Thanks Ark ![]()
True enough. It's one of those things that we don't forsee as a child growing up so it's tough to prepare for, even though we've had time.
Thanks Again

Hi 06sc500 ![]()
Very well written.Your lyrics flow very nice.
I am still pretty green at writing so I'll have to search up how to play the chords you have used.
If you could put them in Chopro format it would be easier for us newbies.
In a previous post I noticed you said you have a spot on at MySpace. If so please post the link so we could hear it as it was meant to be played. ![]()

Hi Doc
I don't know why the track-list would be different in other countries other than different tastes. It's too easy with CD players to skip to your favorite tune but there must be a reason.
As for intros...Little Pink Houses by John Cougar Mellancamp
Night Moves by Bob Seiger
Turn the Page by Bob Seiger
I'm sure if these songs where played for a producer they would be "hooked" in the first 15-30 seconds.I guess that's why they call them hooks

Missed this one Headcase...Sorry about that.
I paid $275.00 Canadian dollars for my PX5D.Being new to recording and relearning to play I find it an awesome little gizmo.
As Doc says you can use it in your TV room with headphones to not bother anyone or use it cranked to jam. ![]()
Loaded with lots of preset base lines to jam with. 100 I think.
Loaded with rhythm patterns(not sure how many)
Loads of great effects that you can tweek to your liking.
The PX5D makes my electric/acoustic sound like I'm playing a top line electric should I wish.
I have been busy tons outside of music so I have not spent as much time on it I should but I'll get there.
Thanks Doc for turning me onto it. ![]()
Hope this helps Headcase

Re: What is the most important part of a song? (13 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
I'm no pro but I'd have to agree with you Doc.
Also when your pitching your song. You forever hear stories of producers that listen to the first 15-30 seconds of a song to determine whether it has appeal or not.
When it comes to classic songs you recognize them inside the first 5 seconds.
Good Topic ![]()

Hi Meggity
Sorry to hear of your condition. It must be very frustrating having to wait but as Roger says, take comfort that you are in good hands.
In the mean time... Do you write lyrics for songs you would like to play?
I ask this because we now have a recording section where we can apply our talents where needed. If you have lyrics than there are players that can add guitar or base or keyboard or vocals.
It can help pass the time for you and keep you occupied while you are waiting for your surgery.
Or maybe simply write a song and post it in the songwriting section.I know it made me feel good to see my written words posted.
Thinking of you in Canada

Everything else seems OK but I'll wait a bit before I post anything else.

I think this is probably his site.I only say this because I have personally had dialogue with my Guitar hero Walter Rossi on his forum and have checked out his MySpace site on his sayso.I did a post earlier on Walter Rossi and for those that did not see it here is a link to youtube from 1972. The man can play guitar.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b1Z-3fZPvR8)
He played some studio sessions with Jimi Hendrick and many other top bands in the sixties along with his own albums,he is a main producer in the Canadian Recording industry and is presently getting back to his old style of playing and is putting a band together.
His MySpace site is

When the media player is fixed have a listen to RIPDAD.It's for his dad after he passed.
Also check out his heavy weight friends
Enjoy ![]()

Re: Cast Off by the City Lights (19 replies, posted in Songwriting)
Hi again Ken ![]()
Criticize away. I value all opinions. ![]()
The piece was written for just piano but because of my lack of skill playing piano, singing and laying down a rhythm track,I put in all the different effects to help cover up mistakes made.(and there are a bunch
) and fill up the holes. Vocally I hear a deep voice singing, definitely not mine.
I never thought of going with just the acoustic but will give it some thought as I am still real green at playing and the idea of doing take after take(even though I'll get gooder) is a big pill to swallow.
Thanks for the honest opinion ![]()

Yup Bob Dylan was a main influence on me (thanks I have always been told I sound like him...which is a good thing.
) not for his singing but more for his lyrics and melodies.Real glad you liked it cause that is the main way I write. I still gotta get used to hearing me
I listen every morning on good advise but I'm still cringing. I'll get there.

The media player at MySpace has been changed. ![]()
It doesn't affect me but reading the forum at MySpace there are a lot of people that lost lyrics and video.Better check your page to see what's up.
Sounds like they did this to accommodate major artist as they can now have more than 6 tunes on their players and we cannot?
They should have given us a heads up on this one.

Re: Recording basics? (28 replies, posted in Recording)
Hi 06sc500
I also have been using Audacity for recording the last month.
It's free and real easy to use although you may find that you will have some tweeking to do on your harddrive.Check out Russ's toots on Audacity as they are extremely helpful. :)I am no pro but I have an electric/acoustic and I plug straight into the mic jack on my harddrive and record no problem. You draw your power from the harddrive. I also plug my keyboard into the same mic jack and have no problem.I will have to buy a special patchcord for this so I don't have to keep switching. $40 bucks in time. LoL
As for a mic I invested $45 and bought a NexTech so I could get good quality,I think. It works good enough for me and am not having any problems.
Excellent link from Roger also.
for advise
If you go with Audacity than make sure you download the LAME file found at the Audacity download site...this way you can export your tunes to other sites like MySpace.
If you plan on joining MySpace to post your songs then I suggest that you take the time to make sure you sign as an artist and NOT a regular member. To post music you have to sign as an artist.Myspace can be a confusing site to get set up in so take your time as you will have a 24-48 hour wait if you have to resign up due to an error.
I'm guessing I'm greener at this than you and I managed to find my way there with the help of my Chordie friends...No such thing as a stupid question
Hope this helps and am looking forwards to hearing your tunes. ![]()

Howdy spartan2471 and welcome to Chordie ![]()
Your song feels of sadness and desperation.Hopefully these are only written words that don't hold true to your inner most feelings. If they should be....than try and see the good things that life has to offer. ![]()
You should post this song and all your other songs in Chopro format. I've been there and it feels really good to see your written work posted in format for all to see.
If you don't know how to post Chopro than all you have to do is ask...You will find you will have many friends here at Chordie that can help you.:)
Nice writing

Hey nmontgomery ![]()
Excellent lyrics for a first post ![]()
I'm hearing a personal song written for a relationship with alcohol as the main problem . Hopefully this is not happening with you.
It would be cool if you could post the chord changes as it can help us at Chordie identify how you envision your song and how it should be played.
VERY NICE WRITING
I really enjoyed the reading and would like to hear how you intended it to be sung.
Thanks
