Re: How is it physically possible to play a B chord? (28 replies, posted in Acoustic)
Zurf I stayed in Alaska for a few months and since its still part of the lower 49 there cant be to many restrictions and I love smoked salmon :lol and You can be sure i will remind you
maybe someone has a link to that Neil Young song but if I remember zydeco is something like what the Neville brothers play, like a New Orleans type sound sort of cajun and I would be glad to help you with your song send me the lyrics and chords, it would help if you had a mic and the audacity program I could walk you through the steps of setting it up and how to use it quicker then cr#@ thru a goose
if you listen to my song "Jamaacaa Man" on my website that is in a zydeco style kinda upbeat but the tempo can be adjusted for your song I think any song about faith is a good idea so drop on over to the recording forum and I will muster the chordie mutants and make this song a reality
Well Russell, I'm heading to Alaska next summer for some salmon. I'm not sure of the regs, but if I can I'll have some smoked or flash-frozen for you and send it along (if you remind me). I'm not in any hurry for much of anything these days. I've been trying to slow things down a bit - especially the spinning in my head.
Speaking of old-time boom-chicka-boom country music, I'm working on a song titled Old Blue about a pickup truck I just sold. If you've ever heard Neil Young's song about his dog King you'll know about what to expect. I'd be real grateful for any suggestions on writing in a Zydeco style. I have an idea for a song about faith that I think would sound good in that uber-happy style.

Zurf I shall not worry I know you outdoors fishing and camping people have to endure all kinds of inclement conditions so your skin is used to a little abuse but I'll go easy on you but you'll have to wait a bit I have some recording projects that take priority but I already wrote the words and the chord changes kind of country sounding easy strumming song you can sit around the campfire drink beer and eat beans, pass a little gas get comfy type of song while you clean some fish
not necessarily in that order, but what the heck and shucky darn thank God I'm a country boy (just thought I would set it up a bit) and in a few days I will wax it on vinyl for ya and upload it and if you need a copy I can put one on mediafire and I will do the chopro and put it in the songwriters section, but you have to send me some frozen fish ![]()

Re: Recording mic (4 replies, posted in Recording)
yes the female plugs into your microphone and the male plugs into the adapter, the adapter has a female to 1/8 in mono plug and this plugs into your microphone input on your soundcard some microphones chords have a 3 pin plug cable if you buy one you will need another adapter with a 1/4 in male and a 3 hole female so get the cable with male female and your good to go
When I buy I mic for recording on my computer, I need a male/female mic cable, right? Is there anything else I need, or just the mic and cable? I already have an adapter.

Wibble been there and done that
good luck with it russell
Thank you both for the answers there.
I was just fiddling around with my spare room last night shifting things around (throwing all my old crap out that I really should have thrown out years ago) and noticed when I shifted my amp out of the way there was a line out - so happy days. To be fair, on a bright Orange amplifier you would think I would have noticed the big black jack port marked "line out" a long time ago...

Thanks for the link I looked but I could not find any US affiliates (darn) looks like I will have to wait and see if PBS airs the program in the US
Russell, all I can find is this page from the BBC website.
It is info about the 1st part. I can't find any mention of any other broadcasting, but these things usually get picked up by other stations a little later on.
Sorry I can't be more helpful but I will keep a look out.

Re: AUTUMN IN WISCONSIN (18 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
A fellow Wisconsinite I see and as far as the mandolin is concerned I play one also I love the folksey sound of it,several of my songs feature mandolin solos and mine is a 1898 Gibson and it sounds better then any new one I have tried out in music stores (must be the wood or craftsmenship) and I know what your talking about with bye bye garden my pepper and tomato plants have withered and died, yes winter is a time for introspection and I will have to search and locate a willing lass to snuggle up with to take the bite out of winter you married guys have all you need,I remember a question a reporter asked a 85 yr old married man on the subject of winter it was "do you have any tips for staying warm in winter" he responded "yes one good turn in bed gets most of the blanket"
I'm with you Russ. Being on the back side of forty, winter isn't as fun as it was when we were ten. My wife and I live up here on the little 'ol Peshtigo river and had our first killing frost of the year. Bye, Bye garden and hello pellet stove. Winter for me is a time for introspection. Watch the snow fall on the river and pull a little E,A7th, B7th blues prog. I recently bought a (Don't shoot) mandolin. WOW, can you pull a crying jag off of this thing! It's funny how your (my) music mood changes as the seasons change. That said, winter in wisconsin is a beautiful time. Wouldn't want to live anywhere else. Take care and stay warm.

Re: Recording basics? (28 replies, posted in Recording)
I concur with your findings my friend from across the pond, and if by chance the amp dose not have a line out then to get the effects from the amp you will require a mixer of sort to plug in the amp and to the soundcard and your guitar or microphone will go thru the mixer first ![]()
Hi Wibble
I know this question was aimed at Russ but....
To answer your question it would be yes. If you use Audacity software then it will pretty much record anything you can hear through your soundcard with distortion or not.
It's a good general recording and mixing program.

06 Unless you have a line out on your amp you will have to mic it, if you have a line out just put the 1/8 inch adapter on the chord leading from your line out and plug it into your sound card if not place a microphone in front of the speaker and adjust your send volume (you can monitor this on audacity) and make sure the dark red meter bars are not constantly peaked to the right as this would indicate a distorted signal ![]()
