Actually just an update, I have no self confidence, ok? That's why I say stupid things. Like "There is no point in me I shouldn't exist" is a popular one.

Okay, I'm sorry. I'm just saying, maybe I wasn't made to stand out. So, I phrased that wrong. I don't believe that I'm anything special, just average musician who can't make anything good no matter how much I practice. So yeah keep the signature, because I like what I read now. Apologies to everyone, just stay clear of me.

That's right, some people say I have the fastest right hand in all of England. I can play Peppermint Rag (Anyone ever heard that?) in about 30 seconds. And I'm only 13. I can't get in a band though. tut. I can stum the same note about 20 times a second as well. I don't think I'll ever achieve anything with playing guitar though. Does anyne else have a really cold, aching, stiff but suprisingly quick strumming hand?

Hi,

You shouldn't really ask people their age, some find it offensive. You could be banned. JOKE! big_smile I'm 13 on the 23rd September. They say I have the fastest right hand in Britain...  big_smile

Yeah, you're right! Only proper guitarists read written music! Tabs are kind of annoying sometimes.

What are the most expensive guitar strings anyone's come across? I heard there's some pure gold ones for about 100 pounds.

Thanks for your comments,

Hi all,

Thanks for all your comments so far, they were all very interesting.

Hi again,

You know the F add 9 chord I told you? If you think THAT'S hard try to play it on a bass. Thing is basses have longer frets. I can do it on a bass if you're interested. And my fingers aren't that long.

Hi,

If it was DGCFAD, that would be tuning all the strings down a tone. The first comment was right. Here's a cool tuning to try (Low E to high E): G (tuned up) G (down) G (up) Gsharp (up) Gsharp (down) Gsharp (up).
You can actually buy tuners that have different tunings and not just standard. The best are ones that show what note you are playing so you can do any tuning. I tune by ear though.

Good luck

PS: The sharp sign on my keyboard doesn't work

Good point, I'd also love to play in Church, I can imagine me shredding out "All things bright and beautiful with a EVH effect, and using the vibrato arm (whammy bar) a lot that would be funny. I don't know why some Churches would allow it and some wouldn't but then I haven't seen many different Churches I've only been to one Catholic Church. I usually go to an Anglican Church. I should ask, because our organist is quite old and finds it hard now God bless her! I would try it, go for it.
Good luck

Hi there,

I agree on Smoke on the water, I hate it! I've had to teach that to so many people mad Also in Cambridge for some reason practically every guitarist can play Wild Thing. I expect that's heard a lot too. I now refuse to tead Smoke On The Water to anyone. Mind you I have played it on a 12 string in a shop before I discovered how anoying it was. And Wild Thing. Actually I'd like to take this oppurtunity to apologise.

Apologies guys - had a bit of stuff going on recently and haven't been on here to monitor what's going on!

Guys F F Sake - get a grip!  No problem with you lot disagreeing with each other over tastes in music - after all, as they say variety is the spice of life...

... but this is neither the forum to do it nor is it the right website - keep it respectful - we're all here to learn and share!  And besides, I happen to be a big fan of S&G so pack it in!! ;-)

OK, I'm sorry everyone!

Ok, thanks Ken.
I don't want to be in a band with enemies though. I have enough enemies as it is. It's not my fault, some people just think I practice Witchcraft which I DON'T! But going solo? Who's going to want to listen to ME? Never mind

I'd pretty much agree with you on this one. I guess the simple answer is that any genre is good, it's the quality of the musicianship and the songwriting that matters.

I did see Metallica playing at the recent Live Earth gig and I thought, my god what an unholy racket! So I suppose that metal isn't my thing either.

But how would you categorize Led Zeppelin, because I love that band?

By the way, I thought I hated all rap music as well until my eighteen year old daughter started playing me some of the good stuff.

Hmmm... Led Zeppelin are probably Rock/ Hard Rock. Thanks for your reply!

I'm fairly open minded in music but I can't stand heavy metal, thrash metal,  gothic metal, death metal, and other metals. I'm the only person out of my friends who likes classical Spannish music (such as flamenco), which my guitar teacher introduced to me kindly.

Thanks for any comments,

Will

What are you trying to achieve with a kill switch? Please do not take this question as a way to flame you I want to know what you are trying to do so that I may answer you correctly. If you don't know how to read a wiring schematic or wire a guitar you may fubar it really fast.

Bootlegger.

Um, I mean is there any cool things I should do with one, and things.

Hi all,

The title sums it up, I need some friendly advice. I started guitar to be popular. It doesn't work, and it certainly doesn't make me able to join a band. sad

Thanks everyone

I'm not cool enough to be in a band. I'll probably get nowhere anyway. tut.
Thanks for telling me this.

I'm writing a tune for guitar, and I don't know what to call it! It's an instrumental, and I hope to have piano and percussion in it as well. I don't play piano though. I came up with the word "Confusion" and thought that was. I don't know if it really fits into a genre, although it sounds kind of Classical. It's nice to listen to so far, but I want it to be really long, like eight minutes.
So I just need a name and I'll be away.

Thanks,

Will
