I just heard one of my favorite bass players has passed away and it reminded that I haven't looked at or been chordie for a while.  I don't really have anything of value to offer this site nowadays but I thought this poem that came into my head might give someone something to read on here.

                    Herbie Flowers On the Radio

Most times I don't want nothing but my central nervous system to respond to me.

Tidal triggers sometimes high sometimes low remind me to extend my reach.

Outside of my walls is a cat catching a rat while a lazy dog wags its tail head held high chasing the wind still loyal to a human.

Not saying hello not saying goodbye.

Warming sun a winter fire  a choir of birds surrounding me exempt from humans and invasive political words.

As I open my eyes in the morning to winter and summer invisible messages with no visible means of suport in my mind start to race all over the place after I hear a storm warning.

My thoughts wanting to conquer some unfathomable disgrace telling me when waking up the only boost  I need when tired is coffee beans and water.

Medical advice has turned me from coffee to tea blocking tiredness in my brain.

Blood boiling while hearing on the radio many humans are treated like lambs sent to the slaughter.

I hear a somber radio voice  announcing sad news, Herbie Flowers is no longer playing bass for some new recording.

Thoughts enter my morning space making me wonder what can I do that's good for the human race before I am called to that other place.

I hear a classical voice from an old playwriter of generations back saying in my head to me,  "to be or not to be" followed by a rock and roll intrusion into my thoughts a tune blasts out of my wife's radio telling me to "take a walk on the wild side".

After checking my  letterbox walking back up my path a idea springs out of the air reminding me its has been a long time since I have gone on my computer with thoughts of music and what's happening on chordie.

Finding no one is on chordie today  I ask myself who sang that song  "Where Have All The Flowers Gone".

Thank you, Jan it is most probably too old school, for most people to enjoy. I messed up a bit in a few places in the song.

Piri, to me the big worry is the internet changing what it means to be human.  Convivial discussion on the internet is great but I'm starting to see more examples of the opposite. Chordie is good though there is just not enough people participating on here nowadays.  Long live civilization and long may we all be cynical about the reliability or safety of the internet.!

Gracias, Jim as they say in Spain está bien song about a Lady and a place in the world by you . A young friend of mine has been living in Madrid since 2018  teaching  Salsa with other Spanish influenced dance styles and also English language.  He loves living there. I think your song captures some of that romantic tension that can be associated with the Spanish streets where so many young lovers roam. Though in your song its more of a reunion of two lovers who had been separated for a while.

That must have been very frustrating? I went to an outdoor concert once where there was a power outage so they switched over to a diesel powered generator that was so noisy that it ruined the show sound for me in the audience. The other people with me didn't think the generator noise was a problem just me.

Thank you, Jan, I hope it gives people a rough Idea of what I was trying to achieve.

Jan I appreciate you taking the time to drop in and make a comment.
Thankyou also Piri and Brian  love the poetry you guys write.

Civilization is not about old or young
It is about talking
Though sometimes I wish I had bit my tongue or zipped my lip
Difference between intimidation and a welcoming community
Can lift or destroy  a whole nation
The online reality is not the real reality
People who have time for people have life
More than one person sitting on a bench talking
Is  better than more than one person sitting on a bench
Looking at their devices
Not talking
I don’t need algorithms to make me feel good
Just someone on a bus smiling or saying, “hi” makes my day
Is it all about my or someone else’s age
It is hard to say
Good humanity can be a simple act
Of a young person helping an old person
Cross the road

Winter is coming around my way
I’m starting to spend a bit more  time at home
I roam to find what makes people
Move away from their home
The internet for some is
An escape from the world.
For me the real world
Is my escape from the internet
A digital native
Or a digital nomad
Not for me

This is my entry for this month using the words distortion and throne. Excuse my voice on this. It comes from a sort of rock opera I started to write about a mythical leader of a clan. A benevolent King who is trying to get a democratic system going where people vote for their leader but no one wants to have a go.

Cheers Jim and Piri thank you for your comments. Harmonica Man he looks like a character out of "The Lord Of The Rings" film. How he gets the mouthorgan passed his beard to his lips is a feat in itself I should imagine. I will attach a short video of me chatting to him.

Harmonica Man
Ronald Sterry is his name
He is 74 lives alone in his home
Doesn't drink doesn't smoke
Loves talking to people
Loves to joke
Plays his harmonica
Dingo is his other name
Because harmonica is his favourite game
Most know him as Harmonica Man
I tell him I sing and play guitar bad
He plays the harmonica
We laugh that is ok
He knows many songs
He knows how to joke
Many  from all walks of life
Stop for a chat
To hear him play
In our city
Most days
Before he retired
He worked as a garbage collector
Running around Wellington streets
Now today part of his permanent beat
Is Cuba Street
Playing harmonica while tapping his feet.

Keep up the good work  Richard.

Devil
Town
Don't
Always

Excellent Jazzy song nicely performed.

Good one EB
We all can’t be sharks
Leave a big mark in some flash carpark
I don’t want to buy
Into toxic culture
Working twenty four  seven
Won’t get me a place in heaven
Without much thought and contemplation
Everything I do is a surprise
From sunset to sunrise
All I want is
To be financially self sufficient
Spend time with my family
Be terrible at my hobbies
Earn my living
Do no robberies
Be down to earth
Avoid snobbery
Do my bit
To get a fair slice of the pie
Live happily
Till I die

I caught up with a friend of mine who I played a bit of music with years ago. I asked him if he could play guitar on a song I wrote for Maree. Got my cellphone out and this is how it came out. He wasn't happy with his playing on this but I thought he did a great job. It still needs a lot more work on it but considering  the short time we had it was a start. Just my vocals lost their way.

Cheers Jan thank you for reading and commenting. I think what is happening with many of the rough sleepers is they are there due to drug addictions.  A friend of mine who works for the Sallies tells me many would rather use their dole money for drugs rather than accommodation.  Hustlers are everywhere in society but it seems the street ones are getting  more craftier with their scams.  I know phone scams are big business in some countries. Tech makes it easy for them to steal peoples money. Then we have also the hackers some of them working for corrupt governments.

Thank you Jim for checking out my video, It is a privilege.to live here in this part of the world. It has a good mix of nature and suburbia,   Plenty of natural spaces from the sea  to forests and green areas. I don't drive much now days so the public transport works great for me also.
