Your loss is our gain. Keep sending the talent over here and keep your gaga crap to yourselves, although she is getting airtime over here. As you say its sad. Seen seasick steve 3 times in Scotland and a joy to watch, a breath of fresh air with his 4 string homemade electric guitar. Keep the faith and all will come good.

Just been at a very intimate gig in Carmunnock ( small villiage in Scotland), a guy called Walter Strauss wowed us with his songs and excepional guitar skills. He is from a town north of San Fran, California. Has our friends across the pond seen him play? The 35 of us had a ball watching him do his stuff. Please tell me he is well known, if not, he should be.

I buy and sell commercial catering equipment. In this climate second hand stuff is all the rage for new restaurants and fast food outlets. We recondition all our stuff so it looks like new but at half the price. We are doing all right but January and February are always slow. We also sell new stuff for the ones with plenty of cash. There are at least 100 restaurants we have installed their kitchen only to empty them within 1 year, and then sell their stuff to the next owners. The ultimate recycle job.

Hi Selso, sorry to hear about your divorce. I hope this episode in your life wont hold you back too long. Im sure you will get your mojo back and get back to what you enjoy most, the love of writing and playing music.

I have never bought a brand new guitar. I currently have 2. One is a Hohner electro-acoustic and the other is a Fender strat. The fender is more like a beautiful piece of art that sits proudly in my living room. I suppose i should play it more often but my Honer is played at least 4 or five days a week,( Sundays and Wednesdays with my mates in our local, the rest in the house). I enjoy the sound of the acoustic much more and find easier to learn songs playing it. Oh i also have a Rally mandolin which my wife bought me last christmas. I dont play on the mandolin enough to call myself even a novice.

They say the best things in life are free. Only true if there are musical instruments involved. The only thing my brother has given me is the flu. You lucky guy. Enjoy yourself badeye.

Sorry to hear of your friends passing. I am going to the funeral of my next door neighbour on Thursday morning. Also because of the cigarettes. He was only 52. Damn shame.

Facebook, Twitter etc: People should get out more. I'd rather have 10 real friends than 1000 faceless and dummy friends. Also why do people think that their lives are sooooo important that they spill the beans on everything they have done on any given day. Some things are best left unsaid.
Ps: This is grumpy, nearly middle aged mans corner.

Hi Zurf, totally agree with using swimming to use weight. Its the only excercise where you use every muscle in your body. Its just a pity that it is quite awkward to drink a tin of beer and swim at the same time(unless you can swim backstroke with one arm). Seriously though good luck with your weight issues and remember a good saying " Your health is your wealth".

i am an orphan at the age of 36 but i hold close the 32 years with my mum and the 36 years with my stubborn dad ( it would have been 32 years if he had anything to do with life). I now have a life with my wife of 10 months ( been together for 18 years (had to make sure you know!!)) Life goes on and you can only live with the cards your dealt. God bless all mums and dads whom without we would not exist. love you forever.

hello Roger, so sorry to hear about your loss. i lost my mum nearly four years ago and my dad six months ago. Times are hard, but if we are strong and think about it at least our parents did not lose us. Hope your family are ok and just remember the good times.
