Hi neophyte. Getting to grips with the 12 string, but it sounds a little thin. I have some new (martin)strings to try, when I get round to re stringing. Thanks for asking.
glad to see you back and posting

congrats to you and your lovely other half. there'll be two bald guitar dudes in your home, for a while anyway till the little one sprouts hair? look forward to the pics in september
These days I get that on most songs. Since I retired I've put on a few pounds and most seem to have gone to my fingers. When I mess up during a gig I just say "I haven't practiced that for a while" which is probably true anyway. I like simple riffs like Smoke on the water or Don't stop believing.

Great story... I'm coming back as a dog, your dog that is.
Hi Scott, not many people outside here as it's been raining all day, horrible drizzley stuff. Last summer was so much better. I suppose we'll have to wait another 5 years for a summer that good.
Hi Grah, yes same here only no festivals mainly hotels and pubs. it's dirty work but someone has to do it? And those pint pots don't get any lighter...lol
The forums have been so quiet lately, weekends have been that way for quite a while. It's a shame that with all the members Chordie boasts, only a few can be bothered to come to the forums and chat unless they want something, eg how to do this, how to get rid of that, where can i find this or that song etc. I must admit that I've been guilty of not posting or beginning new discussions myself. For that I apologise. On the other hand I don't frequent Face book or any other sites of that nature so I do my venting here as it's great to help in any way or review original songs or poems. I am limited as far as the technical side of music or even computing is concerned, but I try.
Hi Scott. I thought I'd already replied to this, apparently not so here are my thoughts;
Beautifully written in an almost classical style. shows deep thought and an experience of life. I've read this piece several times now and all I can do is applaud your writing and talent. Well done.
Hi Jets, how did I miss this first time around? It is very cleverly written and so observant, reminds me of my childhood and the dogs we had back in the 50' s. I would also like to hear it when you have the time.

That's brilliant writing, Phill ... thanks for the grins & chuckles. You got me to thinking about other things which have to be used in pairs (gloves, shoes, ski poles, etc.) and how a missing one makes the other one pretty much useless. Glad you found your red-toed socks. Wear them with dignity, 'cuz they're probably the only socks on the planet that have a poem written about them.
This is true, my friend, unfortunately having found the sock it now appears to have a hole in the toe...do i feel another poem coming on? NO.
SKI POLES?
can you imagine turning up at a gig with your amp but no guitar? i've done that, what a nightmare that gig was.
Thanks guys, as I always say; when you think of something write it down. Finishing off is the hard part!
Hi Jim, good spot, very funny.
the bass looks like a Fender arm tacked onto a block of wood and a pick-up stuck on! What the round thing is I cant say or what use it is.
A true story....
The Prodigal Sock. Phill Williams.
I delved into my sock drawer.
Pulled out my favourite socks.
Red on toe and heel.
And grey up to the top.
I slipped them on my clean dry feet.
I'd just stepped from the shower.
All dressed and sprayed.
And shaved and clean.
Ready for.....whatever.
Several hours later.
Satisfied of thirst.
My socks removed and in the wash.
Then into bed I fell.
Waking up next morning.
Put all my clothes to dry.
Shirts and vests and underwear.
And socks but my-oh-my!
My favourite socks had lost a sock.
I search the washing drum.
I search the washing basket.
The search revealing....none!
Then there below the breakfast table.
A flash of red appeared.
My prodigal sock had revealed itself.
My relief was so sincere.
The moral of this story.
If it needed one.
Is; don't give up on what you love.
It's there, somewhere, no doubt.
I like this a lot, it shows optimism and you've found a new way to survive the rest of your life. This is the time I called my lost weekend when I was going through the "break up", it lasted a year and I vented my frustration with quite a few nice girls/ladies that deserved more than just me learning how to regain my self esteem, no violence mind you just misguided love. Your poem shows that too, so enjoy this time. The right one is there, I found my Ann and I'm certain you will find yours.
Hey we could be twins....?belly wise! Poetic licence, oh yes, I'd renew your license free of charge cos this is so true and well written. You guys down under are getting sooooo good
MESSAGE LEFT ON SOUNDCLOUD. HIC
Thursday 9th May, was Ann and my 38th anniversary, so I wanted to celebrate that with a poem which would describe my continued feelings for the love of my life, Ann. It's not very strict as far as metre is concerned and doesn't rhyme very well (or at all) but I thought it worthy of a place on Chordie. Hope all that read it like it.
Love Goes On. Phill Williams.
We've been together now for almost all of 40 years.
There is no doubt for all to see the love we share.
Soulmate is a word overused and falling short.
For others, not for us, it is plain how much we care.
You mean the world to me my love.
Without you I would be no more.
I'm amazed at how you've stood by me.
When most would simply go.
I know I've been a fool at times.
I know I've let you down.
But my heart is always in your hands.
So I'll always be around.
We argue and we disagree, not speaking for a day or two.
But always when the anger fades.
Hand in hand we walk the lanes.
Walk the lanes of summer love, whatever the season.
Small birds sing.
The breeze blows warm.
The sun shines bright.
And our love goes on.
Hi Bill. What non mods don't see are the websites and spam that may be in their signature which new members can't display due to programming, clever huh? What I do most mornings is scan through new posts and if I see suspicious names or senseless replies, I check the members out, follow their links etc and if they're innocent then that's okay, if not the banhammer falls. I think all the mods do the same. Sometimes we get it wrong and the member can apply to HE WHO MUST BE OBEYED to be re_instated. I hope this clears it up for you, my friend?
i bought a mountain bike about 15 years ago, but as a fair weather rider i only took it out on sunny summer days. i got it out of the shed last year to take a spin to find the gears had stuck and the back wheel was buckled....so after a quick ride round the block it went back to the shed where it will hibernate till i can be bothered to get it fixed.
as a consequence; i've put on a ton of weight and my belly has expanded to 8 months pregnant status!
i'd like to be at that garden fete where lennon and mccartney met, that's the where and the why
In medieval Wales musicians were celebrated, though I expect bad ones didn't fare so well! I was taught at school that North Wales had the poet's and the South boasted the singers. And so to unite the two halves of the country a wise and noble king came up with the now world famous Eisteddfod where only the best performed and gifts bestowed on the greatest. Choires, dancers, bards and performers of all kinds the world over now come to perform. I took part myself....when I was 10, don't tell anyone, I also performed in the Royal Albert Hall in London.
Legend also says that Merlin was a great bard and harpist, must have been a sideline?
What's annoying is that there are people with hereditary titles, chestfull of medals and honours and land gifted to them from the time of William the conqueror. The only thing they've done for the country or commonwealth is get fat on moneys, taxes and moving the jobs to countries where people can be exploited and paid a bowl of rice for a days hard work. And of course killing the earth with the pollution their dirty factories produce in the name of growth and profitability. The only retribution I guess is that they will choke to death just like us poor people.
End of rant.
the simplest songs are usually the best. Love the sound effects in the background...the dog barking...woof
But the most important aspect of this conversation is that retrospectrascope is a FANTASTIC word.
So very true, I meant to comment earlier on this fabulistic word.
You're right never heard it like that before. I listened to it on my tablet so I didn't get the full power of the bass and drums, so I'll listen again on my PC later? Thanks for that. what a way to wake up in the morning
