I am unfamiliar with the term "cover." I see it used in the comments all over You Tube. What does it mean?

Thanks,

Gits

Tony, yep I know the feeling. I decided to learn how to play the guitar when I retired three years ago. It has been quite an experience with lots of plateaus where I don't feel like I'm making any headway.

Sometimes, I just back off for a day or two because it seems my brain needs to absorb what I've been learning. When I start playing again after the break, I've always noticed an improvement.

Maybe you just need to take a break for a day or two (but not too long or you lose those callouses) and then come back to what you are working on. It seems to work for me. Good luck.

Is there some kind of intervention group for those of use afflicted with GAS?

Right?

riddler, thanks for posting the link. I'm an old geezer so I don't keep up with current music much, but I wanted to say that is an absolutely beautiful song.

Once again, thanks.

Tony, what kind of guitar did you play when making your recording? Also, I'd be interested in your recording setup; mic, amp, etc.

Thanks for recording that. I enjoyed it.

WOW!

I love that song but never could figure out the chords. I hope it will fit my modified finger picking style. Otherwise, I guess I'll have to take up the pick.

Thanks for sharing that with us.

As a young man, I broke my thumb at the joint on my left hand and injured my wrist. About 10 years ago, I developed an incredible pain in my left wrist and especially in the thumb joint.

I don't have any pain now.

What I did was cut out all acidic foods, and especially diet sodas. The second thing that I did was to start taking Omega 3 and 9 fish oil, about 3000mg a day. The fish oil acts as a natural lubricant besides helping heart functions. I can still tell that the thumb has been broken, but I do not experience any pain or lack of motion as long as I don't go longer than about three days without my fish oil and stay off of the diet colas.

I took up guitar when I retired at 65. I play every day and enjoy it more each time I do. I'll be 68 in December.

I grew up using Ipana toothpaste; my first car costs $60 and I bought an 8 year old Oldsmobile for $250.

But most of all, I miss "big hair" and mini skirts, which reminds me of how much I miss Barbara Eden playing Jeannie. Lucky for me the Ion channel has I Drean of Jeannie reruns on every week day. Seeing her damned near puts me into cardiac arrest.

I enjoyed that very much. Thanks for taking the time to record it and post here for our enjoyment.

What model is your Martin?

Thanks, Gits

Does anyone know how to do this with a PC? Or, can you point me to the information if it's already been posted.

Thanks,

JDJ

I have found that I must go through a warm up before I can actually play the songs that I know. If I attempt to play without warming up, I simply mis-finger (I finger pick - or try to) the strings/notes. After I've warmed up a bit, everything seems to come into sync and I can tell how out of tune my guitar is.

If I just start playing a song, I will almost always miss the root note several time when I change chords.

Damed B chord.... I fight it too.

WOW! Pix.
What you have done is the reason I visit Chordie everyday. I get so much infomation and encouragement from the postings.
Thanks.

Ha! Got you all beat. I turned 67 Dec 11th. Dabbled with the guitar in my late teens, but college and a corporate career got in the way. When I retired, I decided to really learn how to play. After two years, and playing 3 to 4 hours a day, I can make some pretty good "finger picking" sounds. Funny thing happened on the way to becoming an accomplished guitar player, I went back to work as a network engineer - something completely different from my 35 years in sales. I still play every day.

Here's what I've been doing to create a printed song book:

I started by creating a folder in My Pictures named Chords. When I see a song that I want to add to my song book, I right click on each of the chord pictures, select Save Image As... and save them into the Chords folder.

Then I highlight the song - copy and paste it into an open Word document. I make sure there are a couple of blank lines under the title and (1) place the cursor on one of those blank lines, (2) click on Insert in the tool bar, (3) select Picture, and select From File... in the drop down list.

(4) Navigate to the Chord folder that I saved the chord pictures to, and select them in alphabetical order; insert them into the document.

When I have all of the chord pictures across the top of the page, I save the Word document into a folder named Lyrics.

After a while, you will have all of the chord pictures (with the exception of some rare ones) in your Chord folder, so you will skip the part about saving them.

Regardless of which word processing program you use, Internet Explorer, Firefox, etc browsers will let you save pictures from Internet sites. These pictures (chord pictures) can then be inserted into the word processing software that you use.

Hope this helps.

Learn to play the open G without using your index finger. Even though it's more difficult to learn, you'll never regret it because it will let you transition to barre - and other - chords easier. Middle finger on A 2nd fret, ring finger on big E 3rd fret, and pinkie on little E 3rd fret.

Take a look at this guy - Tommy Emmanuel. Probably the best unknown guitarist I've ever seen/heard.
