Thanks Peatle!
Jim- love to hear your version!
Bill
Thanks for the tips and advice!
changed to sweetest -
changed chorus to include "ya know"
another change I made was to the 3rd verse -
I switched in [G] She’s funny, she’s sexy, and occasionally wild
to replace
She's funny, she's wild, and sexy to
I left the "barely even tries" however because I like the way it sounds even if it is improper English,
and maybe this guy does have a little negative feeling towards her since everything he does gets him nowhere- think of how that poor cockatiel was feeling !

Hopefully some will make a cover of it , I think it would be a riot to merge that video with this song.
one last thing... sine Gibson is close to going under I figured I better hold onto my USA Gibson a while!
Thanks again
Jim
awesome - Thank you Per and also to all the chordie moderators - you do a great job!

Sorry about bad singing and playing..... the cockatiel could probably do better !
but I think it's a cool little song
DIRTY ED - You get the all the credit for the inspiration !!
THANKS
Jim
UJB
Thanks !
Writing just seems easy sometimes.. if it becomes hard I just stop because I know it's forced and likely will be crappy.
I sure wish I could play and sing though - it would make it so much more enjoyable.

I guess great minds think alike.
I put my crappy version on soundcloud........ I'll put it under a different post.
I am 100% positive you're version will be great.
or put'em together and make a hybrid.
Love to hear you play it if you have the inkling sometime.
JIm
OK - so Dirty Ed put up a post entitled - Some girls are hard to impress.
As soon as I read the title of that post I said to myself......" hmmm that's a darn good title for a song "
As it turned out other's agreed with me... but alas... it was only a very funny
video of a male bird trying to impress a female to no avail.
So anyways.... that title has been sitting on my mind ever since... and this morning when I woke up I was just strumming my guitar when this line popped into my head... and it fit the chords I was playing. One thing led to another and before you know it... I wrote this song. Hope you like it.
Bill
Thanks for the video
I built a strat earlier this year.( I posted pics here somewhere on chordie) It took me 4 months.
There is so much that goes into building a guitar - must be much harder to build an acoustic or classical guitar.
I was really impressed with the info on the finish. I used lacquer. I also wish I had their buffer ! ![]()

Badeye
That was a super find!
What a talent!
He owns the guitar - uses every part - love the way he plays down the neck above where he is fretting
He has a golden voice. The guitar sound was absolutely captivating.
I am a big fan of Justin Towns Earle - and the fingerstyle he plays is a virtual copy cat of the way Lightning played.
Lightning was voted as one of the top 100 guitarists of all times. - His guitars are in the Rock hall of fame in Cleveland.
Thanks for sharing

First of all - Congratulations on having wonderful Grandparents in Bill and Dondra!
and of course super CONGRATULATIONS upon your graduation.
Even though we here on Chordie will miss seeing you in your cap and gown, we would never miss this chance to tell you we’re proud of you as well.
It took a lot of hard work to reach this goal. You had to show up every day, whether you felt like it or not. I hope you feel great about what you’ve accomplished, and I hope you’ll continue to be a person who shows up day in and day out for those things that are worthwhile and important in life ( including playing guitar !)
Your graduation day is a proud day for you and a dream come true for your family as well I am sure.
It’s a beautiful thing, watching someone you’ve always loved growing up and getting one step closer to their dreams - so undoubtedly, this is a wonderful day for you and those that have had that pleasure ( a.k.a. - Granpa Bill and Grandma Dondra).
As far as learning guitar Julian - remember this.......
Music is like a time machine - it can take you back to favorite moments of the past, it can move you forward into new experiences, and it can soothe the soul of the present like nothing else can .
Congratulations today on your graduation and best wishes for all your tomorrows !
I am sure your Dad will be looking down and be bursting with with Angel Pride when you walk that stage to get that diploma!
Enjoy the Day with your loving Grandparents!
Jim
That was funny!
I thought it also would be a great title for a song
So great that you two can enjoy playing music together. There comes a point when the son surpasses the father and we start to feel our age. My oldest was about 16 when he first pinned me in a wrestling match, and my youngest was about the same age when he crossed me over (basketball) in the driveway ... down I went laughing my head off. I know you really cherish these moments you can spend together ... they fly by so quickly.
Yup
That's pretty much the crux of that song I wrote called "Moments "....
the chorus went
Oh those[Am] moments in [G]time, they just go [F]by so damn [C]fast
So [Am] hard to hold[G] onto , so [ F] hard to make them [C] last
Just [Am]keep them safe in[C]side your heart, and [F] cherish every [C]one
And [F]Live and love , all your [G] moments in the[C] sun
[F]Live and love , all your [G] moments in the[C] sun
it's posted somewhere here on chordie.
TF - seems like only yesterday - on a whole lot of stuff - but at least the memories never fade
Beamer- enjoy every second with your son !
Jim
when i built my strat - i used copper foil inside - no buzz or noise at all - worked great
I was impressed and it was easy to do
Thanks Phill
Sorry to hear your under the weather - probably caused by al lthe Royalty stuff going on this past month (just kidding)
- Have to admit - wedding was pretty impressive though of the small bit I watched.
I liked this song bc it could apply to someone that is getting a second chance, a first timer, a young love or just about anyone who has found that special person.
I knew when I found my wife - after years of bachelorhood - it was really quick - I knew she was it. We are on year 35 this year- and still very much in love.
Thanks for giving it a look - I appreciate the kind words - they mean a lot coming from you.
My best wishes to Ann and your fam -
Get well
Jim
That would be great
Thanks
That was GREAT ! Thanks for sharing it.
1978 - I was probably out my mind somewhere I think
I am sure I was a bunch of my college buddies doing stupid stuff!
Here is my song - sorry about the singing and playing
It's just a country style song - hope you like it
Maybe someone on here could cover it if they like it - pretty simple chords
Thank you for your kind words Jan !
I really love this song - just a simple love ballad - I wrote it so that it can be a guy or girl singing.
Hopefully everyone here on Chordie has that someone special that it would apply to.
I'll try today to get a recording of it on soundcloud.
Thanks again for taking the time to give it a look.
Jim
Work boots, no socks, 5 gallon pail, $100 guitar
music that is as golden as his smile - million dollar performance.
What a player !
I would have loved to be able to sit with him and on a different pail and just be amazed.
Look up cool on Google - it will probably lead you right to this video!
Badeye - this is one of the best you have put out there man, thanks for sharing!!
WOW !
Jim
Congrats - looks pretty cool !

In our school in rural upstate New York, vocal and instrumental are required up til grade 6, then it becomes optional. Mot kids in our school continue. Our Band is one of the best in Central NY state. Our vocal is almost as good, they put performances on each year that are remarkable and generally rock the house. We had a quartet this year that did an acapela of the National Anthem - it was fantastic - they were invited to sing at many, many places including the League and Sectional Basketball Championships ( Standing ovations at both) We also have Jazz band, marching band and Jazz Chorus. The school also has an Apple recording studio students can use = tons of Apple computers loaded with music programs and apps - kids are in there all the time. I would also point out that our school is a small K-12 school with 3 60 students total - we are graduating 26 Seniors this year! ![]()
the music curriculum is very important to our school and to our community.
Good topic brother!
My best to you and Dondra!

Traveling light was really cool - liked it a lot. I had never heard of that song - your superb performance as usual!
Neo - One of my fave songs of all time-- you did it very nicely ! You are so calm and relaxed when you play - i wish I could be as such - I always get so nervous when I record or play in front of someone.
Thanks for sharing guys - very well done.
Jim
here is the link to this song in songbook version in case you want to transpose to different key
