Re: new free program (5 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
just got a welcome letter fromJamkazam, and as noted by amy you can not run skype with it due to band width. here is what they put in the letter.
1. You really need to connect your computer to your network with an Ethernet cable. Do not use WiFi. In our testing, we found that WiFi creates both latency and audio quality problems. It’s not a question of bandwidth. It’s a packet rate problem. Most network gear simply cannot keep up with the packet rate of this service using WiFi.
2. Don’t run other media-intensive apps on your computer or your home network while you are in a session. For example, if you run Skype at the same time as JamKazam on your computer, Skype will seriously degrade JamKazam audio performance. If someone in your home is streaming a Netflix movie, this has much less impact on your JamKazam session than another app like Skype running on your computer, but these other streaming services may have some impact on your session audio quality.
So to use this I would have to have my modem / router moved to the man room, OR run a long cable outside the house (and we all know earthernet cable is not cheep) to the man room. So I really dont see me using this now. but D! itwould ahve been so cool!

Well I hate to say it,, but My son won his arguement and we sold his DEAN Flying V.
He bought it when he was 10, saved his christmass and birthday money/gift certs from Musicians Friend and fell in love with it. I tried to talk him out of it due to the awkward sitting issues you have with any V, but he had to have it. I have mentioned this guitar on here before, yet, now that its gone, I miss it. It looked good next to the SG, It was a Michale Schinker retro copy black and white w/ the big bottle opener headstock, I changed out the bridge P/U and it was a very hot rocking guitar with great action and fun to play.
I think the new owner will get a lot out of the guitar. I saved the tale untill I knew if he was the newowner.
Two weeks ago I was in the big Pawn shop about 5 blocks from my house. As I was there buying my zip ties, Inoticed two young guys looking at all the guitars up on the high shelf and the ones behind the jewelry counter. So I approched them and said I noticed them checking out all the guitars, and if they cared to walk about 5 blocks I had a prime flying V they could test. I knew that once I got it in the hands of an eager rocker, it would sell it's self. They said sure, and followed me to the house (This was a matter of agitation for my wife due to one of them still being in High school and she did not want any of the kids knowing where she lived, to me this was "funny" because all anone needs to do is drive by and see her big orange Crosstrek in the front of the house) I showed them to the man room, plugged in and let the Ax start talking, and handed it to the boy. I could tell the min it hung into his hands it was only a matter of time. I told him 180 cash. 2 weeks later he called and asked could he come over and get it.
He is happy, my 13 yr old is happy, Dad is not real plaeased, but its not my guitar.
I just needed to vent, lolol, I really liked that guitar!

Ok, fine, call me lame this is the first chance for me to write my view of ChordistockII.
I flew into FL after a 2 hour delay in Birmingham. During that time period I made myself comfy in the bar for 2 beers and the nice lady gave me one to go in a soda cup. While I waited at the gate I had a conversation with a nice lady who was somehow in the music bizz where ever she was from.
Landed and after a few arguments with the rental car place (never using advantage again) ended up at my friend Carrie’s about 3:30. We hung out had dinner and a little later we made it over to Jeff’s. I got to say, When Derek came walking around the pool house to let us in, it was like greeting your best friend that you have known your whole life. We both started smiling and a bear hug later I felt the same way as I met Jeff, Amy and Robert for the first time. We had about 2 hours of playing and I tried to keep up with the ramped up version of Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald and had a great time playing it with Jeff. At about midnight Jeff told us we needed to head out to keep the old ppl happy, so we all squeezed into Jeff’s condo for a little bit.
Saturday, well I will for the record say, I am sorry I missed the bulk of the afternoon. I was trying to spend equal time with Carrie as I had not seen her since high school. I made it to Jeff’s at 9:00 PM ( much later than I had planned). Walking into that room full of great people I was enthusiastically greeted and told “Glad you made it- your next!” Really? I thought. Tony, Brad, Steve and Wyatt had just finished a really kick butt improve. How do I follow that? Says I. So I sat down cold and proceeded to destroy Don’t go away mad by Motley Crue. It was really bad. I did redeem myself with a couple of my originals on Jeff’s 12 string Alvarez. Brad gave me some thumbs up for jamming out my stuff on the 12er, Thanks man! I was so pumped up meeting Dirty Ed and Wayne. I couldn’t take in all the cool vibes at one time and sorta just rode the wave with a big grin on my face.
Sunday, well once again I was the last guy there, but only by 2 hours so its all good! I have to echo everyone else about how cool the London Bus Pub is. I would defiantly have a stool with my name carved on it if I lived around there. Everyone else has noted how full the circle was and I got to meet Rosco.I did miss some of Waynes songs, I did get to hear Ken and his wife sing together which was great. Everyone tells me I did one heck of a great song when I did my best original. All I know is I was so hyper-focused on not screwing up and trying to sing that I hardly heard everyone else playing. At one point I tried to listen and about lost my place. All I know is when I finished the others were still jamming my song and I heard a bunch of clapping. As I said on FB. THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO HELPED ME TO SOUND THE BEST I EVER HAVE!
Next time, 100% will be geared to being at the whole event! Then I can have some just relaxed conversation with everyone.

Pawn shops will try to go for Ebay pricing also, not actual value. THe web has changed the way they will deal, and they dont want to come down that much. One shop here has a DEAN ML (dimebag edition) thats been on the shelf for 3+ yrs cause they want 350+ for it thinking they have a block of gold since it says DimeBag on it. not. Its a bolt on kneck China made one. So look out for things like JX3 said.

You sound like you found chordie at the right time. As other have mentioned, you are where y ou need to be. I will +1 on what Zurf has said. Playing with ppl is probably the best motivator and learning tool ever.
Definatly look for the skype invites. loads of fun from your own room. As to the barr chords, I am one of the few fdew h\who started o an electric and learned my barr chords at the same time as my open chords . Heavy Rock is built on power chords and they can be very pretty acoustically also.
just keep it up.

I got the title idea from Easy Beat, but I went another direction with it.
I dont have music yet, but Im thinking Arlo Guthrie style. like Alice's Restraunt or the motorcycle song.
Money talks
Bull shit walks
Aint that the name of the game?
I don’t know about you
But as I see it, mine walks,
Before it can say a thing.
I think I’d like it,
If it would stick around.
Maybe hear what it has to say.
I bet it could tell me a thing or two
Maybe even three,
Tell me what to do and who to see.
Show me a few secrets
The ones we never knew,
Maybe if Im lucky, I can afford fondue.
Money talks
Bull shit walks
Aint that the name of the game?
Money talks
Bull shit walks
And they both walked out on me.
