When playing guitar, let's say as professional, like some groups U2, REM, Foo Fighters, playing in a lot of countries. Even if it sounds stupid, I am interested in NATIONAL food. I was inspired by these groups, because of a wonderful contact with some members, having a lot of fun, backstage with Dave Grohl, and the other Foo Fighters. We talked about food in all different countries, but only now I was very interested in "national dishes"
This is for Upyerkilt, and fellow Scott's: what about HAGGIS, is it as popular as they say?
In BELGIUM: a big national dish is Mussels with French fries (in fact, these fries originated here and not in France) also STEAK with French Fries, and a kind of STEW too, with Brussels sprouts.
What is a national dish in the USA?, it depends maybe from State to State, you can't compare New Orleans-Louisiana with Ohio.
I was 4 years ago, in CHICAGO: Charlie Trotters, and Louisiana, very close to French Food. For me going to a restaurant, it is a must that I eat food, that people can't prepare at home.
What about PIZZA? Watching a movie here, everybody seems to eat "pizza" in the USA.
I am really fascinated to know more about "the national food, or dishes"
It would be nice to hear about what you all have to tell.

I was convinced too, that it started with the Pilgrim fathers. I also think that at first a lot of people came from the Netherlands. Also the French people, before the "LOUISIANA purchase, had control on a lot of States contained all of present-day Arkansas, Missouri, Iowa, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, Minnesota south of Mississippi River, much of North Dakota, nearly all of South Dakota, northeastern New Mexico, northern Texas, the portions of Montana, Wyoming, and Colorado east of the Continental Divide, and Louisiana on both sides of the Mississippi River, including the city of New Orleans. It was amazing to find this, I was convinced that it was only LOUISIANA.
If you see the Spanish "States", they had a big piece of the cake too. I am obsessed by history.
About Turkey, here is the tradition to eat it (stuffed) on Christmas Eve. But the origin of the word Turkey is it related with the country? I eat turkey in turkey sounds nice.

Dear KILT, I love your nick, I am living as you know in Belgium, here you can say soccer = sucker.
We have great players, but they are "doomed".
About football, trainers, they have 2 years a big success, and suddenly, even with all players supporting him, they fire the coach, in stead of firing the team. I am not really following football, not meaning that I am not interested. At this moment we love tennis more than ever, having one of the best female player JUSTINE HENIN. She is breaking record after record, like she has now the record of having earned the greatest sum (price money) ever in 1 season. AND SHE IS FREE!!!! Should I give it a try? I hope the SCOTTISH win this (score 2-1).

Well dear Snowdon, I insisted to know what this was. Now I know, it was not a crime to ask more, and yes, I admit that I just went on that site, having a lot of "stuff". Can you compare this with sites like youtube, myspace?
And yes we did find that page, but we didn't probably something wrong, better, just followed the site and not the link. So I go back and see, it was just confusing.

I think I've heard about that man

Where did they find names, like this. Like some place names what is the historical value? The founders of a city seems to have a very nice imagination.
Do Canadians beat the USA with funny place names?
One of my favourites is that village called FUCKING in AUSTRIA. They speak German in Austria, but that German is more and more different.
A remarkable situation: I noticed that IDENTICAL languages, like CANADIAN FRENCH versus FRENCH in FRANCE are so different. Even here, BELGIUM, you have 60% Dutch versus 40% French, and our Dutch, compared to Dutch in the Netherlands, has changed a lot only the last 30 years. In a lot of languages an existing word in the USA can be totally different than the same word in the UK.

- acoustic
- electric
Personal list, and I know there is a topic about BIG BRANDS, and that cheaper brands are often as good as big names.
If their price is high, Gibson, Fender, PRS, MARTIN, TAYLOR don't forget that 90% of the population have no idea what brand is guitar is used, (I try always to see their guitars). They just like to hear music.
list:
I WOULD LIKE TO PLAY ON A GRETSCH PENGUIN. THIS IS MY DREAM.
BETWEEN DREAM and REALITY, I have some fantastic guitars FENDER STRAT 64, in reality, the guitar sounds nice BUT for the price you can get a reissue or relic.
PRS custom 24 (FAVOURITE ALSO THE COLLECTION START) + MARTIN ACOUSTICS.
ACOUSTIC: DREAM COLLINGS, TAYLOR

Very nice story, and do you know that AXeL is an existing name, an official one, coming from Alexander. It is true that story, I checked it and found it on the web. Just google The most expensive albums, and there where quit a lot items about this album. I was only looking for prices of an original vinyl album, because when I bought this house, the owner, moved to the see, I saw him a lot (he had an alcohol problem) and suddenly he asked if I wanted his album collection.
I paid him about 1$ for each album, and so I have first issues, from Stones, Kinks, Who.
I need to put them on CD.

I SUGGEST TO GO TO MY TOPIC.
I wrote a lot about what can happen by playing to long.
And about 1/2 hour practising, let's say maximum; 1 hour BUT, like always, the more you work, the more skills you get. I am comparing this with the medical world, there is fenomenal big difference between studies (here it takes 7 years) and practising. YOU ARE ALONE, because you can't afford it to work with 3-4 medical docs. Here in Belgium: the so called "collegiality"is far from what it means.Doctors are all selfish, and if you are successful they throw with mud. I certainly walked in the narrow lines, people often called me Rock Doc, I took my time,... I worked more than 14 hours everyday, even after my car crash: I HAD TO STOP, because I was exhausted.
If you feel good 100%: go for it, the only condition: "listen to your body". Like starting guitar players can have some nasty problems, just 1 example, the tips of your fingers. I have seen players with, this extreme, blisters on the tops of the fingers. I suggest you to start about 30 minutes, and you see what I mean, fingertips are painful, that goes away, but DO NOT TRESPASS the PAIN LIMIT, and it sounds maybe crazy, sit and play. I can' play anymore standing there on stage, I have to sit. Just try a GIBSON LES PAUL and you will feel what I mean

Yes boxer, I am glad you can laugh. But as told, you do see a lot of covers on both sites.
And finally, where is the line between legal and illegal, if I cover an existing song, or better some one else, and I did see many times that the cover is very popular, and if I am not wrong, can people download it.
I am convinced that copyrights are different in different countries. I think here, they last for 70 years, and what happens, the Netherlands are now using songs from the 30ies (about that I am not 100% sure, I read it somewhere). And even worse, when can you speak about violation of copyrights? I believe here, you can "sample" a piece if the time is less than 15 seconds.

I really don't get it what you write, is it possible to give me more info, about this?
I don't really know if this is a chordie problem, that is the reason of asking, I went on www.esnipe.com, and I really don't see a reason why this is written here.
That's all
Just explain it what you want us to understand

I do agree but only for 25%. I have been in the GIBSON plant in Memphis, I saw the production process of hollow bodies. About quality: YES, they want to put on the market only the best. It looks a lot on throwing away money, because they "destroy" 25% of these guitars. I was a little bit angry when I heard about this, because they can bring them on the market, as a lot cheaper model, like B-GIBSON. I just know that you will find real good guitars, other brands in stead of the Holy Trinity GIBSON, FENDER, PRS. Gibson does have low(er) budget guitars, not using lacquer like a Gibson SG Faded. I compare these guitars with a car: BMW, MERCEDES, LEXUS, they are expensive too, it is maybe a stupid fact to compare a Gibson with a Mercedes, but they have one thing in common, producing a very good product. I have a lot of guitars, and I will only take the acoustics, you can't beat them. About the price, if you have seen what I saw, it is amazing, the quality of these hollow bodies. I have 1 hollow body: an Epiphone Sheraton. I am also asking why they are expensive. Just know that if you transfer the production to China, with a few US people to check the process, the price will drop, and Chinese People are delivering fantastic work. They work real hard and good, certainly compared to countries like India.
I am a PRS fan, and they are offering you a better choice: an expensive US model or a lot less expensive Korean model: PRS SE, have one, and the sound is marvellous.
If you look around on chordie, I worked very hard on some topics, like cheaper but decent guitars. The problem is indeed that you pay a lot of money, but it is even 100 times worse, if you see vintage prices, like a fender stratocaster 1964, going up more than 20.000$ and this just for a piece of wood with strings.

Well boxer, this is an unexpected question. As far as I think, a classic song is a strophe followed by a refrain and another strophe. I don't know why, but I think they use chords, used when writing a song. I love to play, and sometimes you play chords, not really fitting when used in a refrain.
My point is, you can use some of these extra chords, to improve your song, the transition from a strophe to a refrain isn't that what you really wanted, and (this is subjective) I use them sometimes, the chords, to fill in an empty space, with the mean goal, to have a better song.
A beautiful example is  NEVER MY LOVE, by the ASSOCIATION. They start with a strophe, followed by a refrain, here in this case Never my love, never my love, and than you have a bridge, not so easy, but if you play the song Strophe Refrain Strophe alone, something is missing and take the bridge playing it for the second time, you can really feel how nice a song can be using a bridge.
There are CHORDIANS who are MUCH BETTER in explaining this topic. What I wrote was just my impression

This is very objective as topic. About taste an colour you can't discuss. About song structure, style and arrangements we can discuss easier, but than again CAN YOU COMPARE a song like PLEASE,
PLEASE ME me with A DAY IN A LIFE? Or SHE LOVES YOU with STRAWBERRY FIELDS?
You can't.
So, maybe it is amazing to see that as far I know that the songs written by George Harisson are ranked very high.
- Something
- Here comes the sun
- while my guitar gently weeps
I still can't understand that George writing such songs, had only a little input, because it was all LENNON/McCARTNEY.
- yesterday, a tricky song, more difficult to play than to listen.
- let it be
- Norwegian wood.

It is up to you fellow chordians to share thoughts on this topic, and I really want to see your opinion. It shall be more complex than thought, because in my humble opinion, they reinvented themselves almost on every album, the fascination of their evolution.

Hell, Michigan
Toad Suck, Arkansas
Wetwang, England
BUT THE BEST NAME I FOUND IS:
In Austria (Schwarzenegger should probably know this) there is a place named FUCKING (THIS IS NOT ON PURPOSE, OR PROFANITY, but it is true.
About names: are there families in the UK or USA having the name "HEAD"? If so please don't name your son....
Their is a place called Funnybone in Canada
In Maryland, there is a place called ACCIDENT, in ITALY, Bastardo. World's End in the UK. Again in Canada, a place called dildo. It is a pity we have also real fantastic names, but it is impossible to translate or understand. Like You Bet (California), a city too.
I wrote years ago a song using all kinds of EXISTING names, and I had very funny lyrics, AND all names of collueges in my village were in that song. I didn't forget it entirely, but it is again impossible to understand the original lyrics, and translating is useless.
I noticed a lot of cities having the same name in the USA, like Springfield.

It is amazing to see so many words like this
- cockpit
- cocktail
- joe cocker
- peacock
All innocent words, used without noticing this.
I also love playing with words, like Mr AL K Selzer.
About Osama Bin Laden, I am 100% sure that there are people in Japan, having as family name OSAMA

Your answer is brilliant, and I was thinking already about building an own guitar.
Besides the music stores, you can hear a lot of the guitars on myspace or youtube, or like gibson: on their website, in the humbucker topic.
About plug and play, I did this for my first electric, in fact second, having a fantastic nice Gibson Studio, always detuning. I went to a store, asked for a Gibson Les Paul Standard, For a Fender in a certain price category, like that Les Paul Standard, and a new model PRS, almost nobody knew what a PRS was. It was like this:
- sitting on an amp, to feel the vibrations, and never change the amp position.
- using the 3 brands and 2 extra guitars.
- It felt right using PRS, more than the other guitars.
It still took me some time, but I traded my Les Paul Studio (I mean they took my Studio), I won quite some money on this one, I paid it to a friend, head of the import section at the customs, I paid it $400 and got 900$ for it 1 year later, and this is more or less where it all started: my PRS mania.

Hello Dolly, I am not Louis Armstrong, but you are so right. A lot of places have crazy names, like the one in Italy. Here in Belgium we have also some places. But about Family names, you can have real freaky situations. Like the Family name PUT, in Dutch NO PROBLEM. it is a pitt (?) but if you have that name pronounced in French, or you live in the French part, it is pronounced different and it means "prosti...So is the Russian president, named PUTIN, in French, see PUT.

All those brands, wanting a piece of the cake.
It is almost impossible to find a guitar, SO MANY BRANDS.
Even if you only want big brands, it gets really difficult.
- Have you seen how many different Fenders there are
- How many Gibsons
- How many Paul Reed Smith guitars.
- Gretsch is maybe a company (FENDER TOO) who has not too many guitars.
AND, I even didn't mention the "so called" heavy metal guitars, like Ibanez, ESP, Jackson. It is more and more difficult to choose.
One of the "criteria" I use is the fact that some brands, like Gibson, are giving the opportunity to listen, SEE HUMBUCKERS. This gives you already an idea. Last Tuesday I was in a Guitar Store, just Fender, you need a week to try all Fenders, US, Mexican, Squiers.
Same problem with Gibson. I also noticed that Fender has started an acoustic offensive, after neglecting that market for decades. This start to result in guitars having a lower budget at first, and  who are now more and more expensive.
PRS, I wrote a mail to PRS more than a year ago, with the question if they would produce Acoustics. Well, it seems that they are busy to step into the acoustic market.

I love that "little" man, but only his voice. He has a phenomenal voice, can sing high, low.
But I read yesterday that the most expensive NOT ON THE MARKET CD is the so called new album: CHINESE DEMOCRACY by Guns N' Roses.
after 11 years and $13 million, Guns N' Roses' next CD is still at large.
To be honest: for me is this item far over every logical explanation.

Altex, I agree 100% with Roger.
I also know that it is scary, because of your age, and the QUESTION: will they like it!!!
I am not a professional, like manager, or CEO in a record company, like WEA, BMG ARIOLA. About BMG ARIOLA, the BENELUX boss, was one of my best friends.
I know that those guys are for 90% interested in WHAT CAN I WIN, USING YOUR GROUP. 10% they are interested in you guys. So you have one big advantage, if you bring the CD on the market, remember that it is not expensive (matter of speaking). They take a CD, put it in a big "machine" and making as much copies as you want. This is really tricky and not so easy, because once the CD is accepted, and you have a good response: how many CD's I need.
I am going to put this on Bands & Artists, here we are on the electric site.

I have a Boss BR 600, with 8 tracks and a lot of virtual tracks with the intention to make songs.
I would love them to see on www.myspace.com
There is again a "BUT": Am I violating the law if I put a song, a COVER on myspace.
I love 1 song really a lot: NEVER MY LOVE, by the ASSOCIATION. If I make a soft acoustic ballad, will this cause problems??? I heard the song for the first time in my life in 1988, on a plane to South Africa, and that's why I think as follow: they seemed to be big in the USA, not in Europe.
I know that they had 1 (major) hit in the Netherlands, "along comes Mary", and like all critics do, they try to find the meaning of a song, here "marihuana"
So the fact is, as I suspected, NO HITS, no "windy", no "cherish" even no "never my love".
DO I, and probably a lot of us, HAVE TO REPORT THIS or not.
This is a topîc for every chordian who wants to put a song on myspace. I do know that it is a great site, like youtube, to SHOW AND SHARE YOUR OWN SONGS, but what if you want a cover?
