Some of the tools you'll need is a program to edit your tracks, Audacity seems to be the most popular it's a free download at http://audacity.sourceforge.net/    I would probably go ahead and download this program then go through Russell's tutorials because he explains everything you'll need in detail and all the tutorials are for the audacity program.

Selso I would go see it or borrow it just to see the difference but if you do buy this you can get the original full screen 1951 release in glorious black and white along with it and its worth it for that smile

Ark I totally agree with you on all of the movies on your list as I have seen the originals and the remakes the only exception on the list is War of the Worlds the English version filmed in Europe I have a copy and it is closer to HG. Wells's book then the 1955 version by George Pal featuring Gene Barry but all the rest are turkeys lol

Hi Russ
I'm generally dissappointed with re-makes of Classic sci-fi films. This film sounds like more of the same.
War of the worlds
Invasion of the body snatchers
Time machine
Journey to the centre of the earth
The planet of the apes
and others I can't remember.
All fall short of the orginals even with inclusion of alot of special effects and so called top actors.
The naivety of the 50's and 60's era films are their charm and they don't generally remake well in these more cynical times.
There is talk of a re-make of "Forbidden Planet" so more of the same...

Micky I think there are some sites online that have rhythm tracks and you can download them and make a CD of them with windows media player and pop them in when you want to have something to play along with or just jam online if your PC has speakers smile

I  like so many people got suckered into buying the DVD of this remake of a great classic this stinker cost me $18 dollars at walmart when I saw the ads on tv it looked like it was worth the money,it started out fine but drifted into a melancholy quagmire of goop,Keanu Reeves played the role of Klaatu the alien sent to Earth to warn the population of imminent destruction because they were destroying the planet wreaking havoc on the ozone layer and spending hard earned money on Guitar Hero for there ungrateful offspring,The original robot "Gort" was far more interesting even tho you could tell he was wearing a rubber suit but the new Gort turns into a swarm of small insects that have the ability to blow away solid structures and eat there way into your skin till you dissolve into ashes mercifully he finally decides to leave the planet ending the reign of terror on both the cast and the viewers bleheaaaa lol

Zurf that was a good one! this has become an interesting thread, people jumping out of bed punching air and laughing it would be natural for you to dream of fishing as your an avid angler but the castle on the crest of the hill with a bistro is a nice addition and Charlotte I live in a studio apartment and a piano would take up just about all the available space,I hope I dont ever need the services of a skilled surgeon as a result of a dream lol if anyone has any more strange dreams chime in smile

I have to agree with you about a messed up dream and I dont think im a genius or crazy and I have moved all the objects from around my bed just in case, thats a negative on the helmet lol

geoaguiar wrote:

Russell,
That is a messed up dream. They say there is a fine line between genuis and madness. Perhaps you stepped on the line!!!!!!! I think wearing a helmet to bed will solve your problem.

Zurf my guitar was on the floor leaning up against the bookcase next to my bed, impossible as it may seem I somehow jumped out of bed in my sleep and my head struck the corner of the body, the swelling has gone down but there's still a little bump to remind me I much prefer the dreams where I'm flying or engaged in some "personal activity" with a member of the opposite gender lol

I like open A its a real meaty chord and movable also the D/f# its a great transitional chord to G and my favorite (besides the B) is a open E for the fullness of sound and also good for lead solos because you can start on the lowest string and play a riff to the end of your frets and if you use a slide even farther smile

Tuba I forgot about the hoo hoo's and I like the preference to "sweet home" as opposed to an impact area lol

tubatooter1940 wrote:

Hello, Guitarrock,
The origional hit by Lynard Skynard was played in key of G.
So the verses go: D,C,G.
Don't forget about the whoo hoo hoo part where it goes F,C,D,C,G.
Being from Alabama, we jumped on that song from day one.
"Sweet Home Alabama" replaced "Stars Fell on Alabama" on our car license plates. It is much better to have our state referred to as a "sweet home" rather than an impact area. smile
