Bill- I had the same question about the fret thing !

I loved the comment down below:

non - guitar player - " man , I gotta start playing guitar"

guitar player - "I might as well stop playing guitar"

smile
Thanks for sharing

Good Luck Bill

Sorry Graham

'm sure it was much more than the just the music.
Thee never are words for such events other than may care and love of those around you provide comfort and peace to get you through the days ahead. I wish you better days

Jim

The last one i wrote I was sitting in a restaurant.

Like Phill- I will see or hear something and say to myself that has the makings of a song.
I have all sorts of notes to myself on my phone.

As you know - most of my stuff revolves around emotions and life's happenstances.
I agree with Peatle - trying to write a song - ir really difficult and usually sub par or downright crappy.

Lastly - as Phill said - sometimes i just get a hord progression going from sitting on my porch and just relaxing - and some line pops in my head - and it just grows from there.
I suppose if I could actually sing or play well it would be a lot easier.

Great topic  Bill

Peatle and Bill

Great find. Excellent music.
McKinley story is a sad one ... the injury from the gunshot was so unfortunate as it not only went through stomach - it hit liver , pancreas and actually was never located.
McKinley also had a heart problem and was way overweight.  It was the gangreneous infection and other complications that eventually killed him. Thomas Edison the great inventor had sent an x ray machine - but some how a part was missing and it was useless.

I encourage everyone to listen to the song by Steve and Ainsley -  posted on their site  www.apiranamusic.com that Peatle provided - called       All The Lights -        It is excellent - but I gotta say _ JAN YOU SOUND JUST LIKE HER --  that's why I keep telling you you need to get in a studio! smile

Thanks to Bill and Peatle for this great thread

Roger
Glad u are recovering great

I got a splinter about 5 years ago in my finger - pulled out no problem. Then my finger swelled .  Found out that it wasn't the splinter, but a reaction the chemical residue that was left  from the treated lumber.
I like you - now wear gloves!

Thank you all for you kind words .

Beamer - no ,  thankfully my wife and I just celebrated our 35th anniversary
Like Phill said there have been arguments and times where it was hard, but we always find a way to mend .
I actually wrote this after reading all your great posts, but I couldn't bring myself to comment- so I wrote about what I was reading, at least how I was interpreting it.

Bill- you crack me up - you have such wit!

Thanks again all

   Lost love Jim Kenyon

[Em]I’m walking the roads I [A]know many men have gone [Em]down [Em]

[Em]I'm in a sea of confusion and it [A]looks like I might [Em]drown[Em]

[A]my mind’s still yearning, but myheart is burning like [Em]Rome [Em]

And [B7] now it seems I’m so [A] lost, with no direction [Em] home

Chorus

[A]vacant eyes and empty hearts

[E] though I can't say who's to blame

[A] with bitterness slowly creeping in,

ain't [B7] nothing ever gonna feel the same

[A]we've lost the hunger in our souls

[E]and all our blessings have had a cost

[A]with tempers hot and sheets so cold

[B7]it sure looks like this [A]love is [E] lost

[Em]old footprints everywhere in my[A] head and all around our [Em]home,[Em]

[Em]each one with a memory, re[A]sembling tarnished [Em]chrome[Em]

[A] goods times are gone, and they ain't coming round[Em]again[Em]

those[B7] years of comfort and [A] love have turned into[E] pain

Chorus

[A]vacant eyes and empty hearts

[E] though I can't say who's to blame

[A] with bitterness slowly creeping in,

ain't [B7] nothing ever gonna feel the same

[A]we've lost the hunger in our souls

[E]and all our blessings have had a cost

[A]with tempers hot and sheets so cold

[B7]it sure looks like this [A]love is [E] lost

[Em]pleasures of the night have faded,[A]our tender moments are [Em] gone[Em]

[Em] love got lost between the [A] darkness and the[Em] dawn.[Em]

[A] those goodbyes with cryin’ eyes, havemade my heart so [Em]sad [Em]

Oh[B7] come find me baby, and [A]remind me of what we once[E] had

Chorus

Chorus

[A]vacant eyes and empty hearts

[E] though I can't say who's to blame

ain't [B7] nothing ever gonna feel the same

Thanks Ctech

It is a song that I feel gets at the heart of a really serious problem here in the USA.
The current issue with opioids is out of control.
I'm still waiting for Graham or someone to do an updated version including the new verse shown above.

I'm just not a good enough player or singer to this song justice.

Thanks for the positive feed back, I appreciate it

I thought he was awesome.

Bill's post  "Odds Bodkins*, Man! You've Been 'At Odds' With Yourself!"  contained this----

" Dondra has given this a name: she call's it Bill's need for "Soul Stability" (that should be a clue for a certain songwriter we all know and love here on chordie - a good working song title I mean)."

I told Bill I thought it was a really cool phrase - and I thought it would make for a good song---   so taking into light some of the things Bill has shared.... I wrote this song.

(Bill If you don't like it - just say so and I will immediately take it down.)

anyways- here it is:  I play with a capo on 3rd fret

Soul Stability   Jim Kenyon

[Em]Oh there’s something missing, there’s something wrong

I feel so out of place, like I don’t belong

[Am]Don’t what it is, can’t figure it out

[Em]I need some answers to remove my doubts

[B7] I’m just searching for tranquility

And I [C7] sure could use some [B7]soul stabili[Em]ty

[Em]Oh I’ve got a weary heart and tired mind

As problems rise,   joys get left behind

[Am]When everyday is filled with faithless shadows

[Em]It’s hard to see many bright tomorrows

[B7]I know there’s a strong possibility

That I’m in [C7]need of some [B7]soul stabili[Em]ty

[Em] [A] [Em]

Chorus:

[Am] How I wish that I could turn back time

Back when [Em]everything in my world was fine

I've [Am]got lots of excuses for what I lack

but [B7]time marches onward,it [C7]never,[B7]ever comes [EM] back

[Em] [A] [Em]

..

...

[Em] Oh baby I need you right here with me

You;re the only one who knows what I need

[Am]You calm my nerves and soothe my soul

[Em]You take my hand when I lose control

It’s [B7] time to face the reality

Baby [C7]I need your [B7]soul stabili[Em]ty

Chorus:

[Am] How I wish that I could turn back time

Back when [Em]everything in my world was fine

I've [Am]got lots of excuses for what I lack

but [B7]time marches onward,it [C7]never,[B7]ever comes [EM] back

[Em] [A] [Em]

yea, [B7]time marches onward, it [C7]never,[B7]ever comes [EM] back

Play slowly - [B7]time marches onward, it [C7]never,[B7]ever comes [EM] back

[Em] [A] [Em]

Jgreen

Thanks for the compliment -  all the top wood is Cherry  Walnut is middle - I used it to look like a band around.  It has  great tone. I picked the cherry bc I liked the the litlle grain waves and the worm holes.

I lined all the cavities with copper tape - it takes away all the buzz. - it sounds so smooth

Topdown and Roger  - TY  it screams for someone who can really play to give it a go - it has a beautiful sound to it.

Bill- trust me- there are a lot of things I don't do well - i.e..    haven't you heard me sing ?   smile   If you need a list - contact my wife - she could give you plenty of examples! smile
(P.S. - I haven't forgotten the songs I have promised you - I have some stuff down already -  I've just been overwhelmed at moment with a million things going on)

Phill and Bill  - TY   it was quite a project.  I am so happy I didn't screw it up...  The neck angle was quite difficult - and the cavities for the pic ups also had to match that angle  ( 4.5 degrees)

Ed - Thanks for the comment  it was strenuous but fun building it.

As you can probably tell - I love to imagine things - and then create them

Thank you to all the chordians for your encouragement.
This place is the greatest !

I was not comfortable after all the work I had put into it to try to put a binding on it.  I thought the cherry top sufficed as the bing look.  smile

Bill - I wouldn't have a clue about a price.   I really have built these last two guitars ( Strat and LP) as kind of a long term plan - I am hoping my grandkids will someday be playing them and think of good ol' "Pop" when they do.

Thank you so much all of you -

Jim
