Yep it's tough.

Two measures leading up to the bridge after he says "..all over again."

1111  1111  - Then the bridge.,,11 11 1111 11 11 11 11 1111
where 1111 is a whole measure and 11 is a half a measure and spaces are the chord changes.

I think capo on 2nd fret goes like this:     C G D C G Em C G ...
D would be full measure, and last G would be full measure.

Who'll Stop the Rain comes to mind.

Better post it when you get done so we can see how you've done.  Hope this helps.

Welcome Tangledup.  I use a Fender Acoustasonic Jr.  Mic input plus guitar input plus line out to run to PA.  The mic I use is both an AKG and a Shure SM58, but I like the Shure better.  I have a Taylor with the Expression System.  I've never considered even looking for another acoustic amp due to my satisfaction with it.  Just work nice as can be and vocals (to me) sound really nice.  Good luck and let us know how your pick comes out.

Good work Crevs. Good on you for posting one to share.  It takes guts to expose one's music for critique.   Though I've found most people on Youtube (and Chordie for that matter) are supportive and have good things to say.

Barracuda....or probably another Heart song.

Well said Nela.  In short if you put on a capo but use same chords you're changing the key.  If you use CHORDIE's translator on the right side of the page it will tell you what chords you use to RETAIN the same key but play in different "voice".  THis is useful when two guitarists play the same song so they compliment each other.

Welcome here and don't be shy.  All of us learn something when a good thread gets going.

All good advice above.  I bought the RC-2 for $155 free shipping on ebay.

I'd like to add the Boss FS-5U footswitch greatly enhances the timing for stopping or erasing the RC-2 loop pedal.  One press stops all loops and if you hold for 2 seconds erases all loops, whereas the RC-2 pedal you press twice within one second and it stops or press and hold 2 seconds and it erases the last track.  5S-5U is particularly useful at about $20 for some songs which are repetitive but may have a bridge in the middle, or just to put you in more confident control of the ending.

Southpaw is right, it takes a whole new study to get the looper instrument down pat, but you can pretty much start getting a thrill right out of the box.  The songwriters would probably appreciate it as you can create and discard or undo loops without ever taking your hand off the guitar.

You might be holding the pick wrong or too stiff a pick.  Try a red brain pick (it has a cat tongue texture).  Their color coded for thickness.  Then hold it kind of like a quarter.  The pick should glide across the strings and not get hung up.  If you adjust your pick angles and make a few adjustments like that you may find things loosen up.  Good to remember how spastic it was just a short time ago.  It just keeps getting better.
Good luck.

Great story.  And I'm pretty sure you couldn't get to sleep that night for 4 hours!

That's a good story.  So post us some results when you get a chance to get together.  And good on Zurf for keeping the music alive.

Give her instruments but don't push.  If she's interested now is the time when she's most able to make something of it.

Welcome to Chordie jebase.

Try Youtube for listening to songs you may want to learn.  Often you'll want to listen to someone playing a cover version because a whole band will hide to song somewhat.  Here's a guy covering Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville.

Greetings all,

I've noticed a huge decline lately in songs ... there is a huge difference between songs and poems.

One can argue 'till they're blue in the face but poetry is poetry, and it has its place.

I personally think the addition of poems has soured some/many songwriters...

...there are 100's of poetry exclusive sites out there in cyber land that one can express their inner words....miss some of the previous songwriters who have chosen to take their tremendous talents elsewhere........

Any thoughts............

As relative newcomer here's some thoughts.  You have some subjective conclusions, but don't get me wrong I agree with the basic thought you posted:

Don't know if a "huge decline" is just a natural peak and valley with people's interest, but it's presumptive to say it's because poetry is here.  Also, I don't think there's a huge difference in poetry and lyrics.  But LYRICS not yet set to music would have the GOAL of becoming music.  That's where I agree poems don't belong in a music website, if the intent is to make a poem there are sites more dedicated to that.  SO if a poetic verse is posted here I'd think we would all be expecting it is an offer to go the next step either by the author or this community.  If it is only to say "here's a poem I wrote" it seems there's a better place.  Calling the section "LYRICS" would put focus on music writing.

That said, let's hope not to alienate the songwriters who aren't daring enough to call their words lyrics.  Especially those songwriters also that happen to be DJs and poets smile

ps Most will agree - regardless, Chordie is a great site for learning.

Try this Mickey.  Spend next practice as follows.  First few minutes do a pentatonic scale type exercise to limber fingers.  Then 20-30 minutes focusing on RIGHT (picking) hand with the idea to increase right hand skills only.  Left hand either holds chord patterns while right picks individual arpeggios, or left hand holds individual strings and right hand works on attack and rhythm of single notes (or perhaps two notes).  Next, after left and right are now warmed up spend 30 minutes strumming improvisational three chord or four chord progressions... G, D, Em, C  or something along those lines.  Don't play any particular song, just wing it.  SO to recap:  Fret hand loosen up, Pick hand talent search, then improv.  Then don't play for two or three days and see if next time you pick it up see if your game is back on.

I'm guessing her generation listened to this and it might strike a chord.   The tabs are here and not too hard.

Glad you liked it.  He's touring again, usually in northwest, but this time hitting east coast.  So don't miss if you get a chance.

If you want inspiration, this guy (Tony Furtado) opened for Eric Johnson and boy what a talented slide player.  You might can tell he started out on banjo.

Good advice Songsterman (and all).  I do leave one in the stand for same reasons stated.  It's hard on strings.  I did just try out DR coated 11's and they're a little cheaper than Elixers.

Hey welcom ENCguitar.  I was also noticing the chords are kinda light.  Also, seems like some songs would print on one page if the header were smaller.  That would help them fit on a music stand when learning.

Russell I've got the ME-50 and it's nice for a lot of reasons.  You can cut volume with footpedal to unplug and change instruments without any noise, you can check tuning, the wah pedal is sweet, and it was my first intro to looping (but only 2 seconds).  Maybe we can get some discussions going on how we can use it more effectively.  It's prob able to do so much more than I do with it.  Anyway congrats and have fun.   Steve

All of my friends had guitar hero and all I had was a guitar. I was determined to play what they could on the game. I'm 17 years old now. After about a year I'm still playing guitar every day and the fad of guitar hero has passed by my generation. tongue

I've wondered what's all the hype over fantastic game players, when you could learn some decent real guitar in the time some spend learning how to pretend.  I did give it a try and it was sort of fun.

Hey all.  I play just one song in Open E tuning (Black Crowes - She Talks to Angels) and was wondering if anyone knows another easy or intermediate song in Open E so at least could get more than one song out of the tuning.
