I have never heard of anyone being arrested for singing a known song, just look at the tribute bands out there. In fact there would be virtually no live performances from people like SouthPaw if artistes were not allowed to cover songs, YouTube and many other sites would also have to close. So I see no problem with Chordie Members posting links to their covers that are hosted on other sites, we have been doing this for ages but never before had a specific place for them to be posted.

'My local band' is now 'My local band and me'.

This had been done so that there is now a specific place for Members to showcase their covers of known songs. The place for original songs will remain in the 'Songwriting' section.

Hi DC,

Congratulations on writing the 300th and I am looking forward to hearing this, and some of the  others, when you record them.

I cannot play it at the moment as I have just come back from the UK and my guitars are safely locked away at a friend's house until tomorrow but I will give it a whirl then.

Hi stealstrings,

I have to echo Ark's and Kenny's remarks that a recording of it, so we can understand the tempo and emotion of the song. would be great.

Well done,

Hi Jim,

A great song and recording for a first attempt. I hope it is the first of many. I bet you will soon be a regular in the recording section smile.

For me the best drummer will always be Dave Payne. OK I know no one has heard of him but back in the 60's I was rhythm guitarist for what would now be considered a Shadows tribute band. Not only was Dave the best drummer in the district he would do at least 2, 15 to 20 minute drum solo's during a gig. This gave me the chance to get onto the dance floor, find a partner and arrange to take the young lady home smile. Oh happy days!!

Ideally, so it is only done once and you only have to learn it once, it needs to be in the key that you can comfortably sing it in.

Sorry to be late on this one Jeff but I hope you, and Amy's little one, both had very happy birthdays.

H Judycdy,

It is illegal to post copyright lyrics so I have had to remove them for you. I have left the chords, so if you say what key you would like it transposing to, I or another Member, will be able to do so and you can then fit them back to your lyrics.

You cannot lower the pitch 4 semitones with a capo but by putting it on the eighth fret and raising it 8 semitones you will be in the desired key albeit an octave higher. Fingering might be a little awkward with the capo so high up the fretboard though.

You might be better transposing to the desired pitch.

Have a listen to this one, 'Walking Alone' by Richard Anthony, a song from the 60's that I am particularly fond of: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D9SxFYEbq8g

Unfortunately I cannot find 'Blood Red River' by The Silkie but I will keep trying for that one.

Hi Amy,

I shall be be stopping with my little brother who has  3 or 4 guitars so I shall be able to keep playing. We might even end up going to his local with them one night as we usually do when I am there. The last time there were 5 of us playing and we ended up at one of the guy's house until the early hours of the morning.

My mum was a pretty good pianist and as kids we often played along with her, she always enjoyed our playing and the recordings I sent her especially this one that I did for her which has photos from her's and dad's engagement, wedding plus Jean, Colin and I as kids:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cF0vWvX9gCo

Thank you all and thank you for sharing your losses too. My mum was 87 and still living independantly on her own. It was unexpected and happened quickly without any suffering which was a blessing for her but hard on us.

I have a small circle of very good friends here who have been very supportive who have been checking I'm OK every day and it is good to talk about personal tragedys with people you trust.

I have just arranged my flight to go back for 10 days, volcano permitting, for her funeral so I will be with the family for a while.

Toney, my guitar certainly been a comfort to me and teaching some of my young students on Saturday and today has helped too.

Hi John,

Feel free to join in the discussions and ask when you need help or clarification but please read the 'Stickys' at the start of each section as they will give you guidance and what is allowed on things like copyight.

Enjoy Chordie,

Certainly Roland do one. My friend Howard had one on his Ovation and it will even give brass and many other instrument sounds. I will call in and get details today and post them later.

Hi PostJohn and welcome to Chordie,

None of the songs listed on Chordie, apart from originals in the Songwriting section, are hosted here. Chordie is a search engine and finds words and chords from other sites so strum patterns cannot be added. However if there is a particular song you want help with then ask in the appropriate section and I am sure that someone will give you assistance.

Thank you all,

I guess after 16 years on her own it was time be reunited with my dad.

It is a little difficult with me being so far away from the rest of the family but phones, on-line chat and e-mails lessen the distance.
