yep Toney, yer right freedom of speech is a wonderful thing but I also believe knowing when to keep quiet is also good, even though i have not mastered this yet lol

if people are face to face they can have a better debate, things can be agreed to disagree quicker but online it can go on for months. During these months the folk involoved start thinking about it during the day and start thinking of things to answer back with. When the other person reads this reply they get more irate and think of what to type next. Because folk are typing behind a screen the other cannot see facial expression, which mean a lot in a debate/argument/disscussion.
Something so simply can get taken very much the wrong way and when the other tries to explain, it looks like they are wrong even though they maybe right.

I dont even know if that makes much sense but i know what iu am thinking

do we really have to argue over this?

is there an arguement brewing?

was there one about to start?
was there the potential for one?

nope but i know that Flea from the red hot chili peppers used to put super glue onto his finger tips as they got holes in them from the bass playing he done.

as for iodine? i would rather just practice more and toughen those tips up naturally.

why not ask your questions in the appropraite section?
Could you not see all those other sections in the forum?
Could you not read them to see where the appropraite place was to place a question?

pfffft some folkies just dont take the tiny wee bit of effort.

I hope one of the Mods move this very soon before I go mental and reinstate myself as a god of all forums and rant off on one again for a few months.

I am lol
Or I would like to be as comunism doesnt work lol next best thing really I think.

Zurf, I can talk for all the UK and Southern Ireland lol lol  whether they like it or not.

Folk with or without families that get NHS care still spend their last few days/hours etc in pain due to costs.
Because NHS is free care it is not always the best care. There has been a lot of documented cases where the NHS have said no to certain drugs because of the cost.
So really they are saying their life is not wirht as much as money.
I can see their point too though. Lots of folk want the expensive drugs to prolong their life for a few more months or years but in the end they will go and they money could be used elsewhere.
In my opinion ( and I speak for the world here, not just the UK and Ireland lol )
If there was £500 left in the NHS fund I would rather it got spent on a child to be cured  rather than someone over 50 prolonging their life for a few more months. But when you are in a situation like this you want it all.
Money should never come into it for health care no matter the illness, no matter how long it will last, but it does.
And i am on a ramble here, I just cannot stop my fingers going here.

I dont know how I would have coped if I had to pay for care if I were in the U.S. Would I have paid for minor things like getting cysts cuts out, getting my jaw fixed, dental care when I was in no pain, my nose job to breath better through it. Would I have went to the docs with a chest pain that went away ?
vasectomy is also free! I bet the catholic church hate that idea ,lol. But this also is a demonstration of wasted money. To go private it only costs about £150 ( so I am told) So what does a guy want? spend £150 on the snip or pay £100,000's on  bringing up a child?
If someone doesnt want a child that much then £150 is a very small amount to pay to get knackered yet so many of these Ops get done free of charge.

I really think now we in the UK take this NHS far too much for granted. Apart from my jaw which I really needed done I dont think I would have bothered with anything else if I had to pay for it. I would even have paid for my jaw to be fixed.

try asking in " song requests" section,
thats where folk usually ask for help on songs

my thoughts are the same as Arks.
if yuo ask in a different thread. as in create a new thread to ask your question instead of highjacking a thread you are bound to get an answer. I will not even answer this question as this thread is about passwords

I will pressume you are not stupid or dense so please dont highjack threads.
It was probably a mistake so I will forgive you this time, not that it is my place to forgive anyone, I just like going off on one when i see highjacked posts. lol lol lol

how many sections have you asked in? we all read the same sections so does this mean we all have to read your request several times? sad

MODS, C'mon sort this out. I see repeated posts all over the place in different sections.

hi ckphoto

Dont listen to them, rivalry is rife in here, we argue on a daily basis, we even exchange phone numbers so we can shout down the phone at each other. I hate so many in here

ONly joking, I dont hate anyone here at all, a good crowd, a good helpful crowd, a good cheerful ( mostly) crowd, a good informative corwd, a good.......ye get the picture?

Welcome

Ken

thats a good story. I wonder if Dylan thought he was getting out of touch with the younger generation.

This story reminds me of another case of not knowing who someone was.

The band "Wet Wet Wet" that had hits like sweet little mystery, julia says, love is all around and many more, they come from Clydebank where I was born and bred and raised.
They were trying to get in a club above the Cameron House pub in Hardgate around the first time of their first single. the Bouncer at the door was refusing them entry. I think because there was a small crowd of them, the 4 members of the band and a few roadies. Marti Pellow the lead singer said to the bouncer
" Do you know who we are? we are Wet Wet Wet"
The bouncer replied " I dont care if yer soaky soaky soaky, yer not getting in"

yep that looks nice.

Welcome to chordie.
My advice is start playing it when you get it, dont give up, when your fingers get really sore give them a rest, learn your scales, and any other advice you want just ask here or another rellevant section of chordie.

the reason you cannot go public is because if it says " the beatles"  "helter Skelter" and someone goes in and it has  Blah blah blah by joe blogs, then it is very wrong as it would still have the beatles as the name of the band and I think the name of the song. So it would be a copyright sort of issue.

So you really got to keep these things always in a private book. If accidentally it went live and it was found out it may result in that entire book being scrapped from chordie so the songs that are public are protected someway.

To be sure it doesnt accidentally go public you could create a new songbook and never make it live and keep it for songs like this.
But you would have to remember the names you have your song under as it will show as the original all the time.

Hope that helps clear things up if they were not already, lol. I never read everything in here.

if you do get one or anyone else, you will have to be patient for a while until it settles. I was forever tuning and retuning for a week or so.

I play the guitar, but fancy trying the uke. What type/make should I start with & what should I spend for a decent one? Am in the UK.

Hi Norm

I bought a Uke a few years ago for the same reason. I just felt like trying it.

I love my Uke. I bought it from E bay for £12. Not too dear but it was something to start with. I now want a better one but the one I have is still good enough to play and to learn on.

go for it and ignore anyone that laughs at it or says it is a toy. I have had loads of comments like that but I am good at ignoring the negativity surrounding the Uke, if ye like it, ye like it if you dont, you dont.

folk scene ?

Is this the sort of new folk sort of music like Ami MacDonald etc. she gets classed as folk but I do not see her stuff as folk at all.
Maybe this sort of stuff is getting classed as folk but not in my eyes.
This is not to say they are bad. I quite like Ami's songs, not a big fan but I would not bring her down either.

If I remember tonight I will look out for a few samples of them.

voca,
calm down man ,lol.

I would say to let someone else see it other than the shop that sold you it to get their advice.

All guitars are different and it maybe that all the strings are the same level off the fretboard like the shop said but get second advice.

If it was the strings originally bought with it do not think that they are all correct. I went in a shop once and they had a different guage string for the G or the D string. I cannot remember what it was but somthing along the lines of all the strings were light gauge apart from the D which was heavy gauge.
This might be the case on your guitar. maybe not just a possibility to why it does not feel right

you could try buying a new set and see how they feel.

I honestly culd not say when I changed from learning to " I can play". Maybe I consider to be stil learning? Or it just happened gradually.
I have only said a few times to someone " yeah I can play guitar".
Most times it is " I strum a bit"

Sorry for seeming grumpy lol but I can be, just ask my wife.

a few that you replied to I have not seen on here for months upon months perhaps even a year so dont expect replies from everyone you have quoted.

But like you say folk are replying so I guess it stil makes the thread intersting to some.
I just like reading all posts and if I had t oread back to what was said a year ago or over a year ago i think geezo I read this before.

open away if you feel the need. sorry for my grumpiness
