I have this silly little chord that I use in a song I wrote and I have no idea what it is can some one name it? You just take a normal D shape in move your middle finger off the F3 on the E string and put it on the F on the D string and don't play the low E or A strings. I have consulted the orical (Chordies chord chart), prayed to the Gods and danced around my amp with a flamming guitar and sacrified chicken and have still found no answers. If anyone knows please let me in on this ancient wisdom.

Just a little tune I came up with yesterday. I think a good bass line and some vocal harmonies might do it well.
Country??? Nothing wrong with that, but I felt it had Paul McCartney all orver it. Thats how me and my girlfriend and best friend played it. Sort of like an old early beatles tune. Loved it! Gonna play it some more just to spite you <img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_twisted.gif" border=0 alt="Twisted Evil">

I was looking back over all the posts that I missed from before I was I member and came accross this wonderfull little ditty. There are no chords so I wrote my own arrangement. If ZombiE is still with us, PLEASE post your chords for this great little rocker!!!! In the meantime I thought it was goood enough to rate a second look from everyone.

Violent Femmes, Simon & Garfunkle, Robert Johnson all do great accustic rock, folk, and blues.

Great social comment. Said some very strong things here. I agree it is like a double A side (for those who remember 45s) to The Planet. Really good and very playable.
My current temporary project band is called Laughing Joe's Medicinal Compound and Brew Company. It's acyually just me and a few mates who are recording a C.D. of all our different origionals. We all just bring in songs and teach them to eachother and then record them usualy all in one day.
Cool! I've got to check that out.

Played in a real choppy 4/4 on accoustic or electric with just a little dirty grit distortion. A little slide action over it may be nice but I can't play slide so I don't know.
Very good song!!!! As hippie as it gets! <img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_smile.gif" border=0 alt="Smile">
I work for the Mt. Vernon Register News and go to school at Kaskaskia College.
Hey bro,
Just thought of one. An accoustic version of "Something" by the Beatles. The chords are available here and very easy. You can hear it on Anthology 3. It's perfect for getting the girl and Frank Sinatra himself called it the best love song ever written.
I may be wrong but I believe that solo you referred to was done on an electric organ. You are right though it's a great song to play.
Austin electrics are very good and run about $200 new if you want a gibson type. I personaly like the Dan Electro guitars. They are around the same price and have a sound all there own. But all and all the best advice has allready been given, go bang around on them till you find your long lost friend.
I did drugs out of hopelessness and hope got me off of drugs. Drugs (pot,LSD,ect) helped me be more creative and think in a new way but I eventually became so detached from the world that I really couldn't function as a decent musician anymore. I'm glad I did it but I'm more glad I stopped.
I'm ingnorant and stuff...what is a tenor guitar? <img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_redface.gif" border=0 alt="Embarassed">
Bro,
any song can be played on any instrument. The notes are the same no matter what they are played on. What songs are you trying? Some songs are admittedly more appropriate for some instruments than for others. I'm interested cause i've thought of getting the same thing.
The most impressive thing you can do is compose one on your own. Nothing extravigant, just a verse and chorous, maybe two verses. Usualy the simpler the better. Check out the songwriting forum. These guys write realy good stuff and I really can't imagine any of them telling you not to use one of their songs.( except american chaos theory. He's a real ass but his songs suck anyway <img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_razz.gif" border=0 alt="Razz"> )
You should of course keep working on barre chords. If the way you hold it is harmming your playing(and your thumb) maybe you should change it before you are to set in your ways. In the meantime try some stuff you don't know. some classical fingerstyle stuff or explore different techniques for lead or get to know your electric, might end up being fairly good friends.
I always have my neck cocked to a more vertical about a 45 degree angle sitting or standing and that makes it easier for me and keep my axe at around waist level. Any lower and it looks cool but becomes very difficult.
Open E tunning is real easy for me to play slide with and I'm not a very good slider. James or Roger could probably help you more.

My friend gave me pretty much the same advice as you guys. He said a person who has played solely LP almost has to learn to play something els. We are trading guitars for a while since he hasn't played a les for quite some time and we'll see if I can get a feel for it cause I really don't want to keep myself in a box like that. btw my guitar idol Buddy Guy plays strat.
</td></tr></table>
As I said I gave it a truer trying. I ended up playing some pretty decent blues licks on it. It took a while to get to know the guitar but I think I understand about having to learn to play a strat. I'll probably never be a Fender guy, but I'm deffinatly a bit more open minded than when I posted my origional rant.
Has nobody listened to Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons???
I prefer a thick glass one to metal on my electric and a metal one one accustic. Thats just me many fine guitar playersdo it differently. Sometimes I can be caught useing a Bic lighter, beer can or bttle or even a drum stick. No rules in music! I think you should keep working at it and master barre chords. It's cool that you discovered a neat little techneque so hang on to and explore that too.
