Hey...
I was thinking about painting some cool stuff on my guitar, like flames or an eagle, since my guitar is getting a 'well loved' look. So, I was wondering if anyone has done this and what kind of paint did you use, and what did you seal it with?

Okay, yeah. "Tied" isn't right, I am referring to the 8th, 16th, and 32nd notes in succession as you said. Thanks for the correction!
Thanks to you-all to for the advise. smile

By tied notes I mean like in written music where sometimes more than one 8th notes together have 1 bar connecting them, and 16th notes have two bars. They're "tied". I hope that makes sense!

Hi,
I was taught to play tied notes with a down-up-down-up pick motion. I can play them much better just picking down, but I was wondering, is there some reason that down-up is "better'? Should I be practicing doing them down-up way?

Thanks ya'all! That's neat that a lot of you can play for several hours at a time! I like my sheet music all the way too. I'm really not good at writing music or placing chords to tunes I know. And those that do, like my brother, music teachers and a lot of you guys, amaze me!

Hey everybody...
What songs do you-all like play from memory?
I like Wildwood Flower, Swallowtail Jig, and Hurt. (Johnny Cash's version)

Hi everybody...
I was wondering, when playing alternate bass, what should be played on the sixth string on a 5-string chord? On a C, I know its supposed to be a G (note) on the alternate part. But that is the only one I know for sure.
When I play a 'Am' for example, after I do the A bass note, then the higher strings, (E,C,A, at once) then what do I play on the (low) E string for the alt. part? And the other 4 or 5 string (basic) chords?
I hope this post makes sense!

Hello again,
I am actually right handed, (sorry for any wrong ideas!) I was just wondering if there was some kind of 'unwritten rule' or something about which way to play.
Thanks for all your input everybody, always good to see what others think and know.
PS Zurf, I youtubed Elizabeth Cotton. She's really good!

Hi,
Are guitars always played left hand chords/notes, right hand strumming/picking? Does it change if you're left handed? Is it more of just a preference thing, with it commonly held with the neck left side?

Hey everybody...
Been practicing with wrist action, going slow, pick pressure attention, no pick and, yes, even the metronome Zurf... It is starting to come together into a good practice time.  Looking forward to getting better and faster! Thanks everybody! big_smile

Hey everybody... Chordiers to the rescues again!
I have basic down/up 4/4 or 3/4 time strumming figured out, but when I try to turn up the heat like 4 or so down/up per beat, but it sounds really loud and TERRIBLE!
How does one play like this? Do I just need to start slow and get faster or something? Gobs of practice?
What brought this on was that I was trying to play is Josh Wilson's 'I Refuse'. But I would like to know what to do then apply it to other songs also.
   Any suggestions?  Thanks in advance!

The ukulele isn't actually mine, Easybeat. My little sister has one that is constantly out of tune, so I'd like to get it sounding better.

Hi Everybody,
Is a ukulele tuned like a violin? ( highest to lowest E, A, D, G)
If not, what is it tuned to?
Thanks!

Hi everybody,
I am planning on getting a capo here pretty soon. I was wondering if there was any brands or designs I should stay away from. Or, are they pretty much the same all the way across?

Okay my brother found a site (www.drfeezel.com) that has free sheet music for abunch of instruments. I was originally asking for him since we like to play together. Thanks for checking!

I don't understand...A and E doesn't use 3rd fret. Can you explain a bit more?

The songs I have them on are 'The Blarney Pilgrim-The Kesh Jig' and 'Guilderoy - The Red-Haired Boy'. Both of these songs I got from an Orchestra group I was in, not from Chordie so I'm not sure if you can find them on here.

Hi,
Does anybody know of a site similar to Chordie, but for pianos? Somewhere with gobs of music, in notation. Or is this just wishful thinking? lol!!

Hey Everybody...
I have some songs that have A(no3) and E(no3) chords in the music. What's the 'no 3' thing about and how do you play these?
