Well I personally think that if you play a right guitar and are left handed, you're better off than right handed people. The left hand needs the strength and dexterity!! the right can learn to pick easier I think.
That's just my opinion, and it makes sense...

Hello everyone...
Just this morning I discovered a problem on my acoustic guitar. The tuning pegs for A and D are beginning to crack. The two halves are beginning to crack off of the center. When I turn them, putting on stress, they look like they are in danger of cracking right off.
Anyway, I know I have to replace them, and I was thinking of replacing the whole six pegs.
My problem is, I know next to nothing, and I do want to replace them myself. I kinda want to learn more about that stuff, and I'd rather do it on mine than anyone elses. It's not the highest quality guitar.
Any tips? What kind I should buy, and whether it's a super complicated process?

Thanks

Ooh.... I love that band too. Do you want the chords for them? I'm sure you could find it on www.ultimateguitar.com

Wow.... that guy is incredible. I watched like all the movies of him I could find after that. He sounds like hes very experienced, but he's only sixteen!

Hey guys I know guitaardocphil just posted on performing but this is slightly different topic....

I'm a 14 yr old guitar player, mostly classical, and I have done some performing for church and our  homeschool group.... not really hard stuff but decent.... and I always find that though I'm not very nervous, I can never put the same feel and good dynamics and stuff into my playing when I'm on stage. I'd think it would be nervousness, but I'm not really nervous, just....you know.... how you feel when you are a kid and you're performing for lots of people. They are solo's by the way.

Any tips on how to get over this? I have a hard time, cuz I have no problem with putting lots of feel and stuff in my playing at home, but when i'm on stage it sounds very mechanical.

thanks

Am           G
Stumbling through
                   C
the mess I've made
            G
hidden beneath
                   Am             G
a makeshift charade
Am               G
And just how much
                    C
can this heart take
              G
Just how much
               Am
Before I break

Chorus:
Am           G
So here I am
                    Am
bloodstained hands
                 G
Nothing to show
                  Am
nowhere to go
                     G
I can see your face
                   Am
but still not clear
                       G
I can't seem to focus
                   Am
through my fears

My tears streaming down
Colour the ground
A strange shade of rainbow
the thought of free
somehow scares me
forgotten familiarity   yeah

CHORUS

Am
You reached for me
                  G
you took me in
                       Am
You opened my eyes
              C
and I realized
Am                       G
the answer to the mystery
        F
was standing there
     G
in front of me    Yeah

Guitar solo, than
this to the tune of the chorus

I can feel you  love closing in
I can feel your blood wash my sin
I can feel the awesome power flow
I can feel    and I can know

Am
You reached for me
                  G
you took me in
                       Am
You opened my eyes
              C
and I realized
Am                       G
the answer to the mystery
        F
Had finally come
     G
I was free

Any comments, critique, anything welcome. The one part I don't really like is the " Opened my eyes, and I realized" . it's kind of really cliche, if anybody has any other ideas for that part they are welcome to make them known.

Music today would be a whole lot better. Drugs ruined and killed many amazing guitar players..... I don't see how ppl could possibly ever think otherwise. Drug are STUPID!!!!

Ok some ppl will probably think this is a really weird topic to bring up but i'm really curious.....
Does anybody here besides me really like playing in the dark? Like totally dark? as long as you've memorized the piece....... smile
I feel like it takes away every distraction possible and it's just you and SOUND. It's  like there is nothing but the feel of the strings and SOUND. All around you, enveloping sound.  you lose your sense of vision, which feels real cool when you're playing.
Maybe it's just me, but I love to pull out my guitar, turn off the lights and play for like an hour.

PLay On!

awww man I still got till the end of june.... and I'm homeschooled....

Homeschooling Rocks!!

yup that's what i thought but how come everybody does is other way??

Ok maybe it's just me but I find tuning from the high E to the low E much easier when you're doing the 5th  fret technique. But for some reason I was always told to do it low to high.
any opinions? would you know why almost everybody does it low to high? I was told by my awesome teacher to do it high to low and it worked better. Easier.

Laura is hidden away in a gig bag in a cupboard though because the particular girlfriend it was named after cheated on me, can't even stand to look at that guitar now lol. Hence me buying the Epi Les Paul about 3 weeks after leaving her.

Erk,erk, erkerk, erk, erk, beeeeepppp(that's supposed to be an alarm) This is a cruelty to guitar violation! Get over the broad. No offense to our female members here on Chordie but girls are temporary, guitars are forever!

ok thanks so far for all the tips...

Pix what you said looks like knowledgeable advice but I don't quite get what you meant with the straight edge and the second fret......

I'm a bit of a rookie with this adjusting and such.... I'm only fourteen but I've changed my action a couple times and I liked what I did. and besides I'm not doing it on a really good guitar... nice but a bit cheap. just foolin around I need more experience.

do you mean bar on the fifth fret, or open with those three?

i tried em, they were ok, but I'd love a warmer richer sound, like mainecanoe..... do they got with that much playability and as long lasting but with better sound?

So next time I do an action adjustment I might try that..... any tips on how to remove, fix, and replace nut? never done it before.
