched toward Mars on the 10th June and 7th July 2003, in search of answers about the history of water on Mars. They landed on 3rd January and on 24th January 2004. They have been exploring and testing the surface ever since way beyond their expected life span of 3 months.
They have found lots of evidence of water but as of yet no life.....
I'm interested in anything to do with space exploration so I follow the website deicated to their travels and finds.
The twin Mars exploration vehicles are called Spirit and Opportunity and so the reason for the name..

Thanks again for all the suggestions.

Hi Ark - I had a listen, groovy laid back tune

I think the typo in your post lends itself to a title. I assume you meant "no specific idea", but I think "Pacific Idea" is a good title.

Topdown what I'm I like... pacific for specific Oh dear what a howler lol

The problem is I think I like them all...

Hi All
I have yet another Instrumental up on soundclick smile
As yet it's untitled and I'm wondering if anyone can spare the time a have a listen and maybe give me their thoughts as to what it conjured up their minds and perhaps suggest a title.

I am really stuck on this one as the process of naming instrumentals is difficult when you have no pacific idea on which to build a name.

Anyway as Always thanks for Reading/Listen........ and maybe naming that tune..

Jamie Willard has 7257 friends so I guess he's fairly popular smile
Saying that I like his sound it's a little different which is saying something nowadays..
Well he's "My Friend" now lol

Hi 06sc500
As this has been posted in the recording forum I would like to add my bit...
I also have a problem with my voice when recorded i don't feel comfortable listening to it but there's one thing I've found out when recording.
1st it's best to record the basic song on one track with no vocals.
Then sing along with the basic song on a 2nd track this gives an option of adding reverb/echo etc which can improve a basic recorded voice and also alows a complete deletion and rerecord if required without the loss of the basic song.
Still don't be to hard on yourself voice wise and keep at it.
But if singing not for you then stick to instrumentals  smile

The time for the next session is fast approaching the session is set for this Thursday the 16Th at 7pm and I have been purposely avoiding working out a lead solo note for note because I believe that a general idea is better as it leaves more room for spontaneity and having a set arrangement of notes in a solo would be counter productive,I know the chord changes and my solo will follow them but I will let the inner spirit, the creative force that God has blessed me with take over and guide my hands on the fretboard. Its easy to talk about how well you play but when you record its like words spoken, once they leave your lips you are judged by others and there is no rewind or second chance to make a first impression but im confident the notes I record will be up to my standards and the best I can do, and in the end thats all anyone can hope for.

I'm curious here Russ is there only to be one stab at recording and no chance for a retake?
or am i missing the point so to speak and the general aim is a one off warts and all solo.
Anyway good luck with your session...
